It was late in December, the sky turned to snow
All round the day was going down slow
Night like a river beginning to flow
I felt the beat of my mind go
Drifting into time passages
Years go falling in the fading light
Time passages ....
Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight.

Just for kicks, I went back to see what was on everybody's mind this time last year.
Hmmmm.
Well I took a trip down memory lane, and Rose, there sure was a bunch of fudge packed anons.
Hey, WV Chic! I'm sure you can guess what the topic du jour was this time last year. I'm certainly not gonna be the one to get it started up again. LOL
Ah, living life to the fullest. I think I've read 3 books in the past 5 days. Not good books, mind you, but books just the same. Just a little something to drown out the laundry calling my name. teeheehee
I think I'm finally getting tired of Christmas dinner leftovers. Ham & Crunch Berries just aren't mixing well for me anymore ...

OK, we ain't talkin' 'bout what we talked about last year. We're all done with that. Good grief.

I don't know about anyone else but I have just about had it with the sad state of affairs with county officials, internet service and the sorry state our court system is in.
Maybe our judges are like the one they removed from the bench last month, to busy playing with their Penis pump to pay attention to whats going on around them. What do we do to get elected persons to realize they are working for the taxpayers? How about AW's site with a $15,000.00 EXTRA charge because the Prosecutors office is to busy doing nothing to fill in a few blanks to get prisoners removed from CRJ to Mount Olive or whereever. Sure would go along way in this county at a cost like that.
Whos fault is it that they can't do the job they promised to do when they took office. Is the caseload that bad? Whats the secretarys in that office do wiuth there time? I am sure they could find a little time to type up a few names in a blank spot as they seem to do nothing but stare off into space somewhere.
Why is the CCC not monitoring them a little more closely, after all they do give the O.K. to hire the extra help. They do get paid very well to sit in there and look PRETTY for the attorneys running in and out though.

Uh ... I hate to interrupt when everybody's on a roll, but does anybody have any suggestions for simple booby traps?
I'm not at all mechanically inclined, but it seems we have lurkers on our property when we're not here & things tend to not be where we left them when we get home.
I don't want anybody to get hurt or anything like that, but I do want to dissuade petty thieves & bike stealers. I have access to quite some bit of dog doo ... teeheehee
big foot must be lurkin' and smurkin' Rose
You can buy a surveilance camera that will trigger a VCR. Had them in K-Mart for $99.00 w/out the VCR
Yell BOOBY! and when they come running shoot them.
Works for me.
Rose, here is what my mom done years ago when she thought someone was coming in our house.
When you get ready to leave go to the kitchen and get your flour. As you exit the house spread a thin layer of the flour on the floor. Do this around all your doors. When you get home you will be able to tell if someone was in your house or not because they will leave feet print everywhere they walk.
Also if you have a video camera, hide it somewhere that it won't be seen and hit record. That works even better because you can see the face of the idiot.
Pray for God to intervine, and if that don't work, shoot there sorry butts.
" GOOLLESPIE "
Here's just the thing for those nasty varmints that troll yer place:
HBC #6 Bear TrapThe HBC #6 is very large. It weighs a whopping 48 lbs. and is 46" long with a jaw spread of 17". This is the size trap used to catch the largest, most powerful Grizzly Bears. The chain has a swivel and ring just like the old traps. The pan reads "American Fur and Trade Company, HBC No. 6. $349.95
You can purchase these little beautys at yer local outdoor and sports store.
I think it will do the trick!
LOL YIKES!!
The irony here is that if I harm somebody trying to steal me blind on my own property, it's still within their "rights" to sue me to pay their medical bills. Hmm. Good luck with that.
I'm thinking the video camera's a good idea, though I do sorta doubt it's usefulness in the overall scheme of things. It's one thing to catch somebody red-handed, but really, it's all in the punishment. Or, as would likely be the case, lack thereof.
Honestly, a good willow switch is what's in order here & I just happen to have a lovely weeping willow tree. My property, my rules, right? If somebody's momma has a problem with that, she can either get in line or keep her sticky-fingered rodents at home.
BAHAHAHAHAHA
You'll need two cameras. One that they can steal, because they will. And one that films them stealing the other one.
Just because they're still booger eaters doesn't mean they aren't crafty!
LOL
Sad but true.
Looks like a family reunion at CRJ today!
Rose show up at State Police headquarters with video tape of a crime being committed in Clay County, and the tape will be missing on court day, Judge will make an order for them to not do it anymore, call the Sheriff and his hands are tied by that order.
Trust me the dead have no medical bills, saves tax money, self satisfaction that you stopped a criminal from riding the system for life.
As for mommy caring, forget itif she did the little rat would not have been allowed to stay in the trap at conception.
Moral of the story is its you against the world when it comes to a crime ravaged world. Thats why they call it a Criminal Justice System, once you have been thorugh this you will see the only rights a law abiding citizen has is what they TAKE.
Well ya could dig a moat around your house, and fill it with Gators. And in time when the Gators get fattend up, eat the Gators. Love that switch idea.

