Seventy-two years ago,
me & Jesse was born.
my blue suede's mildewed,
my gold lam-ay's torn.

my polyester jumpsuit's
fulla holes.
my love me is tender,
time's took its toll.

I was cryin' in the chapel
when Old Shep passed on,
my eyesight's shot,
my pompadour's gone.

takin' care o' business
now takes all my might,
but don't cry daddy,
I ain't lonesome tonight.

my hound dog's deaf,
the teddy bear's moldy.
life ain't easy
as a golden oldie.

doc says fried bananas
is bad for my heart,
but that's all right, mama,
'cause they just make me fart.

my good luck charm's
a medical ID.
but suspicious minds
no longer blame me.

the colonel started
them rumors I died.
that man wasn't nuthin'
but the devil in disguise

if I'm gonna make a comeback,
it's now or never,
but I know a hard headed woman
that'll love me forever.

Hello, Rose. While at a show in Charleston a few months ago (at the Blue Parrot), I found myself drawn to the airbrushed items around the place. This was one of many that caught my attention. Since this thread's about Elvis and his birthday, I figured I'd share. LOL

ROSE said...

YIKES! That's ... uh ... interesting, Smiley. LOL Black velvet's one thing, but ... uh ... LOL

SmileyTD said...

hahaha...Yeah, it is definitely odd. Thought it might get a laugh (or at least one of those WTF looks). Mission accomplished. LOL

Hey Smiley, you better go get that job at the court house, tell Connie I recommeded you.

I went and got an application earlier today. Thank ya'.

I don't believe that Smileytd: want's a job, she is always on the blog's. Hit the street child, stop asking people to help you find a job.

Anonymous said...

Nothing wrong with asking for help. Around here it's not what ya know, it's who ya know.

That isn't to say you don't know anything Smiley. Just trying to make a point.

SmileyTD said...

To the anon at 7:26, if you would care to take a look, I've only asked for "help" once in all of the time that I've been posting on these blogs (since November of 2005). It wasn't help in finding a job that I was asking for, only if anyone knew of any available positions. Not that it matters, but I wanted to clarify.

That was over three months ago, anyway. I have been working since then. (For the record, the job at which I've been employed was one that someone here suggested.) Perhaps your discontent would be better spent on a cause which is worthy of such.

Anon at 9:08, it's ok. I knew what ya' meant. ;)

ROSE said...

At least she asked for help & not a spot in the gimme-gimme-gimme line.

Smiley, that one wasn't even worthy of a response.

Caymomma, did you run over him like you did those poor innocent crabs?? BAHAHAHAHA LOL

Dang, someone is PMS, why do you care if smileytd, ask if any one knew where there were a job? If I lived there and needed a job I would do the same thing, Gas is high and there is lots of mile to travel.

(Rhyming was completely unintentional.)

ROSE said...

Ya know, I've given this some thought & I think the Slop & Flop could employ several of us bloggers.

MP could supply the gift shop, since she knows where to find all those ... uh ... toys.

Southern Boy could run the gift shop, since he's so ... persuasive.

Smiley could be the greeter & the hostess with the mostest.

Little Black Santa could tend bar.

Crazy Cat could be the announcer.

WVChic could wait tables & refill glasses (everybody wants to pinch her hiney, anyway. She'd just as well get paid for it).

AW could run big, huge ads in his centerfold.

The Baboons could take up their spoons & hubcaps & pretend they're a band.

SirHenry & Sherlock could be bouncers.

Caymomma could supply live exotic marine life to liven up the decor.

I could sling hash.

and of course, CB could be the star dancer. I've seen CB dance. Believe me, it's worth seeing at any cost.

Who'd I miss??

Anonymous said...

Lil black santa should have been walking the streets of Akron back then so he could have been bopped with a mop handle with all but the ball cut off the end. Sure made for short work on some hard heads at 40 MPH.

to the ANON that posted on Mon Jan 15, 06:30:10 PM

if you look up the history of the KKK you will see that the original KKK was disbanded in the late 1800s. It was a small group of ex confederate soldiers in tennessee that got tired of the treatment from the union government after the war, so they formed a social club to seek better treatment. The group started having social events and slowly they started tormenting the local areas. The ex soldiers started killings. not only blacks but ALSO WHITES that they felt didnt give them fair treatment. it eventually grew into missourri and the government had to take a stand or possibly face another civil war. During the fight to end the KKK it spread like wildfire all across the south. KKK was widely supported across the south by the DEMOCRATS and the KKK grew to a small size army . The battles in missouri with the regular army were brutal. thousands died. Mostly white men from both sides.

they had purpose, but they went about it the wrong way. they were seeking better treatment of the ex soldiers.

