Continued ....

I was going to post on the Sunday hunting thing, but this one caught my attention. I'm easily distracted sometimes.

WV Senate Bill 114 - allows counties, with the approval of the city council in a given municipality, to adopt and apply a mandatory fee of up to five dollars on those convicted of felonies, misdemeanors or municipal ordinances to fund teen courts. Moreover, any mandatory fee established by a county commission or city council will be paid for by the defendant if he/she is found guilty of a felony or a misdemeanor committed in that county.

How much is Clay County making??

OR ... if you don't want to talk about that, how about this -

On September 12, Bob Seger releases his first studio album in 11 years. It's likely going to include a duet with Kid Rock.

WOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

GOOD MORNING!!

Good questions, Sherlock. I doubt there's going to be much money to mismanage in Clay, though - the keyword is CONVICTION.

How come I can burn the d*mn flag, but mutilating money is a felony?

So ... will a nay vote sway your decision in the next election? Would you vote for a nay'er?

Did Idaho really elect somebody named Crapo???

I see nobody's impressed with the Bob Seger/Kid Rock hook-up. I hope this is a universal thing - I'll be sitting on the front row all by myself!

Hey Rose! I'll go with ya and I'll even pay my own way.

LOL WOOOO HOOOOO!!!

Honestly, I know 2 things about Kid Rock - I like the song he sings with Sheryl Crow & I know a couple of people who'd dearly love to drag him home with them (& hopefully clean him up). teeheehee

Bob, though ... sing 'em loud, sing 'em proud. Make up the words you don't know.

Foe slams Byrd on flag vote

Senator proposes law to protect flag without limiting rights

By Tom Searls
Staff writer

Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Raese assailed U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd’s Tuesday vote against a constitutional amendment that would have prohibited desecration of the U.S. flag.

Raese, the GOP nominee for U.S. Senate, said he supports such an amendment, which failed by one vote in the Senate.

“Once again Sen. Byrd has sided with extreme liberals like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy instead of the people of West Virginia,” Raese said in prepared remarks.

Byrd proposed protecting the flag by enacting laws, not a constitutional amendment. He is co-sponsoring such a law written by Sen. Robert Bennett, R-Utah.

“In the final analysis, it is the Constitution that is the foundation and guarantor of the people’s liberties, protecting their rights to freedom of speech and to worship where they please,” Byrd told his Senate colleagues.

The 88-year-old senator said the flag is only the symbol of the Constitution.

“The Constitution, unlike the flag, is not a symbol; it is the thing itself,” Byrd said on the Senate floor.

“I think it might be well if, in addition to focusing on efforts to protect the flag against injury, injury that, although reprehensible does not damage constitutional principles, we make a greater commitment to learning the historical context of our flag as well as the actual text and meaning of the United States Constitution.”

Raese was joined in his criticism of the state’s senior senator by the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which issued a news release saying Byrd was the deciding senator in the 66-34 vote. Constitutional amendments need a two-thirds majority, or 67 votes in the 100-member Senate, for approval.

“By siding with the far left and casting the deciding vote against prohibiting the desecration of our flag, Sen. Byrd has again positioned himself way outside of West Virginia’s mainstream values,” Dan Ronayne, NRSC spokesman, said in a news release.

Bennett, Republican Sens. Mitch McConnell of neighboring Kentucky and Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island also voted against the proposal. The NRSC news release did not mention their votes.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., voted in favor of the amendment.

TCP, you'd be one of the "few people I know who'd dearly love to drag him home." See? I knew if I talked about you, you'd hear about it. LMAO

I think, if we plan well enough, we could get them both to Clay County before their "people" knew what hit them.

That's assuming, of course, that we didn't get a police escort back to Clay County before either of them ever even hit the stage.

BAHAHAHAHAHA

Yet he continuously gets elected. Apparently, we like being treated like mentally challenged children.

He should be enjoying his Twilight Years. Fishing. Reading. Taking it easy.

Obviously, he feels an obligation to us. We owe it to him to vote him out of office for his own good.

Congress may debate your right to burn the American flag in protest, but for many veterans like me it's a no-brainer. Burn Old Glory anywhere near me and stand by for a good old-fashioned whuppin'.

lmao

that last comment about the whuppin. few years ago i was ateending a ceremony at an american legion lodge. the ceremony was a flag retiring ritual that involved ceremoniously burning a flag and packaging the ashes for burial.

i young marine vet fresh out of the corp was driving by and saw it. he stopped and came back and was madder than a wet hen. after a few minute disruption he settled down enough to realize what was going on and respectfully joined in and proper respect.

Ms Rose I have not had any use for Robert C since he made the argument about the clock up in the national forest at the tune of 7 million dollars. After all it only loses 1 billionth a second each year. Hardly worth the bears knowing what time it is let alone the wasting of 7 million tax dollars. Wouldn't vote for him if a rabid dog was running against him, the dog gets my vote.

Lets say there is a law against flag burning.
What kind of flag? Would it be illegal to burn a poster of a flag? How about a tee shirt with a flag on it? HOw about those little table decoration flags made out of plastic?
What would be legal to burn and what not legal? Sounds like a slippery slope
Someone let me know please

Flag Etiquette This is a good site for questions like that.

In reality, it's disrespectful to put the image of our flag on just about anything. I'd end up in jail several times over - I've got shirts, lighters, earrings, etc. etc. etc.

People don't seem to pay much attention to laws around here, anyway. The Constitution is already too "slippery" sometimes.

Maybe the people who burn the flag should be first in line to replace the soldiers in Iran & Iraq & God knows where when they're ready to come the h*ll home.

Hey y’all how are all you fine WV people? I just learned about this little blog thing and thought I would see what it is all about. I have never heard of such a thing, but thought it might be interesting to see what other folks thought about things.

I was through your state a few years ago and thought it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. The trees and the flowers were beautiful and there were so many of them. But the thing that impressed me the most was the friendly people. It was amazing how everybody I met made me feel welcome. Someday I hope to get back there for a visit.

I can't comment on the original post seeing as how I don't know anything about your state or your counties.

Y’all have a good day ya hear and smile, God loves you!