Even kids who have never seen a willow tree fear the distinctive whistle of a switch slicing through the air, coming their way. Put a p*ssed off mom behind that switch & any kid who doesn't fear it needs a double dose. teeheehee
"the dead don't have medical bills" ... au contraire! My mom gets bills in the mail every day! Obviously sent by people who are deaf & illiterate, because it doesn't seem to matter how many death certificates and letters I send or how many calls I make. Her auto insurance company told me flat out that "a death certificate is not sufficient to cancel this policy." So, yeah, I asked if they'd prefer the body.
I guess the more $$ they waste in administrative fees (postage, paper & long distance ain't free, ya know!), the more they can charge to make up for it.
What a great headline that'd make - "Crazed Woman Storms Insurance Company Waving Willow Switches!" Reckon I'd make the cover of the Communicator? BAHAHAHAHAHA LOL
I been through all that Ms Rose and I just wonder if they continue to do the bills just to try to get you to commit suicide. Where do they get all these people from that can't take no for an answer or in this case a death certificate? Isn't that why its called a certificate of death so that you have proof thats all thats left and there is going to be no more PAYEE?
The bills will keep coming and even after a few years of sending them back marked "DECEASED" they still have the gall to send them once in awhile.
Ya know, though, these people do serve a certain purpose. I had my name added to the "Do Not Call" registry & now I don't have anybody to take my frustrations out on. My mom's creditors make themselves perfect targets. teeheehee
you also have a 'right' to shoot (or harm) someone that is trespassing on your property, if you are afraid for your safety.
oh well no one wants to talk. them bulfrogs gonna beat the hell out o' WV ANYWAY.
That won't work, shootin to wound, for Rose ain't aferd of nuttin.

