Same Ol', Same Ol' ...

I want in on the CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT that *&$! well better be filed against Wagner Gas & everybody associated with it...

There are lots of grounds to sue - lost wages, emergency child care, burst pipes, mental anguish, suffering ... what else? ... do teachers get paid for days like today? That should come out of Habjan's pocket, too.

He also needs to be paying for the gas to run the school buses that the county commissioners d*mn well better be sending to haul Wagner Gas customers to & from the PSC hearing on the 20th.

Why the 20th? Is this not an EMERGENCY? Does somebody have to freeze to death to get the PSC to get off their collective a**es & actually DO something?

You know what the PSC is doing THIS week? Having hearings to allow Allegheny Power to raise their rates.

We've got THREE county commissioners. Is Ms. King AW's favorite & that's why we're only hearing about her or is she the only one doing anything?

Franny don't share the glory with anybody or have you not noticed that yet. Not enough room on the cameras or in the papers for anyone else. She is doing a fine job on her own.
EPA won't let gas companies blow out the wells to get the water out of them anymore and thats the reason the gas is off again today. They used to blow the water out during warm weather so that freezing off gas lines didn't occur but now you have to haul away everything that comes from the wells. So I was told by a gas company worker and no they didn't work for Wagner Gas.
Maybe the EPA should get sued along with them on the class action lawsuit.
By the way how come water got in a busted gasline at Nitro and shut off their gas? Would not gas get into the waterlines also, as it seems there must be a leak in the lines.

Anonymous said...

fran hogs the spot light because she is doing things!!

i dont even go to the meeting up at the courthouse and dont know any of them, but its obvious that if the other commissioners would be raising thunder over the same things, they would be in the news too.

ok the EPA changed a few rules. why is it this one area of the county having issues with it?? This one provider is the only one falling short. if he has water to haul away he needs to be hauling it. if the lines are busted and water gets in he needs to be fixing it. in the end i believe the proof will be there and habjan will have some explaining to do.

Aand what happened in nitro a couple weeks ago was totally different.

A main water line busted and then the crews fixing it struck a main gas line with their equipment.

look it up it was in the gazette. I know first hand, my school was one of them that cancelled that day. not due to gas pressure issues. but due to a lack of water at wv state and was on a boil water advisory for a whole week after it. so all water fountains were closed.

Keep in mind a couple things, 1) it's not often that I talk highly of a local official and with good reason. 2) it was Fran that beat me during the Fall election in 06. She barely sneaked past but a win is a win.
With that in mind, Fran is the one in the forefront of the gas outage battle. She deserves credit for those efforts.
Triplett and Fran have both been working to solve the problem with King getting more attention due in no small part to the size of her chops.
The most disappointing part is Link who has not been seen at the Courthouse. He is the guy that said he would be a full time Commissioner. Just 6 weeks into serving the public and how very sad!
fran is in the news cause she is doing something and has the biggest mouth.
One last note on posting.. When Danny E posted comments and added my AW to them, he ruined the other blog at least for me. He has since apologized twice but none the less, the damage is done. Hope the same thang doesn't happen over here

I don't have Wagner Gas but I know people who do and I know people that work there. I feel bad that their gas is going off on such cold nights BUT.....school could have been called off a lot earlier today. How many people are at the school early in the morning and know that the gas was low pressure or whatever?!! A LOT!!! I'm not mad because there was no gas at school. I am mad because the Board of Education decides to wait until 8:25 to announce that they are sending the kids home at 9:00. When, clearly, they have cooks there early, the principal comes early. They could have called school off sooner than that. And then, I call the elementary to get my daughter a bus pass to go to her grandmother's house and the lady that answered the phone,(I'm not saying it was the secretary), was VERY rude with me. You better be glad that I was on the phone and not in front of her.

Anonymous said...

yea whoever does the calling off school really showed us his or her ability to reason over the past couple weeks.

maybe the cold plus snow plus low gas pressure is hard to plan all at the same time.

Anonymous said...

My My My I might as well leave town!

Anonymous said...

