SNOW DAY!!

According to my 7th grader, he hasn't had a SNOW DAY! since about the 4th grade ...

WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!
Bring on the trash bags, car hoods & refrigerator doors!

Sounds as though you are going sleigh riding. I only have somewhere near 7 inches of snow on the ground today.
Too cold out there for me today.

Rose, you know I can't resist doing that. I hate that crap. Cold, bad roads, cold, sloppy, slushy, cold and its cold. Ya'll can have it.

Oh Caymomma, Rose won't touch a Margarita. I even have tequila ready and waiting and she won't touch the stuff! It's such a sad thing. They're such tasty and beauteous beverages. I say a salt moustache beats a milk moustache anyday!

Viva la Jose!! (or something)

Caymomma, it's what I've come to expect from you. LOL It's almost 0 degrees now & warming up quite nicely. Well, it was, until the sun went down & turned everything to ice again.

Ya'll know how well I can multi-task. Hot chocolate's not that far from a margarita, ya know - just add a shot of Baileys, a spash of coffee, a mountain of whipped cream & a few chocolate sprinkles. The more I drink, the more "lady" I become.

AW is reporting that Wagner gas customers are without gas service and have been all week.
How sad but more importantly, how serious for senior citizens of that area

Anonymous said...

Is it cold on Uranus?

ROSE said...

Something definitely needs to be done about Wagner Gas. However, the saddest part of AW's report is "WV PSC reps encouraged customers to file a complaint with the regulatory agency. Most didn't."

If you know a senior citizen who's reluctant to "rock the boat" by filing a complaint, FILE ONE FOR THEM.

The more aware the PSC is of the problem, the more complaints they receive, the more they'll be forced to do something about it.

Call the delegates, call the senators, call the governor's office, DO SOMETHING.

& quit letting AW fight all your battles for you.

Anonymous said...

AWs statements are questionable at times. my gas was never off last night. i am with valley gas. however it must have been off briefly nigh before last because the fire under my hot water heater went out. still not lit.

Anonymous said...

Its electricity that comes back on.
Not gas.
You have to relight it yourself.

Anonymous said...

yes i must go under the house and relight the pilot light. have solved the problem of lighting the the pilot very nicely. just pour about 1/4 inch of gasoline in a vienna sausage can light it and push it under the heater. the gas flares up and lights the pilot. no muss no fuss. its getting to the heater thats the problem. a teakettle will also serve temporarily.

Anonymous said...

the latest craze in drugs,"yaba" check, www.freemyaddiction.com. it's coming. or insert "yaba" in your search bar.

Anonymous said...

ls you say Andy's comment is questionable, but he didnt say all their customers were without. He said many.

so your gas might have been uninterupted. If your gas did go out you probably would have to reset your pressure regulator near the meter. even after the pressure comes back you would be without gas until the regulator was reset. so you would know if you were out.

Anonymous said...

with all due respect and i would be grateful for the info had i need of it. i've done this many times and so know exactly what's needed. what is needed at present is more global warming. until then i'll just tough it out. i've also found that a nice hot cup of coffee tucked in close to a vital spot tween your legs helps much. that is ifd you have nothing else available.

ROSE said...

If your pilot light goes out because the gas pressure is too low, then the pressure builds back up, does that mean gas is leaking into your house, waiting to kill you? Or does the gas magically know that there's no fire & waits until there is? Do the fumes "pool" there around the pilot light?

That kinda sounds like an explosion waiting to happen.

It also sounds like a severe potential carbon monoxide issue.

Given the financial woes of the various gas companies, I doubt there's going to be much benefit to suing anybody.

Y'all need to be filing some serious complaints somewhere, regardless.

Anonymous said...

hey you got it all wrong Rose. there is an automatic cutoff on the water heater. if the gas goes off, you must turn it back on by depressing a button on the tank controls which then furnishes gas to the pilot light. however you must apply heat for approximately 30 sec. before the ,forgot the name of the unit, will stay open and the pilot light will stay lit. no gas build up.

Yaba, the Thai word for "crazy medicine," is a tablet form of methamphetamine, a powerful stimulant. These synthetically produced pills contain 25 to 35 mg of methamphetamine and 45 to 65 mg of caffeine. Tablets are available in a variety of flavors (including grape, orange, and vanilla) and colors (most commonly reddish-orange or green). Various logos (commonly "WY" or "R") adorn yaba tablets, which are the size of the end of a drinking straw. Yaba looks and tastes so much like candy that many young users (often including ecstasy users) underestimate its harmfulness1. Methamphetamine is also available in powder ("crystal") form, which can be processed into a rock ("ice") or liquid form.

Hey, look!! I just got my email notification from the WV Dept. of Ed that Clay County schools are on a 2-hour delay! Talk about timing ...

