Did You Hear About ..

HAMLIN, WV -- The Hamlin City Council voted unanimously Monday to fire J.D. Scites, 20, after State Police arrested him on Friday and charged him with two counts of third-degree sexual assault. He is accused of having sex with two girls ages 14 and 15. Scites was a Hamlin police officer. State Police are still investigating whether Scites was in a personal vehicle or a city-owned cruiser and whether he was on duty at the time of either alleged incident.

HUNTINGTON CANYON, UT -- Dangerous conditions that forced rescuers to halt attempts to reach six trapped miners will prevent crews from reaching the men for at least a week, a mining executive said.

BROOKLYN, NY -- The National Weather Service confirmed at 5:12 p.m. that a tornado touched down in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn this morning. The tornado was classified as a 2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which goes from 0 to 5. An EF2 tornado consists of winds of 111 to 135 miles per hour.

CHARLESTON, WV -- A Kanawha County prosecutor filed a motion today asking that four charges of sexual abuse against former Capital High School teacher, Tyrone Keith Persinger, be dismissed. A jury found Tyrone Keith Persinger not guilty in March on two charges of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian. But the jury was deadlocked on the remaining four charges, and a mistrial was declared. Assistant Prosecutor Don Morris said he spoke with the teenage victims -- all former Capital High students -- and their families, and none wanted to proceed with another emotional trial.

"Woman burned during nose removal surgery sues doctor
August 08, 2007 11:20 AM"

http://www.wchstv.com/newsroom/wv/news14.shtml

This is a story on Channel 8's website. People must remember that nose removal is very dangerous and that they should give it a lot of thought before going ahead with it.

ROSE said...

LOL There's a lot to be said for proof-reading, huh?

Anonymous said...

I tink its highly raverated myshelf.

Anonymous said...

if the nose has become contaminated and turned brown best to leave it alone. it has become habituated to the position and the odors of contamination emanating from the position and removal or disturbance would probably cause both the nosee and the noser to go into convulsions but would likely cause consideral glee among their close associates.

And then there is this....

Hillary Clinton is running for president.

Now the strange part...
No one has been admitted to any hospitals for uncontrollable fits of laughter.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

PRINCETON, Ind. -- Three people have been killed in mining accident at the Gibson mine in southern Indiana, police said Friday afternoon.

A firefighter with knowledge of the situation described the accident, which happened at about noon EDT, as a collapse. Details about how it happened and the names of the people who died weren't available.

The firefighter told 6News that a dispatcher initially said one person died in the accident and that two helicopters were being sent to the scene. The dispatcher later said the helicopters were turned back because others had died and there was no one else to take to a hospital, the firefighter said.

ROSE said...

Good lord!!

Didn't it happen that way after Sago? First Sago, then what seemed like a lot of mining catastrophes elsewhere, too? It seemed like every day, they were talking about something along those lines on the news.

Anonymous said...

had two days of disaster in the stock market. the Fed. pumped 86 billion dollars into the big banks to keep them all from going bust. guess who will finally pay the bill.

Anonymous said...

Even after 86 billion, Countrywide, the nations largest mortgage lender is filing bankruptcy. That's not a good sign.

ROSE said...

Bankruptcy rarely means "broke" - it's usually just a "restructuring of debt" to weasle out of as much of it as possible.

CountryWide's advertising budget alone is probably enough to float a small company for years.

I don't think it's coincidental that in the midst of all the stock market hoopla, the commercials for debt management/consolidation companies has quadrupled. Or so it seems.

did AW SAY jl was trying to embezzele a little money by trying to write a grant to acquire money for work that had already been done? gonna get hotter i think.

Anonymous said...

Yep!

Anonymous said...

Oh brother! He could have at least used a little imagination.

Anonymous said...

If MP can get away with embezzlement, it should be a piece of cake for JL.

Anonymous said...

what did MP embezzle?

ROSE said...

Good lord. We're surely not going there again, are we?

How about this little ditty:
===================================
A Morgantown man, his mother and his friend are suing McDonald's for $10 million. Jeromy Jackson says he bit into a hamburger and had a severe allergic reaction to the cheese melted on it.

Jeromy, who is in his early 20s, says he clearly ordered two Quarter Pounders without cheese at the McDonald's restaurant in Star City before heading to Clarksburg.

His mother Trela Jackson and friend Andrew Ellifritz are parties to the lawsuit because they say they risked their lives rushing Jeromy to United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
===================================

I think I should be a party to the lawsuit, too, because ... um ... I wasted my valuable time reading the article, then finding myself unable to resist the urge to copy & paste it here.

Y'all want to get in on it, too? Maybe we could get a class action suit going.

Anonymous said...

I think that if I were "that" allergic to cheese I would check the burger before taking a bite. Because as an adult this would be a LIFE OR DEATH HABIT, I had developed.
Too reminiscent of the one who sued McdD's because her coffee was hot.
Can you say, "IM TOO LAZY TO WORK FOR MY INCOME!!!"

Anonymous said...

don't seem to be much interesting tonight. might as mell take a meteror shower. will that appear in the crab constellation. my groin been itching something awful. must be the toe itch.