I for one think it is a disgrace for them to haul the kids all the way to school and then send them back home. I agree with the other anon somebody up at the school should have enough brains to know when the gas is off or low pressure or whatever. It don't take a rocket scientist to know when its below 20 degrees the town has no gas, not enough to run everything and the schools also. Of course the argument will be when business opened up they took away the gas also.
Just another fine waste of taxpayer money busing in and out all the time. Leave them home until the gas problem is over with.
Nitro had water in their gas line which shut their gas off yesterday and today. They said it was due to a ruptured water line.

Anonymous said...

I too had some problems getting a bus pass at the elementary school last week. The (lady) wasn't nice or helpful at all. In fact, she was quite rude. Won't put up with it again.

Anonymous said...

Just remember all of the above and go vote no to the levy. The system thinks we owe them those extra dollars/ Lets let them show us they appreciate us first and let them do without our extra dollars for a while. If you are mad about to day stop at the courthouse and vote no tomorrow. If you were without gas because they had to have school and fired up the furnaces vote no tomorrow. Show them we vote and we count,

ROSE said...

I voted for Melissa.

I don't recall Fran ever hootin' & hollerin' about what she's gonna do. She just goes about doing what needs to be done. A lot of people could learn a lot from her. I voted for Andy. My bad. teeheehee

Any fool knows that if it's 10 degrees all night long, it's not likely going to come a heat wave by 6:30 when the buses all pull out. Given that bit of obviousness, if there wasn't enough gas pressure throughout the past d*mn week, it's not very likely it's going to magically reappear overnight. I say let the cooks make the decision to call off school. They get there the earliest & they're all bright enough to figure out that if they can't light the stoves, the furnaces might not do much chuggin', either.

Anonymous said...

hello, we had school for an hour so we could count it as a full school day. that's how we get the federal money. it doesn't matter whether you like it or not. and by the way, the levy will pass because it will be held on a day when most voters will stay home. and if it fails, don't worry, we will spend some more of your money and keep having the election until it passes.

Anonymous said...

Rose you are a soooooooo smart!!

Anonymous said...

racing8fan, did you ever think to consider that she might have been getting a ton of calls from irrate and upset parents that all wanted their kids sents elsewhere?

I am not supporting what they did, because I believe it should have been called off before they kids ever left, BUT remember you are talking about employees that just follow the boards ignorant decisions. They have to make the best of the situation.

I am willing to bet a dime against a donut that you would be hateful and rude too if you were getting called by irrate parents every minute.

Also where was Shane that he couldn't get your daughter off the bus? Busy in his lab?

Anonymous said...

All of you who are complaining about the kids going to school and then coming back are full of it. I'm a student, and I know why we went in the first place. We went so we could be fed one meal so it would count as a day of going to school. It just keeps us from having to subtract another day from our spring break.
If you think "something should be done" in the BOE, then YOU do something rather than sit here at your computer and comment on blogs. Get out and do something, you lazy good for nothings.
I personally enjoyed getting sent home. You can't ALWAYS count on things going right. I'm sure that if there was something noticibly wrong with the gas pressure in the schools that they would have called school off last night.

i'm voting YES for the levy!!

everyone that has children in school should vote yes. even if the whole damn system is corrupt our children will still benefit from some of it. i think it's a small amount for each of us to paybfor a large pot of money.

what i dont like is the tactics used to bring the levy to the public. its not just dollar sense. its actually trying to bully people into the vote. if you dont vote then we lose this, your school will close, little league will have to pay 1000 a week and more threats around the county.

ROSE said...

When I saw there was a 2-hour delay this morning, I thought, "HUH?!" The snow's melting & it's not even all that cold out! Then I went a little further onto the sidewalk & YIKES! LOL It's slicker'n snot out there! Y'all be careful.

Unless things have changed in the past few years, school is just as open if the doors are unlocked & no buses are run. It still counts for a full day & nobody "loses" anything. I distinctly remember showing up at school to sign my boys in & being told to go home. Still counted as a full day. I don't think it'd kill anybody to go ahead & give up President's Day ...

Really, though, "I'm a student," (shouldn't you have been in bed long before 11:23?) you don't "lose" anything. Spring Break isn't a God-given right, it's merely a bonus regroup time. You're required so many hours of class time to graduate, just like the teachers are required to teach you so many hours. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Sorry. That one just cracks me up. Like anybody's going to be denied a diploma or a paycheck, one way or the other.

