To the few "Mindless" businessmen who are wanting to run for political office that have beat the gas issue to death the past three weeks at Tudor's and GoMart you can shut up. We have stood our ground and demanded equality with the rest of the state and recieved it. Not by the sweat of your brow but by the continued efforts of ONE commissioner. When it was time to go to Charleston two commissioners stayed in Clay only one went to represent us. When the leak was on the backstreet Friday one Lady was there asking if help was need or who to call. So was weary about the female commissioner but I for one will support her 100%. At least she is not afraid of work or tackling the Charleston Buracracy!!

Why don't we talk about something productive.
Like, why does the government take someone's drivers license for failing to pay child support, yet they still expect that person to get to and from work? How is that possible if there arn't any taxi services, bus runs or any public transportation?
Another, Why does the government strongly monitor how much a person owes in child support but will not even consider monitoring if the money is actually being spent on the child? I know several persons that get the monthly check and spend it on drugs and such and the child never gets a penny of it.
And then there was the girl named Wanda who used her child support money to buy herself a new car (nothing wrong with the old one) and got her some new clothes and trinkets while sending thier little girl back to her daddy, being filthy dirty in old ratty clothes week after week after week after week.
child support is exactly what it says. support for the child, not toys and everything that the kid cries for. support go to bills, clothes for the family, cars, anything that can help the family make it, even mommy going out(woohoo) sometimes just need a break. -- i think it should NOT DRUGS OR ILLEGAL-- but it wouldn't be my business.
if mommy supports the child all alone for 10 years and then gets a lump sum for back payment, then it is not the kids money--like many think it should be--it is hers. it reimbursement for half the expenses that she paid out for.

Whoa, back up there a minute WVChic. My husband does and has paid child support for his child, so I am directly connected.
They do take his tax returns, garnish his check and did put a hold on his license. Anyone owing child support, regardless of what they owe if any, must report it to DMV.
I don't know your circumstance, but in ours he is trying to be part of his childs life and it is the mother that prevents him. He pays weekly, like clockwork and still only gets to see his kid when it is convienant for her. The court system has never found her in contempt for violating court ordered visitation, even though he can prove that she does it every month.
Lets even go deeper here. This child has been abused. Physically, mentally and sexually. The child was even raped by a member of her family. The physical abuse was dealt to the child by her family and live in boy toys. My husband has called CPS on numerous occasions, there are documented police reports, yet guess where the child is? The judge even had the ass to say that he didnt want to disrupt the childs life and give custody to his father! I guess getting abused isn't disruptive. He has petitioned for custody over five times!
CPS gave the mother a 30 minute class and said she was rehabilitated. Bullcrap! He calls them to report drug use, they ignore it. They don't do anything! Nothing, notta!
As for the support payments, we agree some should go to bills, etc. but when the child is going without clothes and personal items, while the mom and step dad roll another joint, then yeah they need monitored. Maybe it should be on a case by case basis, but right now the law doesn't even allow for that.
Every case is unique, and while I feel for you having to do it alone and probably counting on those support payments, our case is different. The law should account for or at least provide a different solution for all instances that may occur.

He can not afford an attorney. She got a legal aid attorney, only used them 1 time, but that blocked him from getting help because they say it is a conflict of interest for them.

CPS in Clay County takes on a whole new twist. Its all about who you know or are related too. They took a girls kids last week because there were RUMORS of drug use in the home, we can prove drug use, have told them and the sheriff when and where it is purchased and we are ignored.
We filed a state complaint on the CPS worker that handled my husbands case, she was fired BUT they refused to send a new impartial worker to investigate again.
Obviously you are wrong anonymous, check with the court house or call child support enforcement. When a person is ordered to pay support, the bureau for child support enforcement always sends out a wage garnishment order if they know where the person is working.
If the county doesnt handle it right then go to the state level. Who in their right mind would put a child in a home where documented abuse is occuring. Call the news tell them. They like a good story. Maybe something will happen then.

Seems MP has been working sucessfully to get Apco and Elk Power to take responsibility for fixing the lines and ensuring less power outages. Look closely at the engineers final recommendation, Apco has to make several updates and the changed a faulty recloser that was affecting service.