Not missing WVC, just banned from my house for a bit while the Dollar General and Post Office pretty much burned to the ground. Very sad...sickening is more like it. They closed the whole town down no one gets in our out. Luckily if you know the right people you can back get in. >: D
I hear the Save-A-Lot was set on fire as well. Anyone hear that?
CB
Hey, CB...did the fire get to any of the houses around the Dollar General and Post Office? One of my very good friends lives directly behind those buildings. :(
Here's one article a friend found for me...and here's another. Neither one says very much, but that WCHS one mentions three or four other "structures" being on fire.
Thanks for the links Smiley. It's good to see what the view is from "the outside looking in". When you live in town its way different. You focus on such different things.
It's presently midnight, the adreneline ('scuse the spelling, it's late and I don't care) is still rushing. I think all but a couple of the firetrucks and police and firecheif cars are all gone. The constant rumble of all those deisel engines is gone finally as well as the megaphoning back and forth among the emergency personel.
I have "heard" that the little couple that lived next to the Dollar Store are okay, but no facts on that only hearsay, which is bountiful. Smiley....I know the house you are talking about I think. I couldn't give you any facts on that. I know we left our our house which is not on the same block because the smoke smell ran us off. It was horrendous, but when we came back about 3 hours later it was gone. (Or we've gotten used to it and don't realize we and our house stink).
What I could see from the Kroger parking lot and what I saw on the news were so differnt. The parking lot was chock full when we left our house and the building was completely up in flames. I've never seen anything like it. On the news I saw the only the remains of the building.
I can't imagine what tomorrow morning will be like. The whole town (it seems) goes "to town" which means the PO and the dollar store. It will be so sad to go there (if we're even allowed) and have the whole thing be just...gone.
From what I understand no one was injured at all from either fire which seems incredible. I didn't see the one at Save A Lot, but the one here was just beyond words. It will devastate this town.
We have a boil water order going now. Dang! Tomorrow is Saturday! Laundry day and bath day!!! We'll have to head to Clay County, I hear they have water up there...occaisionally! >: D
If I hear anything of consequence tomorrow, while I go to enquire about my mail (and my beloved new installment of the People magazine), I'll relay.
WVC...the chocolates...OMG, at work we were all in a sugar coma.
And we loved it!!!
Happy New Year! A good time to reflect on your blessings!
CB
Thank you very much, CB. I appreciate you letting us know that much. The house I was speaking of is the big two-story brick house with the built-on garage...sits directly behind the Dollar General...toward the river. My oldest friend, her husband and two children live there. Can't seem to get in touch with them, so it has been worrying me. Reports from WCHS said that there were no injuries reported, which is great. Still, I'm hoping that she (or anyone else nearby, for that matter) didn't lose anything in the fire.
The loss will be horrendous to Clendenin. Heck, even I go down there often to do my shopping. You're absolutely right-it will be very sad to see the remains of the buildings. Thank you again for the information and I would greatly appreciate any further info that you can give.
Was watching the news late last night when some guy says he has a building that the Dollar store can use until they get re-established and back under order but who knows. Might just be what they needed down there to refurbish the town lord only knows a facelift would do wonders for the place. Might even save someone walking by when the buildings start to fall over. Sad situation when all the profits are used and the hundred year old buildings get no attention.
Wonder who the guy was trying to give the town a new Facelift the fast way?
I just came from town. The FD is still down there spraying whats left of the building; which seems to be just rubble...burnt rubble. It's still smoldering. There were huge ashes and burnt bits all over the place this morning including my front porch. It must have been windy last night.
Smiley, I walked around the back of the PO to check your friends house. It didn't look the least bit harmed, but they are mighty close to the Dollar Store, I can't imagine that their house didn't heat up inside.
The house right next to the dollar store wasn't touched either. I think only a small alley seperated the two.
In a brief chat with the town's mayor, we discussed that the brick walls probably caused most of the blaze to shoot upward rather than outward. Judging from what I could see from the SMITHS parking lot last night, I think this is true.
There is a ton of traffic heading into town to look I guess. I wonder how they are going to get back out. The roads are still roped off it and seems like the traffic is all one way. Maybe everyone is down at the water plant at the other end of town because they could go no further. /;S
That's all the news there is on that. I saw a Channel 13 car pull up, look for about two seconds and then leave. I guess the towns reaction to what happened isn't nearly as newsworthy as sky high flames.
I did notice that most of the news reports said that there were girls in the Dollar Store that they think set the fire, but I thought that I heard the one set at Save A lot was done by a man? Anyone heard?
Have a Fun, but safe New Years Eve!!!
CB
Forever the conversation stopper.
{:O HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I know... but even so no one made a New Years Resolution for me!!! >: D
CB
Okay....go ahead...I have spoken ~ another day of silence
Ya know, I've had approximately 87 batrillionzillion conversations with CB & I don't ever recall a lull. I don't think it's you, CB, I think it must be ... everybody else. BAHAHAHAHAHA LOL
Wow. Lessee. We drove by the Dollar General today. Granted, I'm a bit more emotional than most (I've been known to bawl at the sight of a fallen mighty oak), but ... wow. I was trying to remember what was there when Clendenin was booming & it's funny, because when Clendenin was booming, that end of town wasn't really part of the "boom."
What a stupid, senseless way for somebody to pass the time. Has anyone been caught?
Meanwhile, I don't know whether to be more surprised that the Clendenin Arsonist didn't make the national news or that the hanging of Saddam & the passing of President Ford didn't make local headlines.
There's something distinctly wrong here, but whatever it is, it escapes me ...
More tears for James Brown
Wonder how many tears for TIARA SPENCER ? She indeed needed some proper guidence in life.
To leave the old with a burst of song
To recall the right and forgive the wrong;
To forget the thing that binds you fast
To the vain regrets of the year that's past;
To have the strength to let go your hold
Of the not worthwhile of the days grown old,
To dare to go forth with a purpose true,
To the unknown task of the year that's new;
To help your brother along the road
To do his work and lift his load;
To add your gift to the world's good cheer,
Is to have and to give a Happy New Year.
Her sentencing should be to have to get a job and start replacing every single item she has destroyed. The only way a liar, thief,or a scam artist will ever learn anything is to dish out proper punishment to fit the crime.
Since she is 18 years old she should have to work, be on home confinement wearing the ankle bracelet to monitor her every move. From her proceeds she should be allowed bare necessities such as minimal food and clothing and housing and not allowed to own a thing until she pays for what she destroyed. The way to break an egg sucking dog is not to kill the chickens.
And such a pretty young lady, what a waste.
I wonder if shes been in trouble with the law before this.

She'll get a few years in jail, then be released to be an upstanding citizen the rest of her life. Chances are, she's a 1-time offender.
Meanwhile, what good does that do the owners or patrons of the stores she destroyed? Where's the incentive to other budding pyromaniacs to contain their flaming urges?