Anonymous said...

the school levy??

talking about bullying... ole man larry gillespie came to a saturday league basketball meeting over the weekend and gave out some figures.

said that for the little ones to use utilities at the schools for practice and games on saturday at the high school. then overtime for a janitor to be on duty for the saturday games(its law that one is there)

His figure came up to about a 1000 a week. I think he figured the utilities for the entire day instead of the short time being used by the teams and he didnt consider that the heat had to be on even if the kids wasnt using the space.

Bottom line is he said that if the levy didn't pass. the little league basketball would have to help with some of the expenses to keep the kids using school property.

1000 dollars a week by his figure

10,000 for the 10 week season

that's gotta be a desperation tactic.

Anonymous said...

not having been in school for many years, i assume little league is not a school program. why is football and basketball a school program and little league is not. who decides what is a school program and what isn't. does the public have any say in this or is it "dictated" by some servant of the public who thinks they are the superior one. or is that super one.

Anonymous said...

The new levy was going to pay for a couple rooms or buildings to be built at a couple different schools at a cost of app. 100k for both of them.

Just to prove a point here: In Clayberry every time a upgrade is done on one of the elementary school buildings within a year it is closed. For instance Brown Elementary got $500,000.00 upgrade and the next year the doors were chained and no more school there. How much has been spent on Vally Fork and Ivydale in the past couple of years? Chains are being cut for the doors there now.
Which cronie needs a new building for a little to nothing cost in these communities? Brown Elementary sold for a mere $50,000.00 within a year of the half million upgrade.
So to the school buildings thats to get a new room, your doors are doomed to be chained also.

VOTE NO to higher taxes Feb. 24,2007 Vote NO NO NO NO NO more wasting of tax money.

What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday it was 1 degree here with ice on the roads all over the county even after a two hour delay school was held. Couldn't wait to get the kids out on the slick roads to prove how tuff Clayonians actually are. No concern for your kids safety!!!!
Today again at one degree and the roads dry with icy spots only and the schools are closed. Oh what a difference.
Guess the gas wells are frozen off and they have no heat now but a good excuse to close some will say. Yesterday was a prime example to leave the kids at home with our winding roads and steep hills but like Kibbles and Bits..... gotta have it, school that is.

ROSE said...

Between the current temperature & the forecast, I'm not sure I'd send my kids to school anyway.

Do kids still have to walk out of hollers & such or are there contract buses to pick them up now?

Oh, i feel so sorry for these poor welfare people. just think HUD pays their rent anmo they get a 20% reduction in utilities because they're to lazy to work and are on medicaid. and then there's their welfare check. and then the poor little darlings must be paid if they walk a few yards to catch a warm vehicle to carry them to school.

I wonder why i was thinking of ammo back up there. gotta be careful that might be taken as an implied threat.

if it offends you that these people get those benefits dont belittle them , some actually need or deserve it(could be a hard working parent trying to make ends meet). instead take it out on your law makers. they are the ones that pass the legislation to say who gets what. If someone is getting something you dont think they are eligible report them. the welfare system has a fraud abuse team that investigates all claims of fraud.

Anonymous said...

didn't say anyone wasn't eligble. said i envy them. the people who are eligible for everything lotta times it's because of who you are.

i served the country and am eligible for nothing because i don't kiss any a**. and don't lie about what i do have.

don't look to me for patriotism i do feel for the service men who are in the service knowing they are only being used by the rich to get richer.

ROSE said...

YIKES!

The welfare system in this country should be very simple: If you've contributed to it (via taxes), you should be allowed to reap the benefits should you ever need them. If you've never contributed in any way (ie, you're a lazy deadbeat), then you should be SOL. You get back what you've paid in. Period.

Of course, that would mean the majority of our senior citizens would qualify. AS WELL THEY SHOULD. Our elderly population got us all to where we are today & it's THEIR tax contributions that are being sucked dry now. Once all the deadbeats are through sucking, there won't be anything left by the time I'm a senior citizen.

Furthermore, if you're a veteran of any branch of the U.S. military & you were honorably discharged after serving your tour, I don't care if you rake in a million dollars a day, your medical benefits should be FREE. You shouldn't have to drive 1/2 a day to a VA hospital, only to be told you don't qualify for benefits because your income is too high. You helped pay the cost of freedom; the least we owe you is a cholesterol pill now & then.

Looks like cabin fever is affecting us all ...

