LOL Only an extremely cool niece would think so! *Someone* was greatly missed - I so hope she's feeling much, much better soon.

We had such a great time! We never really do much, but man, oh, man, the sights you see at a rural county fair. SHEWEE!! LOL

Seems like AW's pretty fired up about this new guy in town. It does seem suspicious everybody's ready to run him out of town. You'd think at least one of our commissioners would befriend him just to be first in line to say "I told ya so!" when he fails ... or "Nanny nanny boo boo!" when he succeeds.

Then again, if you give up your current job for a fly-by-night, you're unemployed when it all goes south. If you give up your welfare/food stamps/clothing vouchers for a fly-by-night, you have to go through all that paperwork when it all goes south. Of course, if you're currently unemployed & have nothing to lose, you could be first in line when CNN comes to town to report on the raging success story.

They need to jack the jail up and drop ontop of Mr. Young, It seems that he is one of the Big Drug Suppliers in Clayberry and we sure could do without that kind of person. So jack it up and drop it on the dead beat, Oh I forgot to mention the others from murfer mountain put them with him before the jail gets dropped!

I am going on the record here. This man is someone to avoid at all cost.DHHR even knows about his problem with roaming hands. Ask Jerry Stover about how he took advantage of his kindness.

Anonymous said...

hey folks, not to worry about the fellow from Roane co. anyone with big idees like that will eventually get a bailout by and from people just likee him who are already in DC.

ROSE said...

LOL Anon, you can't "go on the record" without a name. As long as you're anonymous, you're just another nameless, faceless opinion in a sea of nameless, faceless opinions.

You'd think the guy was trying to talk people out of their life savings in return for immortality or something.

A healthy dose of skepticism is good; assuming the guy is the antichrist is just bizarre.

One does have to wonder, though, why he didn't start up his venture in his own hometown. Surely Roane County has buildings for sale.

From Interstate 77:
Take Tupper's Creek Exit (approx. 6 miles north of I-77 and I-79 interchange) to Rt. 21.
Go North on Rt. 21 approximately 1 mile to Sissonville High School
Turn left on Rt. 622 and go 4 miles.
Turn right across bridge and go 1- 1/2 miles to Camp.

Here are the directions to Kanawha county fair if the link won't work. WVMRA mud race Sept.12th.

The Gazette makes the new man in town look like a real bad man.?

Anonymous said...

I just read that story. He sounds like a real "sweetheart". For the people of Clay County, I hope this turns into the jobs promised. However, I am with the ones who are very leery of his offerings. I have never had to pay an employer to work.

ROSE said...

So ... who d'ya suppose tipped the Gazette about our Mr. Whitteker?

Anonymous said...

Probably the new commish
So it will make it look like he is doing something!

Anonymous said...

He'll have to try harder than that.

http://www.parentdish.com/2009/08/25/will-bloody-texting-psa-get-the-message-to-teens/

Have y'all seen this video?? EGADS! It's a PSA shown in Europe. Never America, of course, because we just don't have the cojones they do & we're oh, so sensitive. It is EXTREMELY graphic, but I think it should be incorporated into every driver's ed class in the country.

Anonymous said...

Rose have to disagree with you
Glad our commishes were on top of things with this guy, We do not need a child slapper or a swindler in this county we have enough of our own. Talked to eric eyre it was a roane county resident that called him. HE tried this in Roan and Calhoun Countied also.

Anonymous said...

I think the commissioners should caugh up a few hundred thousand and give the guy for making an effort to try to swindle a bunch of people. Just think if 250 people paid him the $144.00 processing fee, now that would certainly be a nice paycheck for raising such a stink in Clayberry not to count the $750,000.00 to buy that run down dump IGA building. Should have been torn down 40 years ago for a public hazard.

ROSE said...

Anon, I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with?? I'm sure the commissioners were on top of things, but based on what, exactly? Rumors? Innuendo? Yeah, the guy might very well turn out to be selling snake oil, but do you really believe any of our county leaders have "intincts" that're that good? Or character judgement? Honestly?

There are people who have never heard of Clay County, WV, who have searched the internet for property for sale, stumbled upon Clay County & bought a piece of land in our beautiful home town. I'd hate to think we'd treat them the same way we've historically treated "strangers."

Mr. Whitteker might very well be the antichrist. I don't know. But I'd venture to guess that if "somebody's" uncle/son/nephew/2nd cousin twice removed offered exactly the same non-business plan he offered, the reaction & response would have been much different.

Anonymous said...