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!!
CB, I just wanted to thank you for letting me know about my friend's home. That makes me feel better. Still haven't been able to get in touch with her, so I hadn't found out anything until I read your post.
Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!!
No problem Smiley. I didn't see anyone home; usually the kids are peeping out the window. After what they saw Friday night (up close and personal), they may never peep out the window again.
Anyone doing anything fun for New Year's Eve tonight?
CB
yeah me? wanna make it a twosome.
if she don't make it a twosome is it still gonna be fun for ya?

Darkness and light...
'I call on you not to hate because hate does not leave space for a person to be fair. It makes you blind and closes all doors of thinking.' The man who said this was hanged on Saturday. Even in the coldest hearts, there are places where the warmth of wisdom still shines. Conversely, even in the most enlightened minds, there can still be areas where the ugly shadows of ignorance fall. As long as any human being on this earth sees justification in killing another human, no matter how terrible their crimes... we are all living in darkness.
Killing another human being for killing others may be blindness but I hope the day will arrive and soon that all that commits crimes no matter how little or how large that crime is, until punishment is reinstated I agree some will definitely be blind.
When you got the death penalty for causing death you very seldom heard of anyonw being killed. But just as soon as capitol punishment went out the window it is now on the news everyday in every place in the world .
As long as any human being on this earth sees justification in killing another human, no matter how terrible their crimes... we are all living in darkness.
Until it is mandatory again to be die for killing yep you are so right...we are all living in darkness.
Happy New Year!!!
still celebrating smiley/td. me too. cupa java, warm fire and chinese chicken hash for a snack. one problem is that little house out back. oh well maybe next year.
The purveyors of death (authorities) are no better than the perpetrators. Someone who takes the ultimate gift that we have cannot be of a sane mind. A good topic if you are living in the now.
In some countrys if you get caught stealing they cut your hands off.
Clayberry would sure have a lot of handless people if it was the punishment here. I guarantee you could leave your home, auto, store or whatever you have without it being MIA when you return.
Mommys and Daddys seen in Wal Mart with kicking screaming snotlikkers and their idea of correction!!! Now Honey don't do that, or its ok sweety show mommy how dumb she is to let you run the show should get a grip on things with one of Roses willow switches and only then will kids behave and not grow up to act like idiots stealing the neighborhood blind, destroying by night what you work for by day.
I would like to know where you people live that hump up and just let others do whatever they want to do to you. Maybe you have something I could use or sell because evidently you will allow anyone that wants to do what ever they want to do and you still turn that Proverbial Cheek.
WOULD YOU BELIEVE THIS ???.....HOW COINCIDENTAL...........
Thought you would enjoy this little blurb of information!
Many will recall that on July 8, 1947, witnesses claimed that an unidentified object with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep and cattle ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico. This is a well-known incident that many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and the federal government.
However, you may NOT know that in the month of March 1948, exactly nine months after that historic day, Albert Arnold Gore, Jr., Hillary Rodham, John F. Kerry, William Jefferson Clinton, Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, Charles E. Schumer, and Barbara Boxer were born.
See what happens when aliens breed with sheep? This piece of information may clear up a lot of things.
Uh ... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
To get us all out of the darkness, perhaps we should bring back public floggings. No killing, just flog & flog 'til they beg for mercy, then put 'em back in their jail cells, give 'em some free medical attention & once they're healed up nicely, take 'em out & flog 'em some more. As "rehab" for the abusers & beaters in jail, we could let them get in on the flogging so they could get all those nasty little urges out of their systems. Is that better?
Uh ... HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The reason we cannot execute prisoners can be said in two words, Fred Zain
Courthouse News Flash:::: According to the County Clerks office on Friday Mr Jesse Sizemore entered the County Commissions Room and removed the 10 Commandments Plaque from the courtroom. A warrant will be issued early Tuesday Jan 2, 2007 for the arrest of one Mr. Jesse Sizemore for stealing PUBLIC PROPERTY. Yes they are Public property as is the rest of the courthouse and furnishings therein. It was voted on by the CCC back in the spring for the display to remain in the courthouse therefore making them a courthouse fixture.
I just wonder what dumb look he will have trying to explain to the judge why he is a thief.
Does that mean he will have to give up his newly appointed seat? Or like the rest of the thieves that get those jobs just fit right in.

I'd like to see somebody try to slap WVChic, though. If it was the original slapper, things would turn out much, much differently. BAHAHAHAHAHA LOL

Were you saying that with a Dracula'ish accent, ? ??
It was a good whole day!