My kids don't play Little League anymore, they'll both be out of elementary school in a few months ... give me some benefit of the Levy that means something to ME. I don't want the hype; I want the facts.

Anyone? Anyone??

ROSE said...

Hey! I wasn't done! teeheehee

How much does it cost for gas to run the buses to & from school? Is it a significant amount or peanuts?

If it's peanuts, why do we need a Levy to pay for the activities bus?

If it's significant, why would I vote to give more $$ to whoever's fiscally irresponsible enough to p*ss away the $$ we already have??

& don't tell me that $$'s already "spent" whether it's used or not, because it's part of the "budget." That's total BS & we all know it.

Anonymous said...

Schools open on a Code A and a Code Red too. Why don't Clay got Code days?

Anonymous said...

We had little league for years before the levy. The Little league at Dundon is leased by the little league and has nothing to do with the school board. The Maysel Park is the countys Owned and insured by the county so the levy will not cost you to use these fields. Do you all not remember back in the early 70's the gym's were build with federal funds to be used for gymatoriums. Therefore the public was to be able to use these freely. So that threat can shortly be nixed. The bottom line is vote how you feel but get the facts and not the threats. I was involved in the school system until a Mr John Gency informed us at a PTO conference that if we cared for our kids we would volunteer. That struck me wrong because a lot of parents work and could not be at school daily. Then you work in concession stands to earn money and the children of the teachers and coaches eat 10 hot dogs and 5 soda's and nobody ever pays for it. but you are to work to make money for you children. No Spank You.

I have one thing to say to you.
ROFLCOPTER.

School System corrupt.. *sigh*
Some of you are really out of touch with reality.

I'm still glad there was early dismissal. Counted as a full day for me so we won't have to make it up sometime.
If you really do want to bash a school system, look at the ones surrounding Clay County. THEY have COUNTLESS school closings. Do they have to make it up? Nope.
We Do. (but yesterday will be a day we do not have to make up :) )

Sit in the shoes of the superintendent for a while and see how easy it is to make decisions that please the masses. It is impossible to do. Just like the rest of us, he makes decisions with the information he has at the time. Try it for a day - see if you can handle it.

Most of us do not have to have our good or bad decisions displayed for the public. Maybe if they were, we wouldn't be so quick to judge.

To the anon that posted on Mon Feb 12, 11:03:20 PM....for your information, yes I did think that whoever answered the phone at the elementary was putting up the irate parents and whatnot. But, when I call in being nice, you don't get with rude with me and interrupt me when I'm in the middle of a sentence. That is very rude and unprofessional. As far as my husband, unless you want to tell me who you are, which I doubt you will, you have no right to talk about me & my family. So either shut your mouth, or I'll shut it for you. By the way, I was just putting my opinion on here, like everybody else does, and then someone like you comes along and starts crap like this.

Anonymous said...

Racing8fan, don't take it all personal. Just because we can drive by your house and smell chemicals, really doesn't mean a damn thing.

Nor does it matter that your husband is an accused dog killer in the neighborhood.

As for you shutting me up. I take that as a threat. Not that I am worried that you could do it, because I seriously doubt that you could.

All of this is irrelvant. It has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Fact is, whether the secretary or whoever it was that answered the phone was rude, isn't even the point. She was doing her job and probably getting grief for following orders. Cut the woman a break. If you must bitch at someone, bitch at those that should have called school off instead of running the buses just to get the kids there and get the federal money for each one that showed up. That is what it is all about anyway, they get money for each child that shows up. With Larry now at the head of the table, so to speak, he will do whatever he can to make sure the money keeps rolling in.

If you are that concerned about it, stop bitching on a blog and go file a complaint about it. Let's face it, you can rant here all you want but is it doing anything to change the situation?

Anonymous said...