ROSE said...

If a pair of lost pants is worth a $68 million lawsuit, it stands to reason 2 burgers - that come with cheese anyway - would be worth $10 million.

I wonder, though, if Jeromy was close to the throes of death, why his mom didn't call an ambulance?

Which might be what you want to consider, Sickly. teeheehee

Anonymous said...

nothing specific on where the loan money was obtained or under what kind of contract or when or how much loan repayments were or who to.

Anonymous said...

Why would they not go to WVU hospital almost within sight of the Star City exit rather than going 40 minutes to Clarksburg?

Ya can't fix stupid!

ROSE said...

Because then they'd only get to sue for $5 million??

This actually made a blurb on ... Fox News, I think.

Incidentally, the guy who sued for $68 million over the lost pants is now being sued by the dry cleaners he lost to - they're making him pay the legal fees & such that bankrupted them.

Anonymous said...

I hope they win, what sort of a**hole would sue someone for that much for something like that and think they could win. I wonder what his legal fees were?

ROSE said...

OMG, this is just one of those classic "ya just gotta shake your head" kind of stories.

I think the Washington Post said the legal fees for the Korean dry cleaner owners was $80-something-thousand.

Roy Pearson, the dude who sued for $65 million (not 68, like I thought), is a JUDGE in Washington, DC (surprise, surprise!). He'd be part of the 99% of lawyers that give the rest of them a bad name. teeheehee

I finally made another trip to Clay today. On my way back up the river, I got to thinking about the way they have 55 mph limit going down and 40 mph going up.

Not to argue for them to make it the same limit both ways, for the simple reason it would be smart, but how about making it the same limit both ways for the danger created when someone going up river in the 40 zone passes a slower car, then meets a car coming around the next turn, not going 40 or so like they are, but 55.
Sounds like lawsuit time, if they survive the accident, that is.

every man/woman for himself.

ROSE said...

So ... coming out of Clay, you go straight from 25 to 40, while the folks coming at you are going 55? Most crash tests are done at 35
MPH? Something like that. When do you suppose the majority of vehicles traveling to & from Clay were crash test participants? Just floor it & hope for the best. Isn't that the way most people drive?

Nobody starts up a blog to "change the world." Blogs are started out of boredom, left to lie dormant out of boredom & revived out of boredom. The "world changers" are just so full of BS they don't realize how boring they are.

The biggest challenge with this particular type of blog is coming up with topics that interest enough people to get a good dialog going. Past history here has proven that the most stimulating topics are extramarital affairs, arrests of prominent people & the actions of idiots. It's too hot to have an affair, prominent people aren't getting caught & the idiots ... well, the idiots are keeping their mouths shut.

Also heard that she got a shit load of alimony and child support. I know he works for slury pavers and that he makes darn good money, so that last part might just be true.

But again, all of this is rumorville, so might none of it be true.

Anonymous said...

They make girls twice the size of MP? WOuldn't you drink if you lived with her?

Anonymous said...

Seems, that part about him not paying child support could be true....his other kid by his 1st wife didnt get any either...but I heard that was because MP wouldnt let him support that boy, she needed the money for her toys, all those cars she was buying from Ebay and four wheelers she has. But then again, that was gossip so I wonder if it was true......OMG, it was straight from the horses (I mean, Cows) mouth, so we why would she lie about it????

Anonymous said...

Welfare fraud, tax evasion, not paying child support, embezzlement. Too bad Clay County is too broke to pay the jail bill.

Anonymous said...

Well I know from personal experience that if you are working and have a child support obligation, it comes right out of your check, so mp wouldnt have a say whether or not he paid. He had to pay or he would be in jail with my ex.

Anonymous said...

Not if he was getting paid under the table. And that's why she can get welfare. They should both be in jail with your ex!

Anonymous said...

Let those without sin cast the first stone. As a long time reader of these blogs it has become increasingly apparant that all they are used for is to trash other people. Whether you like them or not you should not start rumors. What ever you do will come back to you ten fold. Please remember that whenever you talk about someone else.

Whether you like them or not you should not start rumors.

Read your history on Injuns they had copper long before the Eueropean invasion along with gold, silver and other metals. As far as using a penny on other insect bites it may work as I have never tried it on anything but stings. Injuns did invent Duct tape just right after Custers last stand.

Aug 28 am Here in Clayberry rumors come and go. Some persist. With the exception of one person who claims to have seen first hand, the stories on Jim Knotts have been just that, rumors and nothing more.
Aug 28 am That changed Monday evening when James Lester Knotts was arrested on three charges: sexual abuse; sexual assault, and incest. He was taken to Central Regional Jail and booked at 10:40pm Monday evening.
Aug 28 am Born in 1949, Knotts is the long time owner of a local hardware store and senior member of the Clay County Business Development Authority.

I see on A.W.'s site that the School Board discussed selling Valley Fork Ele. School last night.

Don't know what they talked about, but from what I heard, when the property was donated to the school system, it had a clause placed in the deed that said whenever it ended being used for a school, it would go back to the original owner.