Jesse says he didn't steal the 10. I think God phoned Jimmy and said, "You don't want me to come down there and straighten this out do you????"
I haven't missed a CCC meeting in a long time. Sams always said the display was his property that he got from janitor Ann Osborne. The CCC never voted as a group to do anything.

Anony"mouse" must be a gutless liar. I did not steal the plastic plaque bearing a paraphrased portion of the decalogue. Any one that testifies that I did is committing perjury; and, they are also violating the Ten Commandments by bearing false witness. Anony"mouse" must believe that the Ten Commandment only apply to others. I have seen many signs that announce "I support the Ten Commandments"; I have yet to see any signs in the County that say "I live by the Ten Commandments." Anony"mouse" should only speak of what he knows of. In anony"mouse" knew what he is speaking then he would attatch his name to his words.
The County Commission chose not to vote on this unconstitutional religous display. Mr. Sams placed this plaque on the wall in the County Commision meeting room without a vote by the Commission. When questioned about the constitutionality of this display he said that it his personal display in his personal work space. His personal work space now is in Clendennin. Maybe Mr. Sams took his personal display to his personal work space in his pawn shop where his clientel may read it and consider the word of
God while conducting business in the pawn shop.
People who must say things anymously must be committing slander for otherwise they would attatch their name to their words without fear.
putting the religious issue aside, I always thought taking another persons property without their permission was stealing or robbery. in this case taking property that was in the custody of our county officials without permission. looks like a flagrant violation of the law to me. seems to me the man violated the commandments that he says he upholds. Thou shall not steal.

sorry about that. didn't intend to double dip.
Some things bear repeating, LS.
Did anybody see Newt Gingrich's "One Nation Under God - Religion and History in Washington, DC" on Fox News Channel?
I think the county commioners should all wear T-shirts with religious messages on them to every meeting. It'd be interesting to see who hollers the loudest about making them remove their shirts ...
Blah Blah Blah politics shmolitics!!
I'm a lookin' at the snow outside. Ain't it purdy!!!!!!
big fat fairy shows his/her ignorance occasionally in thrs comments. but by all means say what's on your mind.
Maybe it a good thing the 10 are gone maybe God will not send a lighting bolt down on the commission with the new commissioner whe he breaks them. May save some lives
Wow now the people in the courthouse will be at ease now there missing. Some can field a reliefe of the 10 that they broke with the kingdom of grand lancelot
WTF are you people saying? What language is that? Talk about ignorance. You sound like a bunch of idiots.
Nothing makes your stupid shine like the way you talk. Look at Dan Quayle.
we just say tators
I hope nobody from the outside world is looking at this illiterate representation.

This place just goes to h*ll on a regular basis, doesn't it?
OK, time for a new something or other to talk about ...
Pass the word as the CCC agenda will once again be The Ten Commandments Plaque stolen from the court house. Tell all your bible thumping Neighbors to come on out and force the issue to have an arrest and conviction for PUBLIC PROPERTY theft.
Also for the removal of one BDA represenative that is a little more then SHADY. ONE ROTTEN APPLE WILL ROT THE Whole BOX. Works the same way for those representing the PUBLIC>
George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.
George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked, "Is someone in your house"? and he said "no." Then they said that all the patrols were busy and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available.
George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30 and phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago, because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now cause I've just shot them all." Then he hung up.
Within five minutes, three police cars, an Armed Response unit and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips residence and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

This is in reference to the post by "lone stranger": I don't think many in this great county of ours can honestly say that they have always followed the 10 Commandments to the letter. Since the 10 Commandment issue came up, I have witnessed my neighbors bearing false witness against eachother in more ways then one. I am glad that the 10 Commandments were taken down (not stolen). As Christians or believers in any faith, we should use our energy to help those in need and quit making un-Christian-like remarks about our neighbors. Jimmy Samms said that the 10 Commandment plaque was his personal property. He should have taken it with him when he left office. I still feel that as
a Christian, I don't need the Commandments on a wall for me to remember the WORDS and their true meaning. I carry those words in my heart as all Christians should. Does GOD really want us to fight over a plaque or live by the HIS WORDS?
I'm not sure exactly why but this blog is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I'll check back later on and see if the
problem still exists.

I drop a leave a response when I especially enjoy
a post on a website or I have something to contribute to the conversation.
Usually it's a result of the sincerness displayed in the article I browsed. And on this article "HAPPY NEW YEAR!". I was moved enough to write a comment :) I do have a few questions for you if it's allright.
Is it simply me or does it appear like some of the responses appear
like they are written by brain dead people? :-P And, if you are posting on additional online sites, I'd like to follow everything new you have to post. Could you make a list the complete urls of your public pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