If you get the Free Press it has the levy breakdown in there. Looks as if a big whopping 8.78% will go for extra curricular activities. Thas a big $8.78 fo every $100.00 collected that will help your kid play little league. That leaves $92.00 out of that $100.00 they get to steal or hide or do whatever they want to do with it. I for one will vote NO NO NO on the levy this time around also. Taxes are high enough in this state as it is. We have no jobs here so why should our taxes keep increasing every year? Some got letters of a ten percent increase for this year alone. How many years will it take to tax you out of your home?

Its a good idea but how would they get a levy passed then? How would the richies buy up all the land in the county for taxes when you are not able to pay them? The game is to take what you work for and sell it in front of the courthouse for 1/100th of what you have invested in it.
They want your land but don't want to have to pay anything to get it so they have to have the levy passed this time so there is more land options and more land to buy come spring.

ROSE said...

I just want to clarify that I didn't slam Fran. Maybe everybody else I've talked about, but not Fran. teeheehee

Here's a few interesting facts from the Excess Levy brochure:

"Currently, most taxpayers in Clay County pay less than $30 per year in Excess Levy taxes. Even better, the rate of the new Excess Levy will be about 7% less than the current rate. This means a reduction in the tax rates. For example, a taxpayer who now pays $50 per year for the Excess Levy, will pay only $46.50 in the future.
A taxpayer now paying $30 will pay only $27.90 in the future. The Levy costs most citizens less than the cost of eating out with the family."

"The community support provided by the Clay County Excess Levy was a significant factor when the West Virginia School Building Authority approved funding for the nearly $8
million facility. With no Excess Levy, Clay County school officials feel certain there would have been no approval of funds for the Big Otter Elementary School."

Now, I'm looking forward to my tax rate going down, but I sure wish somebody would've consulted me before committing me to the new school. That was a little presumptuous ...

Well Courthouse employee you are a lier and do NOT work at the courthouse. There is not an office or a person at the courthouse that thinks Link is a joke I have worked there 10 years and know the truth. He comes in and hides in his little office space and talks on the phone or to people about the new school. He Never visits our offices does not speak to the janitors does not even associate with Pete and Fran. The part about a grant is a lie because one commissioner cannot do grants alone they are worked on as a group and voted on in a public meeting (call the county clerk and ask) If you are going to have a false identity have one that pays better, has summers off, snow days, Thanksgiving off, Christmas Off, Spring Break, Hell what have I described a SCHOOL EMPLOYEE!!!!

+ Use the dirt to raise the levies in New Orleans
+ Put the Florida alligators in the moat.

That increase in levy dollars for building upkeep is a farce someone dreamed up along with your taxes going down.
I been around a day or two and I have never seen any tax decrease anywhere. They may take it away from one but you will pay it double to another. A fine example was the food tax being taken off, what good did it do to take off two cents then add on five more cents to fuels. I go to the grocery store a couple times a month normally and go to the gas station two or three times a week.
What bites the biggest chunk from my budjet? Fuel tax of course and with people driving 60 miles to work one way it don't take a masters degree to figure out what is going to bring in the most money for the state.

Anonymous said...

THE LEVY IS JUST A WAY FOR THE SCHOOL SYSTEM TO TAX YOU DIRECTLY. OUT OF EVERY DOLLAR THE SHERIFF COLLECTS FROM YOU, THE SCHOOL SYSTEM ALREADY TAKES MORE THAN HALF. WHEN WILL WE SAY NO MORE TAXES. LET ME KEEP MY MONEY AND I WILL SPEND IT ON MY KIDS THE WAY I WANT TO, NOT THE WAY THEY WANT TO.
AND TO THOSE PEOPLE WITHOUT GAS, IT'S NOT LIKE IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE, SURELY THEY HAVE OTHER METHODS OF HEAT BY NOW.

Anonymous said...

wow, i have an idea, if the school system will let me keep my money. i will spend it on, say, something to keep my kids warm when they don't have school.(just in case my gas goes off)

Anonymous said...

You folks don't get it. the school system will haul voters election day and has for weeks been working behind the scenes to twist arms.
Other than venting on this blog, what have your done to stop the excess?

Anonymous said...

Actually the school system takes $.72 of every dollar collected for taxes in Wv. By the way with cutting off two schools why is the building upkeep still costing so much as projected? Seems a little out of hand to me.