Just something I heard, If anyone has time to walk in the deeds room at the court house, it'd be interesting to find out for sure.

Every single day, we hear about somebody being arrested for some sex-related crime - usually against children. I wonder ... has this always been the case? Or is it just less taboo to talk about now? I wonder how much the internet & the trash on TV contribute?

Anonymous said...

to Rose's comment on Tue Aug 28, 08:35:00 PM:

We as parents tell our children from the time they are old enough to walk that no one is allowed to touch their "private" areas and if someone does, to come and tell us (the parents). It is not wrong of our children to tell what is happening. This way, the children can prevent this from happening to another child. Why should the child take that kind of abuse? I am proud of the children that tell.

As for the trash on the tv, most sexual perverts have a long collection of pornos. As for the tv and internet being behind this... The guy is the adult, he should be able to controll the urge to rape little girls.

Anonymous said...

The internet created a lot of perverts. Look at all the porn some local bloggers had in the past. You didn't use to be able to get that kind of sh*t with a click of a key.

Anonymous said...

rose do you expect us to punish our children for the telling the truth? or do you want us to sit back and close our eyes so children can continue to be molested and abused? when your children were young did you tell them that no body could touch them "you know where" and to tell you if some body did? or are you pissed because a high powered man in the county was charged with being a pervert? or do you chose to leave your blinders on and not see what is happening?

ROSE said...

I'm wondering what it is that I said, Anon, that you translated into meaning I'm p*ssed because perverts are being caught, because I can tell you, you've grossly mistranslated.

Let me see if I can make my position on this perfectly clear so there's absolutely no room for mistranslation.

I think a lot of children have told a lot of truth about a lot of things, but it's only recently that adults have started listening. I could site you dozens of instances of people my own age who were sexually abused as children, but "back then," nobody stepped up & arrested anybody like they do today. People looked the other way, ignored what was happening & hoped the girls would just get over it.

I think the internet is a huge contributor to the serious moral decline in our world. It provides a ready, easy access, world-wide drive-thru for child porn addicts to buy, sell, trade & watch for free anything that turns them on, which perpetuates their lust for live, hands-on experiences.

I think adults who abuse children should be rendered sexually useless (yes, castrated) & permanently tattooed on the forehead so the world knows exactly what they are. I think they should be handed over to the family of the abused, who should lock them away in a cage, to be taken out & tortured at will.

HOWEVER, I personally know of a case right now that's being investigated by CPS that's based on absolutely nothing but a phone call from one family member who is p*ssed off at another. When CPS concluded their original investigation & determined that absolutely no abuse was taking place, another phone call was made & the case was reopened.

There are cases of teachers being fired because they spurned the advances of teenage girls; cases of prepubscent girls unjustly accusing their fathers of incest because Dad gave curfews she didn't like ... the list goes on & on.

If we did things my way instead of the right way in this country, all these guys would be walking around with nothing but a scars between their legs. Obviously, for the sake of innocent people everywhere, my way isn't exactly the best way.

Women are just as bad. They're the "maternal influences" on children and more & more, they're abusing that influence & getting their jollies from innocent little boys. It's a sick, disgusting world we're living in.

The thing about "high powered people" is that their perceived "power" makes them feel like they're above the law. THEY ARE NOT. It also puts them in a position where people are intimidated by them & are reluctant to speak up. That's total BS. I don't care if you're my neighbor, my principal, my governor or my granddaddy, if you lay your hands on a child in an inappropriate manner, your a*s should fry & your tallywhacker should be used as the fuse that lights the flame.

There needs to be ZERO TOLERANCE for child abuse of any sort. Today's kids are tomorrow's leaders & if they're all warped from their childhood experiences, the whole world is screwed. There should be NO HESITATION to speak up, whether it's against a local business owner, a politician, a family member, etc etc etc. Lives will be changed, but if nobody speaks up, lives can be RUINED.

Anonymous said...

Another reason there are more cases of child molestation showing up is that the mothers in the families are now able to take care of their kids financially. They don't have to depend on the husband to do it. Therefore, they aren't as afraid to speak out and or get out when it happens. Whereas before it was tolerated because the mothers didn't feel like they had anywhere else to turn.

Anonymous said...

and then there's the mother/son cases that are never mentioned. a no no for society yet.

Anonymous said...

And as a man if I wash my daughter and clean her genital area I am accused of child molestation. It is a sick society we live in when we can not dress or undress our own children or correct them when they do wrong. Some cases may be true but I think alot is for a grudge or payback. CPS is a sick organization that will do anything they can to disrupt the family just as our school system has a few sickos also.

Anonymous said...

I wonder how hard it is for CPS to distinguish between the legitmate cases and the cases where people just call in to get someone else in trouble. I read in the paper that the CPS workers have over 100 cases each to work on. Sounds to me like CPS needs an overhaul. I guess Joe better start looking into privitizing that too.

Anonymous said...

Its not hard at all for them to distinguish abuse, after coaching kids and telling them how easy they will have it after they are taken from the home. Thats what they are paid to do and they are good at their jobs. Of course they get bonuses or kickbacks from Lawyers, Judges, and other organizations that work hand in hand with them.