Whittaker has ripped off people in Clay Before Henson and Judy legg for one. He appeared in court in front of Judge Alsop did a song and dance and then became violent and landed in the county jail. He is no stranger to the game.

ROSE said...

Alright, so he might be a bad man. Don't apply for his jobs. It's that simple.

Happy First Day of School!! I can't believe my babies are in 8th & 10th grades already. I musta blinked ...

Anonymous said...

As for a child slapper in Clay County, Wv or the entire nation might be a good thing. It sure didn't hurt the older ones around the country to get smacked once in awhile. You can read in the paper or see it on the news everyday what not smacking "slapping" the child has done for this country as a whole. A lot of non slapping has ended up as a waste of human air space, a permanent toll for the system whether it be on welfare, filling up the CRJ, or Mount Olive prison or even worse on the side of a mountain somewhere pushing up the grass. Yes we as no "slappers" have a lot to be proud of. And before you start yammering about how good it is and how good they have turned out, stand back and listen to them talk. Thing come out of their mouths I wouldn't hold in my hands. Yep I am so proud of them to.

Anonymous said...

Whitaker should have said his name was Peirson or King or Dawson or Sizemore. Then the commissioners would be throwing money and keys to the city at him.

Anonymous said...

Shoulda said his first name was Jack.

LOL I sincerely hope that last post isn't going to be the new secretary.

Day One of school seems to have been a success. I have a few questions for you school employees, though.

1) Surely to goodness you gym teachers don't expect us parents - who just blew the budget on school clothes - to run out & buy gym shorts & shoes by TOMORROW, do you? It's not going to happen.

2) Who's in charge of the software in our schools?? Surely to goodness it's not necessary for me to fill out 100 differnet pieces of paper with each kid's name, address, SSN, phone number, contact person, etc etc etc. SURELY TO GOODNESS it can be entered ONCE & then dumped into every stinkin form. I know lots of software with this capable & I know how to use it all. I'd be happy to train someone to do this.

New Communicator has the scoop on 34 days in the can

Anonymous said...

Wed Aug 26, 03:40:00 PM - If this person is going to help solve world problems, we are in definite trouble.

Anonymous said...

What happened to the communicator site(reported attack site)?

Anonymous said...

Ms Rose read down the page this morning about the happnings around Clayberry and it amazes me how fast every official jumped on the ban wagon to run the guy out of town. Not saying its not needed but I bet the CCC had a private backdoor meeting and found there was no way they could incorporate some kind of tax on the new business other then whats already on the phone companys intake. Not that they were protecting anyone who filed for a position but that they were going to be left out of the profit index if the business actually worked out.

We have become a society of "Leach" attitude in this country and have a slew of leaches standing around doing nothing but always wanting a piece of the pie and belly ache if its not given to them. What has happened to the old addage of working for what you get? Oh well guess I better get out to the post office and see if my welfare check or food stamps are in todays mail.

ROSE said...

Anon, that's exactly what I've been saying all along. Long before anybody had any reason to be leary of this guy, they were ready to string him up. I think Wed Aug 26, 07:45:00 AM is onto something. Obviously, if you want to suceed in Clay, you have to first quietly go around making other people think your ideas were theirs first. Then you have to make a few promises & grease a few palms. Then & only then should you make your plans known to the public & step aside so somebody else can gobble up all the credit.

That's why we're forever doomed to exactly what we have & nothing more.

Anonymous said...

THey could take your last two words and make it the slogan for Clay County Progress.

Anonymous said...

Or leave off your first two.
That might be even better.

why do we need 4000 apartments for 250 workers?

Anonymous said...

remember the Ivydale school deal where 50,000 simoleons disappeared. why give 750,000 for property when the asking price is only 600,000?

Anonymous said...

Just heard Jery Linkenogger and Mike Pearson applyed and got a big Stimulus grant for the school system to buy the IGA building and start a outdoor building class for the high school students. THey are going to teach students and dropouts hou to build buildings and lay the block to sit them on.

Anonymous said...

As for being the largest building in Clay County it surely isn't all that. Its a dump and everyone that has gone inside there knows its a dump.

The old Paul Murphy store building at Lizemore is much bigger, cost less and has acres of land to go with it. It is also in alot better condition . But the fact remains that if you want to start a rat race in Clayberry do it close to the courthouse. They trip over each other trying to figure out how much they stand to get for each other.

Anonymous said...

watch it burn

ROSE said...

Hmm. Interesting.