ROSE said...

GOOD GRIEF!! At 5:15, my yard was still mud ... an hour later, it's all lovely & white again! Somehow, there's a great cleaning tip in there, but I can't figure out how to blanket my kids' rooms in snow without eventually having to deal with ... the mud. LOL

How, exactly, does an Excess Levy guarantee that Lizemores & H.E. White schools will remain open?

Anyone? Anyone??

Anonymous said...

Larry The Unstable guy done it again, waited until the last minute to call schools on a two hour delay. Bus drivers are already out in the buses burning up fuel and more then likely will not shut the buses off until time to start picking up the kids. Now you know why they need a LEVY here. Pay for excess waste.

Anonymous said...

Wonder if anyone thoght that the later it gets in the day the worse the roads are going to be. Makes sense to wait two hour until the roads are so bad you can't get anywhere to send your kids out on them.
After all the weather people are saying the freeze will hit followed by two to three inches of snow. I love living in a leadershipless county.

ROSE said...

Ya know, this time, I gotta say, I think it was a good call.

When I went outside at 5:15, it was warm & dry (relatively speaking). Frankly, I don't put much stock in what the weather people say. How many times have you heard them predict ice & snow & doom & gloom only to come back later & say (I hate this), "Looks like we dodged a bullet!"?

So today's not like Monday - that wasn't a good call. Nor is it like past 2-hour delays, where any fool could figure out that if there's already ice & snow on the ground & the temperature is only 2, the roads might just be bad. Nope, today's call was as timely as it could've been.

Here's a thought for those of you AW's referring to on his website. As a parent, why don't YOU make the call instead of relying on the weather man or Larry Larry?

If you believe the weather man, don't send your kid out to wait for the bus. Send him back to bed or take him to Grandma's house or whatever your backup plan is. Surely you have enough sense to decide how bad your road might be. Just how much faith do you have in our "professionally trained" bus drivers?

If you don't believe the weather man, bundle your kid up so he doesn't freeze waiting for a bus that isn't gonna show up. If you think the roads are good enough for the buses to run, maybe you should become a bus driver.

If you simply can't decide who you believe, bundle your kid up & drop him off at Larry Larry's house on your way to work. Maybe your kid can help figure out what the heck the weather man is trying to say.

Would levy money pay for tar and feathers?

Or would that be my tax dollars?

my road was already froze over at 5:15. and my drive out to work this morning was horrible the whole way.

i guess my kids are fortunate enough that the bus has to go past my house and turn around. so they dont stand beside the road at all

i agree rose. It never bothers my family for them to close at the last minute. usually bosses, colleges, doctors and everyone else will understand. parents should have a back up plan. you have to always plan for the unexpected. its just part of life. i'm sure larry has a lot on his mind trying to get that levy passed.

which wont help lizemore or h.e. white stay open. its not feasible to bus kids from either location to clay. Neither is building anywhere between the two schools. the area is way more spread out than valley fork and ivydale were without easy access to a major road.

it will build a pre-k room but we have all heard. Also the transportation not only goes to and from school. It helps with all trips too. I know most land owners here dont have school age children so they dont care. But the busses are used for every sport's team or band group that travels. I noticed the middle school band took a trip this past saturday which takes dollars and saved parents from driving. possibly allowing a student to participate that might not have if there parents had to drive. how is this important? ? its been proven many times that if students are more involved they make better adults. Even if you dont have school age children it is in your interest to support your future leaders by helping them learn to socialize and be better citizens.
many clay countians will not support their own kids in school so as a community we need to do eveything we can to look out for our future as a county.

wow i prolly sounded so much like larry there huh

The proof is in the pudding they say, I did some checking my taxes for last year came to a tatal of $119.34 and this year I payed around 109.53 I had the same property and vechicles this year that I had last year so you tell me how much I am paying for the levy pennys, drive my kids to and from school for extra things and let them miss out on the benifits that the levy provides for them you can see it is not costing the normal working familys hardly anything but you big land owners who and buisness owners thats who are griping about the levy that levy really helps the middle class familys that is who will suffer not the BIG fat cats who own every damn thing there are scared they will lose a penny !!!! VOT yes yes yes For the levy

Anonymous said...

yes yes yes

i too own land in clay. pay taxes on a couple pieces of property and my taxes usually run about 350$$ a year. which is down about 50$$ from last year. i beleive our property assessments are so low that we should be able to give a little to education.

