Hey Rose! Every one must be having a quiet moment!
Maybe because it's church night?
I will not kick the cat.. I will not kick the cat.. I will not kick the cat ever again
97% of all statistics are made up on the spot
I see someone can appreciate a good story, be it fact or utter nonsense!
The part about seperation of church and state is about churches seperate themselves from the rest of the people by not paying taxes. Whether you know it or not as a taxpayer you are subsidising every religion out there. It takes so many dollars to run a town and the cost is divided up among the residents except for all the churches. If the churches really want to help the people they should start paying taxes to shift some of the burden off the residents of the towns. In this economy the time for the free ride is over. Even if you are not a church member you are helping all churches to stay in business tax free. While you do without.
The phrase "separation of church and state" does not appear in the Constitution - it originally came from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson.
The First Amendment was intended to keep government out of religion; not visa versa.
In countries that don't have such a document, people "believe" what they're told to believe or they're executed. Perhaps it's all in the (selective) translation.
Good morning, all!
Anon, call up a church in your neighborhood & tell them you can't feed your children. Chances are, food will show up at your door. Then, call up those 12,000 million (or so - who really knows for sure) illegal immigrants who are living in the U.S. for free & tell them the same thing & see what happens.
Churches aren't the problem with our tax base in this country.
Here's a web site to check out that's Fact and not Utter Nonsense! WWW.BUSH-REMOVAL.COM DJE
"12,000 million" ??? LOL How many is that, exactly?
BAHAHAHAHA
See? Told ya I wasn't a morning person. LOL
Hey Rose! Are you ever gona kick the cat again? Of course by accident! dje
Hung Chow calls into work and says,"I no come to work today. I really sick. Got headache, stomach ache and legs hurt. I no come to work today." Hung Chow's boss says, "You know something, Hung Chow, I really need you today. When I feel like this, I go to my wife and tell her to give me sex. That makes everything better and I go to work. You try that." Two hours later, Hung Chow calls again, "I do what you say and I feel great.....You got nice house."
The fact remains, if there are 100 people in a town and it takes $100.00 to run the town that's a dollar each to run it. Wrong, there are ten churches in this mythical town so now it costs the remaining 90 people $1.11. I don't care for the practice of having to support churches that are not of my choosing.
Don't despair, Anon. You're not just supporting the churches. You're also supporting the unemployed, the poor, the too lazy to work, the elderly and your neighbor's drug habit. Does that make you feel better?
One day a lady got on a train and prepared herself for a pretty long trip. Next to her was a beautiful young girl who seemed a little quiet. Realizing that they were going to be together for a few hours, the lady decided to strike up a conversation with this nice girl.
"Hi," she said with a smile, "My name is Mary and I'm going to go see my son. He's going to college and makes straight A's."
"Well, that's nice," said the girl.
After about 15 minutes of silence, the lady tries again. "My husband is an engineer and just got a promotion. Now he makes a six figure salary and we're going to move into a new house next week," she said.
"Well, that's nice," said the girl.
Another 15 minutes of silence goes by, and the lady tries again... "I can't wait to move out of the city and into our new house. I think I'll join a quilting club or perhaps start gardening to keep me busy," she said excitedly.
"Well, that's nice," said the girl.
ANOTHER 15 minutes goes by. Frustrated, the lady goes,
"What have YOU done recently? Do you go to school?"
"Well, I just graduated from Charm School," the girl said.
"Great!" said the lady, "What did you learn there?"
"Well," said the girl, "I used to say 'Who gives a sh*t', but now I just say 'Well, that's nice'."
That's what the $1.11 is for...
Rose, How many immigrants, aliens or minorities are in Clay county?
How many churches?
They know a good thing when they see it.
I thought that's what Clay County was for. And churches.
Um ... Anon? I only spout off statistics that others have already compiled. I don't analyze this stuff myself. I have no idea how many churches, aliens, immigrants or minorities there are in Clay.
Actually, let's see. Maybe I can fake it & pretend like I do. George's site says there are 50+ churches.
There are aliens everywhere - you'll know them by their antennas & big, buggy eyes.
We're all immigrants or descendents of immigrants, unless we're Native American Indians.
All women are in the minority group, as are people with jobs, single white males, college grads & people who are capable of talking out their mouths instead of their behinds.