After the disband the KKK resurfaced several years later in small localized groups with focus on racism, bigotry, and hate. Most people that proclaim KKK will claim to be pro white, but are ignorant to the fact that you guys have killed thousands of white people. Most of them not for supporting blacks. But for supporting or Union Government, Which we still stand under.

So your organization can be one of the most unpatriotic, anti-government group going. so if someone should be hung. between a black man that will fight for our freedoms or a bigot antigovernment KKK. It should be you for sure.

Anonymous said...

Hey Rose! Now I know why you like chicken so well. sg

Anonymous said...

Klu Klux Klan. Anybody game for starting a chapter in Clay? think we are going to need one.

Anonymous said...

There a KKK already here and no they are not the goat sexers club on the corner across from the bank. Since back in the 60's and the FBI put a bunch of undercover agents out into local KKK groups it is a bit hard to become a member.

So your organization can be one of the most unpatriotic, anti-government group going. so if someone should be hung. between a black man that will fight for our freedoms or a bigot antigovernment KKK.

If you would have served in the VN war and was discriminated against by the government you would not have a point of veiw such as this. When it all comes down to the final moment you don't care what color of skin the guy has that pulls you from the battlefield but you never forget what GOVERNMENT it was that discriminated against the WHITE MAN during that stinking war or after you returned home to a jobless country if your skin was WHITISH in color. Final point::: just because you read an article somewhere that the KKK was eliminated in the 1800's, keep your head in the sand with your A** sticking up maybe you can be rewarded with a burning cross.

you sorta misread my whole post or just chose to read parts of it!!!

i didnt read an article, i helped do a study on the kkk. it started as anti government and is still today along with its rasicm. i did say the original kkk was disbanded in the 1800s but went on to say it resurfaced as a hate group later.

further more i am a veteran and i know that the black men beside me is way more valuable than any antigovernment kkk. thats why i posted what i said. if you read the whole paragraph that you copied it insinuates that the kkk be hung before a patriotic black man.

you talk about discrimination toward veterans by the government. well look at the antigovernment(whic KKK is) war protesters. if you support the kkk and you are a veteran i strongly suggest you grab a book and read or start searching the web. you might be surprized with what you find.

their is a college course offered at wV state that covers us history from the civil war to present.

HISTORY 208-History of US from 1865 to Present.

i think you misinterpreted my view.

its plain. I am against the KKK. they are unpatriotic and stand for everything our nation is against.

Could someone tell me where the School Excess Levy dollars go? What are they used for?

Anonymous said...

you should ask where the levy money is supposed to go. it hardly ever goes where it's supposed to go. there's always well we need it over here. and then there's the expenditures that are unaccounted for. and then there's the problem of getting any accounting at all. as i was told at the sheriffs office one time, we can't let you see the bank balances.

This reads as thought the levy $$ goes to AW's fat arse. Maybe that's not fat. Maybe it's a savings account.

If we never, ever, ever pass another levy in this county, what would realistically happen?

What does the levy pay for? Where's the spreadsheet budget that shows me the line item bottom line?

How much is this levy? Will it eliminate the over-priced cheesy fund-raiser stuff? Where has previous levy $$ gone?

Hmmm. So many good questions; so few answers.

Anyone? Anyone??

Ted Dixon, president of the Fayette County Education Association, says his members “have no problem with doing drug tests if there is a reasonable suspicion that person is abusing drugs. But we do oppose testing of all employees. It’s a waste of resources that could be better used somewhere else.”

Anywhere you work except the BOE with X amount of employees does drug testing happen. Do they just target a select few to test? NO all employees are tested periodically and on occassion you even have one show up with illegal drugs or booze in their system. Without a Dr. perscription for the drug in your system you are disciplined and depending on the drug use you are FIRED. Not via the Donald either.
Anyone that is around children should undergo drug testing, janitors, cooks, bus drivers, teachers and most of all PRINCIPAL's. Hydrocodone and oxy contin are the street drug of choice and should be included on the list of no no's.
I for one say test them all and if the test is positive defer the cost back to the employee and deduct it from their pay therefore putting the cost where it should be in the first place but I will never live to see drug testing for the school system let alone see them have to pay for it. For the kicker now, lets start testing welfare recipents also and if illegal drugs are found kick them off the system also. KKK all the way is how I see it Ms Rose also. Pop their neck like a pretzel or ole whats his name they hung with Saddam.