Example- We are a little farther out than clendenin but since it is in kanawha county their property taxes are almost double ours.

i also have 4 kids in the system and if i pay a small fee a year to help guarantee they have ride to all their sports all around the state it is worth it. It is worth it to me to see my neighbors kids riding on a bus to an after school sport!!

It is great knowing it is there in case i cant make it to places as far away as wirt county or scott high in boone county.

most people here wont even pay into it (most of it comes from business)and everyone gripes so much about helping to provide for the future. complain about government but not doing a damn thing to help the future be better?? Our current leaders will hardly change overnight so we must bring up our young children with expectations of good valued government capabilities.

extacurricular activities are a major role in any well rounded education!!

look at all of our successful people now. most of them can say they played sports on the college or high school level and are proud of it.

we need to offer that same opportunity to our county so we can be just as successful.

Anonymous said...

furthermore there are lots of supplies that get purchased out of it. New books is another big one. i dont think kids should use old ragged out books or out dated materials.

the levy eases a large burden on the county by paying for books and supplies. there is your direct contribution to education!!

AW site says - Feb 14 7:25 am With some students and teachers already at school.... CLAY COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED FOR WEDNESDAY Feb 14th.

The book Clay Elem makes every parent and student sign says THE SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY STUDENT WHO ARRIVES BEFORE 7:35 A.M.

So the kids already there were kids of teachers or cooks. If parents are dropping their kids off before 7:35, that's their own tuff titty.

sports sports sports YOU are an IDIOT !!! to play sports you have to have good grades this practice prompt students to try harder to achieve higher grades hince they learn more!!!!JEEZE some people all work and no play ... you have to give the kids somthing to work for !!!!THINK ....

Anonymous said...

I guess school employees should just not have any children then everything would be fine

Re the poster's ? about what the levy does for education:

When is the last time you had to go looking for a place to buy your child's textbooks?
Or tried to make an agreement with some other family to buy their child's used textbooks?
Pencils?
Erasers?
Rulers?
Paper?

How do you think the Middle School and High School bands are able to travel to away games and Band Festivals?

How about the FFA, TSA, FBLA, and other teams that are sent all over the country to represent not just our fair county, but the entire state of West Virginia, in national competitions?

Transportation, meals, lodging...
How would you like to finance that?
Or just the amount it would take to send your own child or grandchild?

Do you ever read the minutes of the Board meetings? Ever notice how often support for these activities is approved by the board?
How about how often support is denied?
I cant think of a single time such support for these organizations' participation in these activities was not approved.

Do you think that participation in these activities is good for a student's self-confidence, maturity, attitude toward eduction, and all those other intangibles necessary to develop into a responsible, contributing adult?

I know it is.

You're already financing the criminals and convicts through the daily rent we have to pay for our CRJ residents.

How about spending some where it will do some good?

The proof is in the pudding they say, I did some checking my taxes for last year came to a tatal of $119.34 and this year I payed around 109.53
I bet it never occurred to you that your vehicle is 1 year older and the value has dropped on it, and you get to vote!!!!!! What a shame that people don't think things out before they type crap here.

Anonymous said...

yea but that wasnt his or her point. look at the small amount that is paid. her part of the levy if she even paid anything would be just a little bit.

i support the levy so i looked at that and saw the same thing you pointed out. but however a person always leans toward what they think.