Overall, I'd say the aliens, immigrants & minorities in Clay out-populate the churches by at least 5 to 1.
Whoops! My mistake! Just popped over to George's site & it says our population is roughly 10,450. That'd make that ratio more like 200 to 1. Silly me!
That doesn't even take into account the welfare leeches & social parasites, but that's just too much math.
Wonder if Hung Chow lives in amongst us? lmao.
Hi Rose and all.
Where is everyone? Jokes, slam, slurs. LOL. Just love this place.
We are all back here with Rose just lurking in the darkness! Boooooooo!
I know I know, Rose said she dosent lurk, she just observes quietly!
& she doesn't "sweat" - she "glistens." LOL (I stole that one BAHAHAHA)
It's time for breakfast. Mom asks her two little sons what they want to eat. Older son tells her, I don't want no damn cereal. Mom's jaw drops. Young man, come with me. I'm gonna wash your mouth out with soap. That kind of talk is unacceptable. Mom returns and asks other son, what do you want for breakfast to which he replies, well, I sure as hell don't want no cereal.
& that's a LOT! LOL
Hey Rose! Wonder who got all these stories and jokes started???????? dje
statistics are as only good as the person calculating the numbers and the reason behind compiling the data.
80 % or more of all crime is comitted by 20% or more of our population
come up with a 3 strike law and imprison the evil ones for life
lol i sent that last one unfinished
after the imprisonment there are only few studies to show how many new thugs step up to be career criminals taking the place of the imprisonment
so dont imprison banish the hard career criminals to iraq to double as vehicle armor or land mine detectors
oh and the 20% or more should be 20% or less wow i guess im not the morning person here
utter nonesense easily defined; George Bush and his henchmen and women. utterly beyond explanaton; why did the State of West Virginia vote to put him in office?
If if was a sniff we all would get a whiff.
Don't know how Bush carried wv. can't find a single person who voted for him. lol.
Found a web site on the IQ of the last 15 presidents, Bush W. george=91. His daddy's light bulb was'nt much brighter. His daddy=98. Even G. Rice is admitting he is a dim lit bulb now! I guess all we can do is pray for the Du-m S-n -f a Bit-h!
Hey, Y'all! Snuck right out of town & snuck right back in again & nobody even knew it! LOL
holy man, I don't know that GWB really needs your prayers all that much - he's pretty much set for life & doesn't even have to worry about Social Security, Medicare, retirement ... Sometimes, I wish I was as stupid as some of these politicians ...
And I thought you were lurking. Silly me.
The ones that voted for him , I mean
Any one ever herd the term. do the crime do the time? Well since bush is so gang ho about us getting coal out of the ground, and putting so many people to work{in harms way} then why in the name of human decency has'nt he pushed harder in congress to inforce safer mine conditions, and with out w atcting out for the big moneys behind . To many lives have been lost by the lack of mine saftey,THANK GOD FOR THE UMWA. The 2600+80, is it going to be in a Union mine, wonder how many illeagl immigrants are going to fill them spots, wonder how bush is using this to make his white house look better in his not so good times? I wonder what is the true DOLLAR VALUE bush puts on a human life here in this country, or the War for that fact. I wonder how many shifts he would od worked at SAGO before a DAM BIG change was made? We could'nt get that lucky.
That's for sure, sir henry! And anyway it can be done. Destroying our mountain tops and ruining our streams & rivers. Not at all responsible about how it's done and could care less so long as the big wigs get their big fat profits and Bush has the leadership skills and a third grade student, if that much. Always in damage control mode.
Very well stated, holy man.
But look on the bright side! Hillary wants to run in 2008, Gore may run again, Screamin' Dean might throw his hat back in ... so many things to look forward to to make Bush look so much better in the years to come!
Good morning!!
If a president, who ever may get elected, would do as much as the CUB SCOUT PROMISE, it would be a heck of an improvment. Something to think on or look up!
Ah, sirhenry, mountaintop removal isn't just so hard-working men can have good paying jobs & feed their families. That's just an added bonus. Millions & millions of people across this nation & others benefit from the sweat of their brows. Corridor G is built on a mountain that had it's top removed - that'd be WalMart, HomeDepot, RedLobster, the jail (prison?), etc., etc., etc. & it's all powered by what? Electricity. Generated by what? Coal.
