HAPPY FALL!

In the wee hours between tonight & tomorrow morning, Summer ends and Fall begins. Days get shorter, moons get brighter, men disappear. Yards fill up with pumpkins and hay bales, sweater season comes back & everybody's favorite - the ladybugs take over.
Best of all, though, it's the return of hearty eating. Soup ... stew ... chili ...

The term "Happy Fall" is a contradiction. LOL This season, the season of withering away, has always been quite depressing to me. It's the time of year when I tend to start storing things up so that I can go into hibernation/hermit mode until Spring breaks. ;)

The hearty meals, getting to drag out my favorite jackets and boots, Halloween and the pretty changes in the scenery are all highlights of the season, though.

To whom did Judge Alsop grant a temporary injuction to cancel the yard sale at the home of Vivian and Kenny Knotts? And why was there an injunction in the first place?

Anonymous said...

Ask Mike Asbury monday morning.

Rosie,
soup, chili etc are all good, but you forgot what the Samples clan is noted for Chicken Dumplins, a big pot of brown beans and cornbread. Of course it dosen't have to fall to cook these. Just look at all our nice figures lol.

To Anon at 6:05: What is so secretive about the injunction? How can I ask Mike Asbury when I don't live there? Can someone please tell all?????

Lies an deception, a bad way to start the first day of fall.

Anonymous said...

Like I said before "round" is a figure>>>>>0 Still holds true.
Ms Rose you should have said the women dissappear to Wally World, K-Mart and any other store that has a door they can get into. Money dissappears from bank accounts, credit cards are over run, Lay A Way booms and when January rolls around the "s**t hits the fan" to say the least.

ROSE said...

Did somebody say CHICKEN & DUMPLINS? WOOOO HOOOO!! I hope that's an offer ... teeheehee

Anon, your perception is way off. "Round" is a shape. *Voluptuous* is a figure. There's a world of difference.

How'd I miss the lies & deception? Who got decepted?

wonder what happened to all those people from NICHOLAS co. that were put in CRJ.
seems all ANDY can think of anymore is trees and benches. we need "MIKIE" back to wake him up.
all these expenses building CLAY co. up for tourism and we're heading into a major recession. i dunno. don't sound good to me.

Anyone happen to know of any job openings around the county or anywhere nearby? I am need of employment at the moment and, so far, have had no luck with the applications I've already submitted. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask...thought maybe someone who stops in here may be able to point me in the right direction. It would be much appreciated.

Not trying to be a smart butt, but turn on the TY , They are talking about the goverment needing thousands an thousands of people in the military, we don't have enough troops to fight Bushs DAM war and it pays good now days.

SmileyTD said...

I could turn on the TV, but it wouldn't do much good. I haven't had TV programming in nearly 3 years. LOL

Anyway...that is a good suggestion, but I'm not sure I'd qualify for the military. I'm a single Mom with a 5 year old and an 11 year old. To my understanding, the Department of Defense generally prohibits enlistment of single parents, with the exception of the Army National Guard. Even with the Army National Guard, I'd have to receive a waiver from the State Adjutant General.

Eventually, I'm going to go back to college for a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Right now, I just need some kind of income...preferrably a job close to home, so that I can be as much a part of my kids' lives as possible.

Thank you for the suggestion, though. I do appreciate it.

Krogers has a sign on their door. What sort of work are you looking for?

SmileyTD said...

Well, I'm not in a position to be too picky right now. I just need a job. LOL I'm going to Braxton County tomorrow to check on a lead that I was given today, for a job in a family owned restaurant.

Only problem I have is that I can't work any midnight shifts anywhere. Evening shifts would be a booger right now (because it's very difficult to get a sitter after 6), but I'm sure that I could find a solution for that if could just find the work.

Hey Smiley, did you put an app. up at the nursing home at otter? And your purty handy on one of these things, Bruce might need some store help up to Cunningham Motors in Ivydale.

Anonymous said...

The Times Record in Spencer got a couple of good deals for you, TD

SmileyTD said...

No, I didn't put in an application at the nursing home. I will do that while I'm up that direction tomorrow morning. (Can't hurt, right?!) Thank you.

SmileyTD said...

Thank you for Times Record lead, anon. (Got sidetracked on posting my last comment and missed your's until now. LOL)

SmileyTD said...

Put in a few more applications. Don't know anything yet, of course. It's one of those "hurry up and wait" deals, ya' know? Thank you for asking, though. :)

smiley/TD; go-mart nearly always has a help wanted sign out. a job till you find something better. seems some of the girls have been there for years.

SmileyTD said...

I actually worked at Go-Mart for three years. Stopped in there several times lately asking about a job, but they don't need anybody right now. My friends there said they'd let me know if there were any positions that opened up. Thank you for the suggestion, though!
