I've been out of town in training all week & just saw this - so very sad.

Burley was one of my very first fans here & always always ALWAYS had something to say. Then he'd follow up with an email or 7. Then he'd follow that up with a few phone calls. I'm gonna miss ol' Burley.

Deepest condolences to his family. I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. He was definitely one of a kind.

Burly was a "character" to say the least. He was very creative when it came to law or the moose lodge as he came up with many ways to belittle the upholdings of that brotha hood. I met Burly when he was renting bar stools and giving away booze without a license to sell booze. Now tell me that don't take up some creativeness on anybodys part.

Burly was well known around the country for fighting the system as it seems many veterans after serving this country, and figure out on their own how crooked the system can be and especially the treatment of a government to the very veterans it vowed to protect and serve after their service to this country. Yes if you knew Burly you were sometime amazed at what he came up with next in a way to counter the system.

Nice to know the Ace Cub Reporter is off somewhere sleeping. Usually happens to those whe rely on Taxpayers dollars to support their business. Come on now CCC make sure he gets next years grant money.

You mean he gets paid for what he does?

Anonymous said...

What? Is AW trying for Jay Carpers job?

Anonymous said...

Waddell wouldn't take the job unless he could get a bunch of volunteer' to do the work for him.

Anonymous said...

That sounds about right.

Good morning, you little rays of sunshine!!

We all have an obligation to Burley to take up his slack here - y'all get right on that.

Did anybody feel the earthquake? We were at school & didn't feel a thing (the earth rarely moves at a school), but lots of parents called in & just about everybody who *wasn't* at school said they felt it!

The only thing I noticed was the lights blinked a couple of times. Didn't pay no mind to it because the electric goes off all the time around here.

Old farts just fade away.Hopefully down wind.

Old farts are more appreciated than new farts they don't smell as bad.

Thanks for the info!

I'm hoping Burley comes back & tells me all about The Other Side. I'm not sure how much to believe if he does, though - he could sure spin a tale!

RIP, Burley - you're truly missed.

Well Mrs. Rose, I went to Burley's burial today and the best thing that happened was I found out he got save. That will make some people happy knowing that and some just won't care. But I thought it was a good thing.

5 inches of rain on the way'
new sport this year, tubing down main st. Buy your permits at the Mayors office, he needs new tires for his motor home.

Anonymous said...

Well"I Said" if it hits Wv all at one time there will be no main street for Clayberry but you will definitely need a tube or tub of some sort to get around.

Give the new Mayor a chance to screw up before you start knocking him.

Anonymous said...

Ryan really ain't the Mayor, cause Joyce runs the show.

Anonymous said...

What show? It's a no show if they put all those improvement already approved off for another year. There won't be any money left in another year. You hear about closing the Postal Service all over the country?

The state road workers have to upgrade the drainage on main st. before the town can start the work on the side walks.
As slow as the state road people work,we will be luck to get started on new side walks in a year.

Our ace flub reporter mentioned that the project was cut off for a year. What he didn't say was the reason why. I guess it sounded more news worthy to leave that important fact out. Thanks for clearing that up.

Since the town of Clayberry isn't located on Triplett Ridge or Queen Shoals area don't look for the slow road crew doing any work anywhere else.

AW also failed to mention his new next door neighbor in down town Clay is non other than the upstanding citizen of the year, the one and only, Jonathan Sizemore.
Bet Wadell takes out extra theft insurance.

AW has the shortest memory span in the county when it comes to important things so maybe he will forget who Jonathan is until he takes the radio.

I said...

Hey Rose, I'm pushing the slow motion button but nothing happening.

Anonymous said...

Are you saying AW is intellectually challenged?

Anonymous said...

Aw is the smartest man between the Clay Co. branch bank and the Fairview Church. Hopkins don't count, he's across from the bank.
I'd say that's pretty intellectual.
At least he's well rounded.

Anonymous said...

Who says that AW? Clay is way bigger than that short stretch.

Anonymous said...

At least he thinks he's the smartest man on the block.
