Does anybody have any idea how many federal dollars come into this county - and the public school system in general - based on the number of "low income" children we reportedly have? The more free lunches they give out, the more federal funding they get.
Looks to me like those of us who are paying full price are doing all the children of Clay County a disservice. It's our patriotic duty to lie on those free lunch applications we get each year so ALL the kids can get free lunch & we can get more more MORE federal funding pouring into our county.
Furthermore, all of us moms need to sashay our behinds up to the welfare office & tell them that we're separated from our husbands so we can get in on every available dollar out there & get more more MORE coming our way. Heck, my husband spends a lot of time in the garage - that's all it takes to be "separated," isn't it? We're "separated" from 4 a.m. till 7 p.m. & that's the majority of the time, right? Isn't that the way it works around here?
Every year for the past 7, I've gotten notes home informing me that if my child's lunch bill isn't paid by a certain time, he won't get his report card, he won't get to go on the field trip, he won't get yada yada blah blah. Yeah, well, the rest of that story is that if I don't haul my behind out the door each morning to pay my taxes & do my part in supporting the rest of "the village," his momma won't get to eat her cheese doodles, his daddy might have to give up drinking, the big screen TV might have to go back to Rent-A-Center.
Every application that comes in that qualifies for free lunch should have a qualified, professional financial analyst & a social worker looking it over to determine what the problem is. Then they should go to the kid's house & have a nice chat with the parents. If they're just fat & lazy & sitting around watching TV, siss on 'em, pister. Make them give up a pack or 2 of smokes & pay up like the rest of us. Then get them off their fat lazy butts & find them a job.
Nobody should be penalized for falling on hard times. It happens to everybody at some time or another. At some point, though, the free rides have got to stop. Those same kids who get free lunch today will expect a free ride tomorrow & the way our society is, they'll get it. Anybody remember life BEFORE public assistance?? School lunches cost ... what? 75 cents? 50? There are 180 days in a school year. That's $90-$135/year/child. How much do trampolines cost? How much are GameCubes & PlayStations & XBoxes & games for them? How much are cell phones? How many people do you know who have all those things, yet they don't work & their kids get free lunch?
How many people do you know who can't afford insurance? How many elderly people are eating dog food because they can't afford anything else? How many people do you know who can't afford much-needed medications because there's no money to buy them?

Does anybody have any idea how many federal dollars come into this county - and the public school system in general - based on the number of "low income" children we reportedly have? The more free lunches they give out, the more federal funding they get.
Looks to me like those of us who are paying full price are doing all the children of Clay County a disservice. It's our patriotic duty to lie on those free lunch applications we get each year so ALL the kids can get free lunch & we can get more more MORE federal funding pouring into our county.
Furthermore, all of us moms need to sashay our behinds up to the welfare office & tell them that we're separated from our husbands so we can get in on every available dollar out there & get more more MORE coming our way. Heck, my husband spends a lot of time in the garage - that's all it takes to be "separated," isn't it? We're "separated" from 4 a.m. till 7 p.m. & that's the majority of the time, right? Isn't that the way it works around here?
Every year for the past 7, I've gotten notes home informing me that if my child's lunch bill isn't paid by a certain time, he won't get his report card, he won't get to go on the field trip, he won't get yada yada blah blah. Yeah, well, the rest of that story is that if I don't haul my behind out the door each morning to pay my taxes & do my part in supporting the rest of "the village," his momma won't get to eat her cheese doodles, his daddy might have to give up drinking, the big screen TV might have to go back to Rent-A-Center.
Every application that comes in that qualifies for free lunch should have a qualified, professional financial analyst & a social worker looking it over to determine what the problem is. Then they should go to the kid's house & have a nice chat with the parents. If they're just fat & lazy & sitting around watching TV, siss on 'em, pister. Make them give up a pack or 2 of smokes & pay up like the rest of us. Then get them off their fat lazy butts & find them a job.
Nobody should be penalized for falling on hard times. It happens to everybody at some time or another. At some point, though, the free rides have got to stop. Those same kids who get free lunch today will expect a free ride tomorrow & the way our society is, they'll get it. Anybody remember life BEFORE public assistance?? "Progress" ain't all it's cracked up to be.

My family is no different from anybody else's. Are you saying that if it's MY family members sitting around waiting on their daily handouts that I should change my opinion? That's the kind of thinking that got us where we are today. Everybody's part of somebody's family & if being "family" makes it OK, then logically, it's OK for everybody. Is that your line of thinking?
Public Assistance was meant to be just that - Assistance. To help those who had too much month left over at the end of their paycheck. Keyword here being PAYCHECK. It was never intended to support entire generations of families too lazy to work for a living.
School lunches cost ... what? 75 cents? 50? There are 180 days in a school year. That's $90-$135/year/child. How much do trampolines cost? How much are GameCubes & PlayStations & XBoxes & games for them? How much are cell phones? How many people do you know who have all those things, yet they don't work & their kids get free lunch?
How many people do you know who can't afford insurance? How many elderly people are eating dog food because they can't afford anything else? How many people do you know who can't afford much-needed medications because there's no money to buy them?
It's not the people who are being "assisted" that bother me. It's the ones who expect a hand OUT instead of a hand UP that irritate the crap out of me.
We're supporting the wrong d*mn people in this country.

According to George's site, the average income in Clay is $22,890. According to the federal poverty guidelines, a family of 5 meets the poverty guidelines if income is $22,670 or less. That's 1 lazy a*s dad, 1 lazy a*s mom & 3 kids that will grow up to be lazy a*s*es. Birth control is free at the clinic.