Ya know, I don't remember any of this controversy when Rite Aid built a new building right beside the courthouse. Or when Family Dollar moved in, even though we already had a Dollar General. What's the difference? Oh, yeah ... we didn't have a Mel Gibson look-alike then. Or internet.

Dumps can be cleaned up & refurbished. At least it's not going to be a grocery store with far too much taxidermy on display again.

Willie Nelson for President!

Anonymous said...

Mel Gibson look alike??? More like the Northbound end of a Southbound horse.

When they can't get there hands on the cookie jar around Clayberry or tell the person what to do then and only then is there going to be a stink about it.

Good morning, all you little rays of sunshine! Rain? Flooding?? Good grief - I must have slept through a monsoon!! LOL

Heard a few more rumors about our new businessman. He wants your financial information?? How much property do you own? How much money do you have in the bank??

I've heard of "employment fees" - in fact, I once applied for a job 100 years ago & when I was done, the guy asked for check for $125. If I had $125 at the time, I wouldn't have been applying for a $4/hr job.

If Mr. Whitteker is, indeed, asking for all that info from his applicants, you can rest assured they're not being called "applicants;" they're being called *investors* & when he loses his assets, so do all the "employees."

The CDC is predicting that up to 50% of Americans could be infected with the Swine Flu this winter. That's 1 out of every 2 people. That's 1/2 my household. Are y'all taking this seriously? I know people who are updating their Wills, just in case.

AW is slipping on keeping up with the news. Or is it that because most of the damage was in "no man's land" that he really could care less?

Anonymous said...

Travel south of Clay where the roads are all sprayed along to kill the brush and weeds growing. Cross the Hartland bridge where the roadwork ends. No weeds sprayed along Fola road, Upper Sycamore, Bob Reedy Fork, Grassy Fork, Greendale road or along Rt 16 all the way to the county line. Just a prime example of where the loyalties lay with Governmental agency in Clay County West Virginia.

The same holds true in all divisions of government as the people living there are lower then a snakes belly until they want your vote. Then and only then do you rank high enough to even be talked to face to face and not looked down on.

AW ranks right up there with the main leaches unless it is some type of gossip.

ROSE said...

I reckon I just live too far back in the redheaded step-child hills for even the crookedest of them to come looking for my vote .... Pfffft.

I used AVG for years and it let a virus in that ate the harddrive by one half. That is when I bought the program StopSign which has turned out ot outdo AVG, Nortons,Macaffe PCcilan and Guarddog that I had purchased prior.

LS if you go back on the AVG site, there is a free version you can use. You may have to check out a lot of the site to find it but its there. Most of the free scan you find online will find numerous viruses and you have to purchase it to clean the virus up.

As for the weed monkey, would that have been Charley Pride?

Next week the Kanawha county fair happens and the fastest mud trucks east of the Mississippi River are scheduled to run there on Saturday. A lot of Pro racers from other states are scheduled so it should be the best race this. Well worth the cost for the family so bring your camera and take lots of pictures. 90# on your telephone

I dialed '0', to check this out, asked the operator, who confirmed that this was correct
so please pass it on . .. . (l also checked out Snopes.com. This is true, and also applies to cell phones!)

PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW

I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service Technician (could also be Telus) who was conducting a test on the telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up. Luckily, I was suspicious and refused.

Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which enables them to place long distance calls billed to your home phone number.

I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many local jails/prisons DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE.

The GTE Security Department requested that I share this information with EVERYONE I KNOW.

After checking with Verizon they also said it was true, so do not dial 90# for anyone !!!!!

Both of my children are pretty certain where they stand politically, at the ripe old ages of 13 & 15. They're as opposite as night & day. It should be interesting to see what their takes are on Obama's speech.

Personally, I think Obama's speech is a good waste of classroom time. Our school kids aren't old enough to vote, they don't pay the taxes that fund their educations & there are a million higher priorities for their class time. No wonder our kids aren't winning the education race.

Since its supposed to help I think our BOE should buy Hand Sanitizer to place in the classrooms. Those entering the room would be required to use it before and after class. Anyone sneezing would also be required to use it during class. Might even require it on buses and bathrooms also.

Like everything else though that would cost money and may keep the kids a little safer while in school care. In the meantime buy some for your own kids to carry with them and learn them when and how to use it may be the trick to staying healthy this year. Over two thousand dead from the swine flu already.

If the schools would stop wasting so much stinkin $$ on paper to send worthless forms home, they'd have plenty of fundage for hand sanitizer & maybe even some bleach to clean those classrooms with. & maybe even some Lysol!!