VOTE YES FOR THE LEVY

You can surely tell that school is out today. And for all you Yes wanna be's YOU need to take a look at the real picture and take a look at the TAX pie and see just exactly how it is cut up and what it is used for.
Your taxes may be a little less this year but its not because it was reduced by the Levy they want to get passed.
It is a shame that the use of force and strong arm tactics is used to pass anything in this county and threats are being made over what or what not you are going to loose in the schools.
I read in the papers County Budjets, County Grants, along with the School Budjets and its really a shame that in a poor county with uneducated people who can't seem to understand that its not just a LEVY its a waste of TAX money that it brings about. You need to read a little more. They put the word out that this levy would be less then the last one was. Totals last time came to $447,129.00 for 100% of the levy funds. This time it is projected $556,808.00 or 100% yearly total.
Typical Clay County Education $447,129 is less the $556,808.00.
Its that new modern math they use to make it less. Glad I have the old school Math knowledge.
You all keep griping about its or the kids and after school activities, it looks to me that 8.78% is not very much money being applied to fund these allocations. Actuallyit has the smallest increase of all the LEVY money projected, as it only increases $4750.00. If I am looking at this picture incorrectly then I surely need my glasses changed.
And I voted today at the court house while I was there.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO more excess money to waste

Yeah your right we are out of school and actually have the time to sit at our computer and read the dumb stuff that ya'll put on here at all hours of the day....why aren't you ever at a job? Or maybe your employer doesnt know that you are sitting at his/her computer at their expense leaving stupid blogs about things you know nothing about. If you have a job you better get to work and if not then you better go and get an education so that you can find something better to do.

Anonymous said...

You shouldn't be allowed to vote on the levy if you're on welfare, which is about 9/10 of this county. You get your money handed to you for sitting on your fat a$$ all day, so that should void your right to vote on such matters.

Amen bro

Anonymous said...

to all the amen people out there: my no vote was not against the levy but against a system that refuses to divulge where and what the money is/was used for. there's the 2.6 mil. to the IRS that Linkinogger never acknowledged or explained why it was paid to the IRS.

as for getting new books to use by all students , I believe the BOE is required to purchase old classbooks at half price.
Instead they have found that the present installed system allows the powers that hire to place their relatives and favorites in favored positions. this not only detracts from the tax base by removing this business from the public domain, taking the profit from a businessman, who would have then recirculated the money in the community. Will cut this short, and just say that the GREEDY HOGS WILL BE HOGS. Look and see how many of these jobs are held by FREEMASONS and their family members.

it seems i got to long on the last one and got cut.

You would be surprised to know what I know or don't know. I been around a day or two and I have done a few things that make me very capable to know about taxes, levys, welfare or any other subject you may want to bring about. The one thing I don't know about is Kissing A** as the butt wipes do who work for the BOE. Now theres a subject for you tell us how you became a SUCK A** and then explain why you don't have enough backbone to make decisions on your own and have to follow someone around so close if they turn the corner it breaks your nose off or your whole face breaks.

Not a BOE suck so vote NO on the LEVY

Anonymous said...

Why would you want your child to learn from old text books? Go figure.

Anonymous said...

why aren't you ever at a job?

Why I aren't on a job? I don't need to work. There no job out there I would fit in and besides my Welfare and Food Stamps would be cut off if I went to work.
Now you know why I aren't working.
Pays better then any job I ever knew about.

your old time math will fool you sometimes unless you look at all of it.

the end dollar amount can be more but the tax pecent could be less.

reason being is it is based on tax assessment. if some of these companies have tracts of timber that hasnt been cut then their property value goes up every year providing we dont have fire or such to destroy the timber. which we havent had. if companies have improved or added then they to area assessed higher. thats what it is all based on.

so as assessed value goes up on the companies the tax cut might be there but end up in more tax dollars collected.

then to LS i am glad that the old LINKONSHIESTER is out of there. we cant judge the BOE on his actions. if all the citizens have to pay less than 100$$ annual and the businesses pick up the rest of the tab to ensure our kids have it all? ? where is the problem?? your concerned about link and others in the board about being corrupt but you dont want to change anything? ?

we are poor and our society lets alot of things happen because they aren't educated. we should educate our youngsters to the fullest so they can make a difference.

Someone has already mentioned the fact that they refuse to say where the Levy dollars go. But it's worse.
Levy dollars free up general budget dollars so those funds can be used as they darn well please.
For instance, astro turf for Ron Jerk.

Uh ... um ... geez ... Some of y'all need to take a deep breath & chill a little or you're gonna bust something.