I am a veteran and the system sucks especially for the Viet Nam vet. I went to the VA hopital about four years ago and saw some generic quack for about ten minutes or so. Renewed a couple prescriptions and came back home the same day.
Four days later I received a bill from the VA for $277.00 for that little visit. I called the administrative office to see what the deal was and was told our fine Congress had passed an out of pocket expense that was to be passed on to the Viet Nam veterans and I told them I had a UMWA medical card also but was told it was out of pocket and no insurances were accepted. I told the lady on the phone to notify me if they needed anyone to volunteer to help board up the VA hospital at Beckley because that would be the only way I would be back. I can see a dr. anywhere for $5.00 and why would I drive for two hours to get to pay that kind of money to some quack just getting off a boat. Just one example of repayment for services rendered to the USA. I just wonder what Robert C. or Jay Rockefeller have to pay to see a dr since they have no military back ground.

Its a good thing I don't own the gas up Ivydale way I would turn the wells off and have them capped. Let them have an electric month or two and see how it is then.
Put in a wood stove people and depend on yourself for a change. Lots of people in the county don't have gas or have to depend on somebody else all the time.
We have become a dependant society and are too lazy to take care of ourselves. Thank You Welfare System for taking away our survival skills.

Anonymous said...

Gas is a utility just like electric and water. I have a brand new furnace in my house that takes gas to heat the house. Just because I have a utility from a worthless utility company owner doesn't make me lazy or dependent so shut your fat trap you loud mouth idiot.

Anonymous said...

yea i agree.

Fri Feb 09, 07:58:09 AM you are a big idiot!!!

if you sign up for gas and pay that monthly bill to a utility company you should expect service. thats not being a dependant society thats reality and the wlefare system has nothing to do with it. we are a poor county and many cant afford 2 forms of heat. and how many people do you know who owns a tract of timber in downtown ivydale to cut as fire wood?? Or trucks to go elsewhere and haul it? It requires cost that alot of the area people cant afford!!

If you will start donating the wood for all those people maybe we can work togethor on a fundraiser for some of the poor people to get wood burning stoves. I have been pricing them for my outbuilding and at pile hardware the one i want is only 1200 dollars.

You mention electricity for a month. Do you heat with electricity?? What if our county went to rolling blackouts and you were without heat? I'm sure you would burn wood. But your power in the house. Should i tell you to quit whining and go to gas or wood to fuel up a generator? Or would you be on the phone with the power company telling them how it goes. Of course you would be, because you wouldn't be getting a service you a paying for.

What if just your internet went out?? Something you pay for and the service was inadequate. would you call and complain?? I would. I expect everyone that i do business with to deliver all service as agreed upon.

As a utility provider they have the responsibility like anyone else that sells a product and that is to deliver that product as agreed. Part of delivering it is upkeep and maintenance of the system. I don't even live in the effected area, but i believe the state should take over and use all profits coming in to repair the system. with the big increase there has to be a good profit margin.

Anonymous said...

A big "I herd dat!" to all of the above.

I had some friends from Gauley Bridge who used to use "Clay County" the way we use "Sissonville" to describe tacky, hick, redneck, poor quality, etc.

I think Clay County is becoming a victim to its own way of life.

Substandard, ineffective utility service being one of the first on the list of problems.

If AW's account of pvc drain line being used for mainline material, then it is waay past the point of needing to be brought into the 21st century.
Just another example of choosing the path of least resistance to fix temporarily the problems that permenently or repeatedly plague our mountain paradise.

Anonymous said...

CRY CRY CRY Thats to dependancy I was talking about. And always asking for a handout instead of providing for yourselves. Habjan is right up there among the finest of the gas providers and is the cheapest there is around. Call in Columbia and the listen to the whiners and gripers as to how much gas is costing then.
Not my fault you want a $1200.00 stove to heat with when you can buy one for half that or less or get the add bullentin and get one for $150.00
Save up and buy the fancy one as you wasted money on a new furnace knowing Habjan's gas would go off the first time it got down to freezing.
Yep I got gas and wood and also electric heat at my little shack and I also own a generator to run it all when the electric goes off or the gas goes down to no pressure at all. My computer service is about as worthless as any around in the country and theres not a thing I can do about it because the company knows that its all there is and no other options will work here. Just like the gas you get one shot at a time and if you don't like it then try doing without. Computers may be the modern mode of travel but I lived without it for a lot longer then I have with it. Heres you some cheese to go with that WHINEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
I think Wagner Gas and the others that are supplying gas to Clayberry should go before the county commissioners and ask for a grant to update their lines. After all they are willing to help out and get things done.

Anonymous said...

You should have signed your name to that.

Anonymous said...

I can't sign my name because I am on welfare and getting food stamps and all the other free stuff I can get off the county. How do you think I could afford all the different types of heat systems. Surely not working to get them.

loud mouth idiot.

Anonymous said...

HOOOOWEEEE I think there is an IDIOT among us!!!! stupidity abounds!!!!

