LOVE YOU, DAD!!

Have you heard about the protesters who were arrested at Twilight surface mine? Four of them climbed a dragline & one of the doofuses had to go to the hospital. They're all being charged with felony conspiracy, trespassing, fleeing on foot, littering and battery.

Read those charges again. They came here from out-of-state to protest what they think is a horrible, ugly practice. Then they broke law after law, left their trash everywhere, wasted the time of Boone County & state law enforcement ...

I'm all for saving the earth, but if this is what we're saving it for, it might be best to just let it go.

I think we should just let them continue destroying these mountains around here so we can have the alternative living conditions. That is poisoning the water, plagued with tornadoes, hurricanes, devastating flooding and with all that we can add nothing to keep carbon monoxide posoning from killing us.

Here's an interesting (or not) something that happened to me today ...

This afternoon, I stopped at the McDonalds in Elkview. I ordered a Happy Meal with McNuggets, fries & water to drink. I was told I couldn't get a Happy Meal with water unless I wanted to pay extra for bottled. I asked why. The employee said she'd ask, disappeared, came back & said the manager said that "Happy Meals are designed for fountain drinks" or something to that affect. So I said, "So McDonalds would rather our children drink Coke than water?" She said, "I guess so." She went on to say that water is free & drinks are not, so Happy Meals have to come with fountain drinks. When I asked if I could pay the fountain drink price - the price of the FULL MEAL listed on the menu - & just get water instead, she said no.

The offered options in lieu of pop were milk or apple juice. Which says to me that if you have a lactose intolerant child, s/he either has to drink pop or less than 7 ounces of apple juice at 100 calories a box. Otherwise, you have to pay for a bottle of water, which totally negates the posted Happy Meal price.

Yea, McDonalds!

& yes, I did rush right home & send McDonalds a scathing email. LOL

The doofus that went to the hospital was a employee not a protester. Unless the miners protested too.

You go Ms Rose McDonalds don't get my business anyway as they use castor oil for cooking. Ever wonder why you have to hit the red brush after eating there? Cramp you to death also.

Oh well after having to pay for people getting fat off their garbage its no wonder they give you the s&%Ts

Anonymous said...

seems to me you should try McDonalds more often.

ROSE said...

LOL McDonald's has good coffee & their grilled chicken sandwiches aren't too bad. The Happy Meal yesterday was purchased solely for the toy. LOL

If you're in the Bickmore neighborhood today, blow the horn when you pass The Party! You'll see us - can't miss us!

Happy Father's Day to my two Dad's, lost one in 1980 and the other in 1993 but their spirit, love and laughter are still shared by all of us who knew them. So hug your Dad today! You never know!
And I miss you both!

WOOOOO HOOOOOOO!! Has this been the best weekend ever or what?!

Saw a wobbly little fawn on the way home from Charleston today. It used to be, "Awwwwww, ain't he cute?" now it's "Awwwwww, ain't he gonna be tasty?" LOL

Last month, I bought a tomato plant at the Farmers Market. Everybody told me it was a mistake, 'cause you needed to plant tomatoes from *seeds* because the plants never transplant well. Mind you, every plant I've ever looked at has died. I have the world's worst black thumb.

I named my lone tomato plant Bob (remember Veggie Tales?). Instead of proving everybody right, I left Bob in his original container. I've watered him, moved him in & out of the sun & praised his beauty on a daily basis. Today, Bob rewarded me with the reddest, most delicious, juiciest tomato ever.

I love Bob.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

ROSE said...

Thanks for the birthday wishes!! Still debating whether I'm going to work on my birthday or sleep in & hang out in my jammies all day with the AC cranked to full blast ... like this is a difficult decision. LOL

SmileyTD said...

Thank you for the kind Father's Day wishes, "Anon". Happy Belated Father's Day to you, as well. :)

Hope you have a wonderful birthday, Rose!!

Happy Birthday Girl!

ROSE said...

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for those birthday wishes!

Sat on the porch & finished one book, started another, did a few loads of laundry & called myself DONE. To some, that may seem boring, boring, boring - the difference between 20 something & 40 something is that yesterday's "boring" is today's much-deserved relaxation. LOL

Don't take alot to amuse old people. The simple things in life are always the best reward as it don't cost you a cent.

ROSE said...

LOL Amen!

What happened to Deputy Belt's truck? How much ya reckon a new bumper's gonna cost us?

Anybody know anything about CNN being in the county today??

Anonymous said...

Did he give himself a ticket? Or do a field sobriety test?

Remember Hillary Clinton's universal health care plan? The one that Canadians have & hate & die from? That's the one Obama's pushing now.

If the new plan sucks as much as either of the government health care plans we already have - Medicaid & Medicare - we're all gonna die, whether we're sick or not.

Anonymous said...