The prison in Gilmer County is built on a mountain that had it's top whacked off.
Things are much different than they were in Arch's day. We're all grateful for that.
Coal. It keeps the lights on.
coal is not the only energy source to furnish lights they also have nuclear energy and now they have developed photovoltaic cells that are applied as siding on bldgs. they also are furnishing energy, amd wind driven gewnerators, also are developing large series of solar energy fields. have heard they have developed an energy source on an island in the baltic sea that is being furnished an island there absolutely free. many new things happening.
Any body try and talk to a person with a one track mind? It's rough! I don't care and most people would'nt care if they moved the whole darn mountian if it was done in a safe manner. Rules to be followed and strickly inforced,no double standard on who and who does'nt follow the rules. Who wants the power turned off, No body! Who wants mine saftey strickly inforced? for the most part just the miners and there familys. Lack of inforced mine safety= DEATH
Yep there are lots of new ways to keep the lights on and here in Wv our fine legislature has already passed a bill so that if you have a windmill on your land the state gets a cut of the energy produced by it. Who pays for the windmill and the energy it will produce? You the homeowner, as they set the bill up so that you have to pay the state for what energy you get from it. Makes you want to run right out and buy a few so you can pay the state more dollars just because you want to save a few bucks. Makes sense to me.
don't know what anon. is trying to say. energy sources are just that. they themselves don't charge anyone. greedy politicians tax energy sources. there's no shortage of them. greedy politicians allow lax enforcement of safety laws. greedy politicians allow mt. top removal and enviromental problems. however there is danger in all types of work not just in coal mines. it's dangerous just to drive to work.
Hey Hippy! You lurking out there in the shadows any where??? dje
A few years ago, we took a weekend trip to "Amish Country." They don't care what keeps the lights on, they don't complain about their utility bills, they couldn't care less who gets elected for what.
When we went to an Amish "Family Style" restaraunt, we ordered food for 4 - we had enough left over to feed our entire family a couple more times. It was hot, fresh, homemade & delicious & didn't cost nearly what it cost my husband & I to eat lunch at Applebee's.
Yeah, the horses were messy & the furniture & everything was expensive, but I think they're onto something & we could all learn something from them.
It's all about supply & demand. We all seem to want to demand more, more, more & do nothing but gripe about the cost of supplying whatever it takes to meet our demands.
What a crazy, crazy world we live in, huh?
DJE?? You & LoneStranger stirrin' up trouble? teeheehee
So right about miners taking the responsibility for their own safety and the safety of their co-workers. My dad worked in a deep mines and I have heard him more than once say that he damn near got killed or injured because of another miner's actions or lack of action.
Right about our mountain tops being laid to waste for all kinds of things, but it's my opinion that coal company big wigs do it because it's cheaper than deep mining, hence more profitable for them. But what do I know? I was raised in a coal camp by a coal miner but that coal miner dad of mine sure as heck knew what he was talking about.
Word on the street is Oggie Phillyps had over $10,000.00 on him when he was arrested and taken to jail. Anyone heard why its not listed in the contraband taken to the courthouse? Nice nestegg
Maybe "word on the street" is just that. Might not be a thing to it. I don't think I would make such an implication based on "word on the street." Could be true, but if not, just another rumor in the mill.
I think somebody should volunteer to be our Informational Deputy Dawg. Just go to the courthouse periodically & update us as to who's been arrested, what the particulars are, etc. etc. etc. Nope, it's not my business, but ... teeheehee
I so miss the Jail Birds website! I noticed the WV RJA site now allows you to download the mugshots of everybody they've processed. Hmm. Seems like somebody over there might be trying to tell the bloggers something, huh? BAHAHAHAHAHA
hey hippy, agree with you, but wish it were just one other. Know of 3 myself that makes me say well, duh, when someone makes a comment about how do they afford that new truck or car or SUV? or, they always have money but don't hit a lick at nothing. Not all men either. am hoping to see a few more John Doe indictments presented. These low lifes have been doing it for years and how they have managed to keep from getting caught really makes me wonder who's on the take.
