The air conditioning has been reestablished in the Cantrell home & I don't mind admitting - some of us were a little cranky without it.

Two months without a job & I'm still waiting to miss it. Funny how that works.

If you see Kelly Fulkerson today, tell him you heard it was his birthday & Rose hopes he has a good one!

Smokin Joe gets Ken Heckler to run to pull votes from his other Dimwitted oponent along with half the republican population in the state.
Be a cold day in a very hot place when I vote for him for anything again. I own up to my mistakes and he was the worst I have voted for so far.
Special legislation has bankrupted Wv and now our legislators have gotten used to making big bucks sitting on their butts and doing nothing because they know Joe will have them back three or four more times a year. He should be on trial next for manipulating Byrds senate seat just like Chicagos finest is right now.

No mansions in the white house is needed.

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut,
he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot
accept money from you , I'm doing community service this week.'
The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning,
there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop.

The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I can not accept money from you. I'm doing community
service this week.' The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.

The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

BOTH POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED... OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON.... Remember November !

good morning all; a new day, same people. will things be different. no, still dog eat dog. but some things are getting better and some worse. Indications are the recession will get worse. the rich will get poorer but the poor will get more affluent. we will have a different senator. is that good or bad? don't know, old one was wore out.

Anonymous said...

The next person is going to be just as bad when you generalize.
Do yourself some looking into what the candidates stand for, then vote for who you want.
Not who your party or someone you don't even know tells you.
I guarantee they don't have you best interests in mind.
Only their own.

I can agree as long as they are not incompetent incumbants like the ones we have in every government office now.

Anonymous said...

That's where we differ.
Incompetence is not something that only strikes incumbents.
That's like throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Choose based on what they believe.
That's like saying Arlene Tucker is going to be so much better than Fran.
Better at what?
So far none of the new people, JL and MP haven't done anything but raise taxes on us working stiffs and give tax breaks for the coal companies who have been raping us since they found a use for coal.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Dear President Obama:

I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.

We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S.

into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.

We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws.

I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I'm on my way over?

Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services

I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. Please print all Mexican government forms in English.

4. I want my grandkids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.

5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.

7. Please plan to feed my grandkids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.

9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico, but I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put U. S. flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.

13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.

14. I want to receive free food stamps.

15. Naturally, I'll expect free rent subsidies.

16. I'll need Income tax credits so that although I don't pay Mexican taxes, I'll receive money from the government.

17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican gov't pays $4,500 to help me buy a new car.

18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I'll get a monthly income in retirement.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that President Calderon won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

Don't you ever stop trying to spread fear abd hate?

Anonymous said...

Yeah anyhow!
WTF were you when Bush was president?
Oh yeah, that's right, you were one of those that said it was unamerican to critisize a president in a time of war.
I'll say what you were saying back then.
If you don't like it you can leave.
Please!

Anonymous said...

"Don't you ever stop trying to spread fear abd hate?"
The truth will set you free pilgrim.
Does the truth hurt so much?

Anonymous said...

The majority of the US Southwest was purchased from Spain more than 100 years before WV was ever even heard of. Several of those states were created to surround the Spanish/Mexican speaking people. Louisiana was created to surround the French speakers. Utah was created for the Mormons.

English is NOT the original language of the U.S. Your ancestors most likely did NOT speak English.

If you don't like it, go back to the country of YOUR origin.

Anonymous said...

What would Jesus do?

Anonymous said...

He already did it. He got the heck out of here.

Anonymous said...

Jesus wasn't a racist.

Anonymous said...

My ancestors were English. The original settlers were English. That is why we speak English here. You habla Englaise?

Anonymous said...

And he didn't spread fear abd hate either.

Anonymous said...

More lies.
The original settlers were Spanish, Nordic, Portugese, Dutch and English.
The Indians were here first.
Maybe we should speak Indian.
How Kemosabi?

Anonymous said...

What's fear and hate got to do with this? This is what's happening in this country. Broaden your horizons and get out of the protected environment of Clay county. See what's going on out there. The illegal aliens are getting more benefits than you are.

Anonymous said...

Just in case you didn't know it there is a difference between inhabitants and settlers.

Anonymous said...

Go to a foreign country and see how far you get speaking English.

Anonymous said...

"The original settlers were English."

Only on the east coast. Read up on your American history. When the English "settled" here there was no "United States". Native Americans were already here. What would become the West Coast belonged to Spain. What became the entire middle of the US belonged to the French.

ALL BEFORE THE ENGLISH EVER EVEN THOUGHT OF "SETTLING" HERE.

Once again your American ego is wrong wrong wrong.

Anonymous said...

Is that how you judge what language we should speak?
How narrowminded.

Anonymous said...

Ok, now you have a problem with Clay County.
Buddy, you need to crawl back to what ever rock you crawled out from underneath.
What a bunch of tripe.

I checked with my bona fide German friend (born & raised in Germany, live there still) & here's what he said when I asked about that particular phrase:

"Du bistu fericht"?? doesnt sound right. Could it be "Du bist echt fertig" = you are really finished = like: youre in bad shape ... so now I'm really lost. LOL

I'd have him teach me some of the choicer German words, but he's a preacher man .... teeheehee

Does anyone know if the Feds have actually come in to investigate Sheriff Holcomb or is it all AW BS?

some speculation would be that the people involved in the meth bust on Morgan Carr road would also likely be the persons involved in recent vandalism in that area Morgan Carr road is next dooe to Guy Mullins road. There has been a piece of property for sale lately at the end of Morgan Carr road. any connection. don't know. Astray from Roane co.!!!!!!!!!! wonder where they came from. where do thy sleep? who supports them?

Anonymous said...

Rose, there are many dialects of the German language. German, high German and Freisan as far as I know. I don't speak German but my ancestors are from there. The phrase probably comes from the Freisan Islands and I heard it means are you crazy? The spelling is probably wrong but the pastor did come pretty close.

Anonymous said...

Scottish/Irish/German/Cherokee

Did they get here before 1830's or after. Wv Bluebook says there were no Cherokee here between 1726 and 1840 due to a fight with the Shawnee at the burning springs at Malden in 1726. This was Shawnee hunting grounds and the Federal government could not beat the Cherokee and make them come to the Valley of no Return. They remained beyond the head of the New River until the removal began in 1840.