Anonymous said...

why should our tax dollars cover a grant for wagner to fix their lines??

it's a private utility that falls under the wv psc. the management and owners should cut into their own take before my taxes help them make profit.

you must be the owner or a big dog with wagner or you wouldn't be so up tight and defensive. Then again you might be just a big A%&hole that doesnt care about your nieghbors.

even if everyone finds one in the add bulletin cheap are you going to help fund the wood stoves?? still will be alot of money.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

I can make it whistle when I want its not so tight from the cold tonight. Somewhere around 80 in here and I might just make it a little warmer by turning up the thermostat a little more.
Sure glad I don't have to pay for the first 100,000 cf of gas per year. My dog house and chicken house has to be heated off that also. Makes it tuff on days like today to have to keep the chickens warm.
Might even have to have another well drilled if it stays cold much longer. Plan on three new ones this spring and Habjan will be the purchaser of the gas from them also.
Keep your whistlers loose and the covers tight and throw another log on the fire if you got one.

Of course its not needed now that Habjan fixed all the gas problems before going back to PA. Besides the schools are closed on weekends so they are not draining the system and taking away all the gas now.

I see where the 3 guards that were selling drugs in the CRJ are all out on bond.

Hey Rose, that flannel thong so tight it's got you speechless? Huh!

She probably just got bored with all the know-it-all talk about how people who heat with gas are losers.

Funny how gas users label themselves as Losers. I haven't seen where anyone else has said that except the ones using gas.
I would think you would be pretty well lost when the gas was off on the mornings of Zero weather.

To the idiot that refers to the people without gas as welfare recipients. My mother lives in Ivydale and has had unreliable gas for 2 weeks. She is 80+ years old and worked everyday until 65 and my father was retired from the military. She has no control over the gas situation however apparently there are individuals running this utility and in the State PSC that are as narrowminded and cruel as you. If it were not for the help of (1) county commissioner Mrs. King not an individual with elected or appointed power would have done anything. Mrs. King has checked on the citizens several times a day and took gave my mothers neighbor her electric at 2:00am when the temperature was -6. Where was your ass or the ass of the utility. I will be at the Feb. 20th meeting. I will wear be wearing a Vietnam hat proudly. If you want to debate the financial status of the people without gas or anyother issues please address me. If Mr Waddell has the nerve can be persuaded to clarify his thinking. Proud of my mother and my country.

His ass was sitting at home getting rich off your poor mother. He mentioned in one of his posts that he has gas wells on his property and habjan is the buyer.

the feb 9 8:41 post

he is dependent on the gas company and dont give a damn about anyone else.

he just needs an adjustment is all and i'm sure there's a few around ivydale that would do it!!

Every man and woman that reads this blog that has a parent or loved one affected by this gas outage should stand beside Vietnam Vet and show the Clay County way of taking care of helping neighbors and righting wrongs. Sounds like a Starcher or a Boggs from Big Otter to me.

don't be so fast about being proud to be a vet. went to, what i thought was a VA rep Friday, at Clay. no dice, turned out he only reped. for the VFW and A.LEGION. claimed he was on my side, but turned out was the goat sexers or higher class that he favored. said he couldn't help me. asked him why a vet. had to run to Beckley and here and there to get help but to get medicaid from welfare you only need to go to clay. can't really see what i'm writing one eye is completely blind and the other is blurry but no help from our gov.

School's letting out at 9 AM, due to not having any gas. Just thought I'd post it, in case anyone hadn't heard yet.

Larry Gillespie was asked numerous times to have a 2 hour delay but school is more important than the communities. So go ahead vote Yes for the levy help "the click" forget about yourself and others that need heat. Let them go to there warm offices eat their hot meals and see their "friends' away from their spouses.

Vote Yes for Them
No for Yourself!

I'm sure, by the time I finished deleting all the posts that break the language rules, I wouldn't have to scroll so much on this one.

But I'm feeling kinda lazy, so I'm just starting a new post ...

ls just because you dont understand the system doesn't mean you shouldn't be proud of being a vet. if you want to get our local VA rep his office is in summersville. i have the number written down at the house.

i am proud of being a vet and always will be. i understand the need for a different style health system, but its getting better for us that live away from the va hospitals.

i have to do all my annual exams in beckley, but ijust signed up to do my regular doctors appointments in gassaway. once you get in the system you can choose from a few area docs to be seen regularly. the closest for us is in gassaway. You dont need a rep to do it, just call the beckley hospital and set up an initial appoinment. take along your DD214 they will need it.

They do a financial statement for a cost share. if you are eligible for medicaid you wont have a problem. If you have a service connected disability then you wont have any problems either if the care is related to the disablity. usually they are generous enough to relate all care to the disability regardless of what it is. whuich they should and so far they have for me.

i think all vets should get free care from all doctors and the doctors' offices should be glad to accept the vets under some type of government plan. welfare?? i think not!! many vets have lived through hell to find our system sometimes leaves them out.