The way them deputy's drive its a wonder it wasn't a lot worst.

Anonymous said...

Ms Rose the sad thing about that health care plan in Canada is that you die sitting in a waiting room waiting for a dr. or even a nurse to screen you for sickness symptons. Maybe thats the revenge for the slavery when this country was formed.

There is a revolution soon to begin in this country. Taxpayers have just about had it now with government waste and spending money they don't have. Things are going down hill now like a snowball headed for lleh.

this yere revolution already begun weuns done had it up to our ears. i say wipe em out wipe em out wipe them dirty a''es out.

guten morgen Rose;
will there be anything interesting today? AW has a nice imperial moth pictured on his page. none of the larger ones have made an appearance here yet. seen the chestnut trees are blooming and the farmers are getting the moo-moos some winter feed. I remember when I was in the service I got heyed a lot. hey you hey you pick up that cigarette butt. now I go to the clinic its hey you, your blood pressure is to high. Gov. says no higher than 140. that causes it to go higher yet. they never say anything when my medical bills are way too high. just shove it to him. give him more, more, more. but i'm learning how to ride that welfare horsey. gitta up gitta up, hi yo silver away.

Good morning, all you rays of sunshine!

Kentucky's passing a law that all American flags flown in the state have to be made in America. Whoever's making laws in Kentucky needs to be making them on a broader scale.

Did you hear about Darrell Hannah (A Fish Called Wanda) being arrested in Raleigh County as part of a mountaintop removal protest?

Protests are a great exercise in
the fundamental freedom of speech rights our country was founded on. I'd be way more impressed, though, if the protestors were *somebody* & not a bunch of washed-up has-beens with nothing else to do with their time.

Anonymous said...

well with your version of protestors Rose, guess i'll not do any protesting.

ROSE said...

LOL Well, if you're going to try to milk some publicity from your protest, at least get somebody who can bring in some publicity. Who gives a rip about what Darryl Hannah & Ken Hechler think? Pffffft.

ROSE said...

LS? You hittin the sauce?

The other day when Ed McMahon died, it was sad, but Mr. McMahon lived a full life.

This morning, Farrah Fawcett died. What little girl in the 70s didn't want to be Farrah Fawcett? I idolized her.

Now Michael Jackson is dead. Long before he started turning white, long before he was accused of child molestation, long before he became whatever it was he became, Michael Jackson was a demi-god. I know I certainly worshipped him at one time.

It's funny how I don't know these people, but their deaths seem to be having a profound effect on me. Like little by little, pieces of my childhood are dying & eventually, there won't be anything left.

ls said...

hey Rose don't cry we all gonna die.
sauce, yeah , i been associating with Ms Wine.
I sit in the pines, in the pines, where the sun never shines
and shiver when the cold wind blows.

ROSE said...

Yeah, LS, we're all gonna die. LOL

What I think is funny is that I bawl every time somebody I've ever even heard of has died, but I don't want any tears when my time comes.

I want a PARTY!! A great big huge one that lasts for days & days. Loud music, lots of laughter, lots of lies about what a great person I was & how great I look ... BAHAHAHAHA LOL

Anonymous said...

Well Ms Rose you leave your money for me to throw that party with. Since I bale hay we can smoke some grass and send up smoke signals for you. I think LS is already celebrating the way he's been writing stuff here.

ROSE said...

LOL ... Um .... it's gonna have to be a BYOB party, 'cause I don't plan on leaving anything behind!

Maybe Belt don't drink but he sures makes it up on being unfaithful to his wife. You can take that to the bank!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Sounds to me like you are jealous that he isn't cutting you in on the action.

Anonymous said...

If he drank he might have a personality.

Anonymous said...

i wonder did somebody threaten to cut off somebodys pay check. take that to the bank?????????????
i go to the bank the bank she be dry the bankers all begin to cry. BAIL ME OUT, BAIL ME OUT.

Anonymous said...

I like Belt. Him and Slack at least act like they have some sense and don't act like pricks when you talk to them.

I wish Slack would run for Sheriff. Poopy is leaving after this term and Slack would be a perfect Sheriff.

Anonymous said...

Well if Slack is going to run he needs to get up and do something he has gotten lazy thes past 4 o r5 years. i think he also has to come out from under civl service to run if it hasent changed since 1996. So you all think it's ok to cheat on your spouce. Good if it happens don't get mad

Anonymous said...

Poopy told any of his deputies if they ran they would be fired. Paxton is supposed to become sheriff and Poopy wants Mike King's job. I for one m going to write in Slack and hope others do too, its about time we shake up the hill, don't you think?

Anonymous said...

Paxton for Sheriff? Slack for Sheriff? Not in a million years would I vote for either one. Shake up the hill? Putting either one of these two cronies in the sheriffs office would be the same as voting Wayne King in as judge.(USELESS)

I think Clay County has different people out there somewhere that have not been addicted to the Cronies Clan.

