Queen Shoals PSD customers are the only ones in Clay County affected by the Fiasco SNAFU cause by Freedom Industries last Thursday morning. We waited at H.E. White all afternoon on Friday, waiting for a truckload of water that didn't come until Saturday morning around 8. Clay County's only bottled water distribution site was established at HEW, then moved late Sunday evening to TM Services, where it continues to be operational daily from 8-6. We've had 2 trailers delivered by FEMA, plus 3 trucks from Steve Davis's church in NC.

It bears noting that Mike Pierson & Morgan Triplett were there when the first cases of water were unloaded. Dave Walker showed up not long after & they stayed throughout the morning, helping to unload/load water. That's the last we've seen of any elected officials.

Y'all remember this come election time. Bomont is just one small area of this county, but we *are* part of this county & we *do* vote. Personally, I won't be helping to reelect anybody who didn't even bother to take the time to make an appearance during a State of Emergency.

Bomont is included in this fiasco too.

Is this water being given out bottled, or in bulk meaning you have to have a container?

Queen Shoals PSD is the only area affected by the Fiasco SNAFU - Bomont, Glen, Queen Shoals.

Bottled water is being given out by the case at TM Services (up from H.E. White Elementary). You don't have to have a container! You don't even have to have a good back - they'll load it for you! In fact, you don't even have to have a vehicle - if you can't get there to get your own water, arrangements can and will be made to get it to you! Just call the PSD at 304-548-4401 or you can call me - my home number is 548-7014, school is 548-7014.

Let me rephrase that - QSPSD is the only area in Clay County. Sorry.

LOL! Yeah, it's been a long few days. School is 304-548-7101. Contrary to how it feels sometimes, I do NOT live at school. LOL

Poor baby, you need someone to rub your neck?

Not to beat a dead horse but I have a neighbor who lives in Bomont near Glen who has city water served by QSPSD. So they should be included in any alerts.

I'm not sure what dead horse you're beating, but you're right - ALL QSPSD customers are affected. I don't know where "Bomont" ends & "Queen Shoals" begins or where "Glen" starts or where the end of the line is for "Camp Creek" & it becomes "Bomont," but everybody who gets a bill from QSPSD gets their water from WVAW.

Here's a link to WVAW's official map of who's "safe" & who's not.

http://aw.maps.arcgis.com/apps/OnePane/basicviewer/index.html?appid=a36ea42fbeec484d94e03dbe3eabe8a8

This map is WRONG. WRONG WRONG WRONG. H.E. White Elementary is located at 501 Bomont Road in Bomont - we're served by QSPSD. According to the map, we're out of the "danger zone" altogether. I've made several calls to WVAW & the Clay Co Health Dept & OES have both been made aware of this mistake & STILL, the map would lead one to believe that all is well in Bomont. IT IS NOT! If you call WVAW customer service, they'll tell you that Bomont IS in the affected area (though they didn't originally), yet their map ignores us altogether. The QSPSD line extends well beyond H.E. White.

IMHO Queen Shoals Public Service DISTRICT is a misnomer. A more realistic name would be Union Public Service District. Not as romantic as Queen Shoals but more applicable. Naming it after a local road/area doesn't apply to the existing service area which causes confusion.

Here's a question for Ms Rose.....
Yesterday Waddell said kids could come to school at HE white, but they could not bring well water.
Does everyone in the effected areas have to have their wells flushed too?

Anonymous said...

Yeah Wad dell says empty your well and let it fill up again with fresh water

Anonymous said...

I would say people along a river in the effected areas would have ground water contamination down stream from the spill.

ROSE said...

The policy does state that well water isn't to be brought in, but it was a nonissue for us - we distribute bottled water to each student/staff member each morning & there's a plentiful, steady supply.

As far as flushing wells ... it's my understanding that it isn't necessary, but realistically ... everything that's being flushed out of the water lines is either going into the sewer lines, the septic systems or the river, anyway, so ...

On channel 3 news page a map stating Queen Shoals area still in the red.

Anonymous said...

Yeah how about all the water from outside faucets being flushed out into the ground. Better no plant any gardens this season.

Looks like Rose ran out of make up.
