FRANKENSTORM ?

I spoke with representatives of the Red Cross this morning - if you sustained any damage - ANY DAMAGE - during this week's storm (or if you know of anybody who has), please email me at barefootwonder@aol.com or call 304-548-7014 ASAP. They're assessing damage in Clay, Braxton & Webster counties so that FEMA can see how extensive our damage is. "Damage" includes downed power lines, trees on vehicles/dwellings, etc. Even if your damage isn't "extensive," ALL damage needs to be reported!!
Also, if there's anything you - or anybody you know - need, please let me know. The Red Cross has resources ready & available for distribution & there are people who can offer much needed assistance. Sadly, Clay County lacks the leadership to get those resources where they're needed most. If I can't help, I can at least try to find someone who can. Please spread the word.
I hope you all fared as well as I did.

Anyone? Anyone??

I've searched the internet & there's absolutely nothing out there worthy of taking up space here.  The weather is normal again, politicians are keeping a low profile, criminals are staying inside where it's cool & the gossip well seems to have run dry.  In the overall scheme of things, life is good.

"WORST STORM I EVER SAW!"

Cantrell Mountain survived another one!   :)

Judging by the power lines sliced, trees on lines & the fact that we're the end of the infrastructure line, we may never see electricity again.  Up until an hour ago, our phone was working, but nobody else's was, so ours just gave up & died, too.   No cell service, but as long as the generator's running, the internet's up!  All available containers are filled with water, 'cause we all know that's the next to go.   In the overall scheme of things, it could've been a lot worse.

I hope y'all survived & don't have too much to talk about except the trees in your yard.  If you're coming this way, I could sure use a pizza.

HAPPY MAY!!

Yeah, I know I've neglected this blog a little, but ... life has been a bit crazy.

I completely dropped the ball on spreading the word about the annual H.E. White ramp dinner (SORRY!), but it was great seeing so many of you there!  As usual, it was EXCELLENT!!  The ones during election years are always "easiest" because we have so much extra help, which is always appreciated!!

I just want to take a minute to thank you all - this blog started as a quirky little "what the heck is a blog" almost 7 years ago & I love being able to go back & read the old threads.  So many of my original posters are gone now & having this little piece of them live on forever ... well, y'all know how sentimental I am.  ;-)

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields and,

Until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION

On Jan. 24th, the Senate is expected to pass a bill for the first ever U.S. internet censorship system. While the Senate is holding town halls and meetings at home, they need to hear why they need to block the vote and kill this bill.

http://americancensorship.org/

I am writing to you as a voter in your district. I urge you to vote "no" on cloture for S. 968, the PROTECT IP Act, on Jan. 24th. The PROTECT IP Act is dangerous, ineffective, and short-sighted. It does not deserve floor consideration. I urge my representative to vote "no" on SOPA, the corresponding House bill.

Over coming days you'll be hearing from the many businesses, advocacy organizations, and ordinary Americans who oppose this legislation because of the myriad ways in which it will stifle free speech and innovation. We hope you'll take our concerns to heart and oppose this legislation by voting "no" on cloture.

SEE YA, 2011!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

MAY 2012 BE FILLED WITH PEACE, PROSPERITY, JOY, LOVE & ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL.

... short of that, I hope it's at least relatively happy.