ROSE said...

Yeah, whatever.

First Ed, then Farrah, then Michael ... now Billy Mays has died. Remember Billy Mays? The guy who didn't have an indoor voice? I wonder if he yelled that way all the time.

Good grief.

Anonymous said...

Billy Mays went to WVU. I don't think he finished, but he definitely was there for a while.

Anonymous said...

Only 50 yr old. Unbelevable.

Anonymous said...

Isn't it sad that Michael Jackson had to die for everybody to remember why he was so famous in the first place. He was a music genuis.

Anonymous said...

Michael Jackson was a child molester and should have been burned at the stake along time ago.

Anonymous said...

Your opinion only and never proven to be true.

Anonymous said...

Michael Jackson changed music and the industry no matter how you look at it. He made it possible for all musicans to make a stand and do their music, their way. I for one pray he didn't do what he was accused of doing, however if it was my child and they HAD been molseted, NO AMOUNT OF MONEY WOULD HAVE STOPPED ME FROM SEEING JUSTICE SERVED!!!! Can the one's who accused him of the crime say the same? Those in the spotlight are targets and like it or not, sometimes your life gets decided by others, record producers, attorneys, publishers, studios(how many stars were forced to hide their sexuality so they won't lose fans, Rock Hudson, Danny Kaye, Richard Chamberlin) and family members. I also wonder if his dad forced him to settle so that the abusive childhood Michael suffered would not become more public.
Michael Jackson did many great things for children, its hard for me to ever accept he would hurt one, but that is my opinion. However, my childhood would never have been as much fun, enjoyable, memorable and full of possiblities without Michael Jackson.
I hope he is at peace, and with God, Thank you Michael for sharing your gift with us.

did you see, i43 million lbs of sick cow meat recalled. 39 million lbs went to school lunch programs. wonder how many of these butchers got bonus's and now will likely get bail out money because of being caught putting sick cows into production via forklifts and pulling them onto the production lines with chains. bail me out, bail me out, UNCLE SAM bail me out. I'm your lodge brother, your fellow millionaire.

ROSE said...

Thank you, Anon @ 5:18, for being the only person on the planet who will admit to sharing my opinion. LOL I've never believed Michael Jackson was guilty of all the things he was accused of. He was, however, a gynormously rich target.

I don't really think every single talk show/news channel/video channel needs to still be rehashing every single minute of his life & speculating about how he died 4 days after the fact. This is going to go on for the next 4-8 weeks, until the toxicology reports are finished. None of it is going to make him any less dead.

See, this is why I've always capped my talents & just muddled through life instead of becoming a celebrity. >;P

Anonymous said...

Your still my little Super Star!

Anonymous said...

my tater bug, my mustard seed, don't see how anyone could like Michael Jackson.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Rose...I absolutely loved Michael Jackson. His passing is a horrible, sad loss. Records show that he contributed more money and projects to humanitarian causes than any other human being ever on earth. His talent will never be matched.

Anonymous said...

Rose is the Super Star, Dummy!

maybe Rose is looking for votes. not many darkies in Clay co. several "gays" and qu--rs, i hear.

So is judging someone based solely on what you read in the Enquirer. Unlike those you judge based on what you read in The Communicator. >;P

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. I wasn't there - were you?
What's known to be an absolute fact, though, is all the good he did for so many & the impact he made worldwide.

Ya know, Judgement Day's gonna be pretty busy for God. If He's recruiting helpers, He's certainly got a lot of experienced applicants.

ROSE said...

LOL Incidentally, if I was looking for votes, it wouldn't make a bit of difference to me what moniker you hung on those who'd vote for me. In fact, I'd even take votes from cranky old men .... BAHAHAHAHAHA LOL

ls said...

Hey Rose you got me all wrong. i'm kind and generous to those who get to know me. but most people form their opinion from gossip, Paul Bunyon was a piker. only took me a year to go through six federal prisons. not many people can say that. but they cheated me every step of the way. even turned me lose with an ID card with 15 cents still on it. we got 12 cents an hour for our work. got paid off with 12 dollars.

ROSE said...

LOL LS, I've heard great things about you ... !

Amid all the hoopla of Michael Jackson, did you know American troops are pulling out of Iraqi cities today?

Speaking of MJ, there's going to be a public viewing on Friday. Now, I'm not a forensic expert & I'm not a mortician & I realize he's mostly made of plastic & I realize money can buy a really good freezer & lots of heavy makeup, but good grief ... a public viewing a week after he died? They family's having a private ceremony on Saturday. Maybe they'll just send his body on a tour around the world so *everybody* can take a gander at him. He'd love that.

ROSE said...