Have been tempted to purchase some goods myself and then turn them in but I would probably be the one that goes to jail.
hey Rose; i'm curious these AMISH people, who protects them in their way of life? do they pay taxes? taxes help pay the expenses of our police actions. police actions that aqllow them to live their way of life. do they serve in the military. how many of the men have an unofficial harem. where do they get their medical care? from medicaid. better take a good look. i'd spread a little horsesh*t too if all my expenses were being paid by my neighbors. oh welfare, lots of welfare, underneath the starry sky and a little putty cat at my side. home sweet home by golly
Very good questions.
Hey Lone Stranger! That was a good question about the Amish paying taxes. They actually do pay taxes with a few exceptions. They don't pay SS taxes because they do not collect SS benefits (unless they work for Non-Amish employers that is). They do pay real estate taxes, sales and income taxes (federal, state, county etc.)That's all I know about that.
I would like to know how they opt out of the military though. Can you claim religious exemptions for that? As for the unofficial harem??? I think you have them mixed up with the Mormons. The Amish men have just the one wife, but about 35 kids a piece. Glad I'm not Amish, all those babies would ruin my girlish figure!!!!
CB
Now Now Mp,s got a pasel full of them most people don't no about and it did'nt hurt her figure any!
Well you said this was fact or utter nonsence!
I'm guessing that the money Amish people make probably gets spread out to enough family members that nobody actually ends up making enough to have to pay income taxes on.
Do they really "opt out" of the military or do they sign up when they turn 18 like everybody else? As long as there's no draft & it all stays voluntary, is it really opting out??
It still sounds like a good deal to me. Everybody pretty much knows their purpose in life & nobody feels any pressure to do more, have more, get more. They share everything they have & if that includes wives, it just shows that as different as they are, they're really not all that different.
Ok, so it's really just those massive old farmhouses I love so much & I wouldn't mind being Amish not one bit. All the bread, cake, fried chicken & pickled beets you could eat & after spending 20 hours a day working your fingers to the bone, it'd never go to your hips. Does life get any better than that??
I don't know if they opt out or not. Can anyone even do that? I just figured they didn't get involved in that at all. No idea.
I don't think I would go for that life at all. No electricity?? No internet??? No indoor water? Well, I think some have indoor plumbing now. I'm far too lazy to be Amish. Plus I love to drive.
CB
hey hippy; send some cornstarch that'll get their attention. joke joke joke not guilty of inciting just got off probation wasn't yet a crime when i did it. met some really interesting people though. played chess with one native american for two weeks out in oklahoma. said he was ambassador to UN from his upper New York nation. nice fellow. many others all had stories to tell. muslim, blacks, native american, hispanic maybe others don't remember how'd your trip go Rose.
I never knew of an Amish or Menonite going into the armed forces nor did they sign up for the draft before they done away with it. 12 gauge rules in their domain and they don't care a cent to bust a cap on you. They are inbred people and do not have to abide by the same laws we do. At age 17 they are allowed to do what any other young people do until they are age 21 at which time they are back to the farm community. Some never leave but some do. I used to live by them in Ohio and still visit with some of them from time to time. They do pay taxes on outside jobs they do such as building houses, barns and other buildings. Most of them have crews that divide up profits from jobs done. All moneys are community property as all other property occurred. Don't know about sharing the women but I know lots of old men with younger then young women as wifes. They will trade you a good goat for a woman to. As far as the cakes going to ur hips them people don't care a cent where it goes they got it made and are not trying to impress anyone. By the time you cook, clean work the fields and run after cows, pigs, chickens and a half dozen kids under age 6 I don't imagine any of them cares where it goes either. It all starts around 4 a.m. and goes until around 10 p.m. nonstop most days. If you want to see how they live sometimes there is a few moved into Roane county in recent years also.
I just got out of jail. I was arrested by the thought police.
Another statistic you forgot to mention by George. There are 7 churches per square mile in Clay county. 342sq miles of county. About 50 churches. Taxpayers unite!!!
you idiot, there's 1 church for every 7 square miles. if there were 7 churches for every square mile, then there'd be about 2400 churches. go clay county high school math department!
Idiots unite!
Sad condolences to the Clay math dept.
The area is 342 sq miles the divisor is 50. The result is 6.84. Multiply (to check the result) 50X6.84=342. Yeah I think it's unbelievable too!