Hey! Look at that! I got the notice for tomorrow's 2 hour delay tonight @ 7:56! Now THAT's great timing! C'mon, y'all, we've all hacked on 'em for taking so long, so on the count of 3, let's all give credit where it's due ... 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... YEA, TEAM!

(Here's an interesting sidebar note. Well, interesting to me, anyway. LG was an authority figure for me when I was in school & consequently, I'll never, ever be able to call him anything other than Mr. Gillespie to his face. Ditto with everybody else who was a Mr. or Mrs. to me during my formative years. I hate that for me.)

What SPECIFICALLY will be lost if the levy fails to pass? I don't care about who spent what or who wants what or all that hoopla stuff. What I want to know is what line items on the budget will be completely wiped out without the levy dollars? Actually, I'd like to see the budget ...

There was an activity bus before the levy
there were free textbooks before the levy
we had more schools before the levy
Since the levy we have schools with nice computers but no ink for the printers
Since the levy classrooms do without pencils and copy paper
And Linky poo got a higher salary.

I thought non profits like the WVU Extension office could not campaign for the Excess Levy.
Yet, they have mailed out news letters telling all the good they get from the Levy.
Can somebody explain or call the IRS

good morning all

VOTE YES FOR THE LEVY!!

specific things lost. i haven't had to buy any school supplies for any of my grade schoollers since moving here. then trips-not only for sports but also when young intellects travel to represent our county. all of that money comes from the levy. our kids wouldn't be able to go to as many as they do now.

sometimes they will ask for a fundraiser because if they just spent out the dollars unchecked it wouldnt last. so a group is more likely to get board approval if they have tried to earn money themselves.

but i guess the biggest thing lost overall would be a balanced budget that isn't in the red. it does free up lots of money to do other things with. hopefully not astro turf. that is an issue on its own and we should all stand togethor to say no turf.

lots of mention of what we had before the levy. it seams your memory might be failing you. i was a student here not long ago and moved now i am back with school aged kids. it wasnt that long ago i sat in these same schools and my kids have lots more things. computers with ink, supplies, field trips(we never took any), grade school basket ball was non existent when i came through. now its there-not affiliated with the county system but use the school's gyms for the basketball.

I'm not even involved in the board and those are just simple things i can see. i help my local school and i know the internet service and computer systems aren't cheap. with todays technology steadily growing i believe the net is required for them to learn. all of it was bought out of levy funds!!

I don't have a clue as to where you went to school in Clay county but when I was in grade school way back when. We had Basketball, softball, school plays, play grounds and fresh air. No computers and no ink for printers but we had a copy machine that used ink. All our test were printed on this copy machine and teachers taught school from books supplied by federal moneys. Teachers could actually teach then also. I don't know where you been but you need to get your head out of the sand.

As for the anon that posted about the timber companies paying for the levys, you also need to wake up and go to the assessors office and see how many Company land owners that have their timberlands in a Timber Management Program, therefore taxes have been reduced to nothing until the timber is actually cut. When it is cut the county gets a very small tax from the removal of it and most the time they don't even pay that. The landowners pay for everything in this county and the rest of the state. Also every car or truck that you own has triple tax on it so coal gas and oil companies don't have to pay so much.
It should be a required subject in this state that the "TAX BASE" information be taught to every child before they can graduate high school and also be required before a teaching degree be granted so people would know who is paying what into the system.

yea and you must be old.

the county quit funding any sports on the grade school level many years ago!! we didnt have the funds and something had to be cut. your generation might have had it, but mine did not. ask anyone involved in the current little league basketball. it got its start a less than 15 years ago by rodney Aleshire and a couple parents. then since then many parents have made it possible. the administration changes every couple years as srudents grow and parents follow their own kids.

before you say what the county has had(since you think it has been available all this time) ask someone that works with the kids or leagues. non of them on elementary level are county sponsored because the county cut them long ago. the levy now makes it possible for us to use their facilities. which are gyms.

my head might be in the sand but yours seams to be stuck in a place i need not mention.

have a nice day!!

MIAMI (AP) -- Retired Miami Heat guard Tim Hardaway said Wednesday that he hates gay people, but later said he regretted the remarks.

"You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people," he said while a guest on Sports Talk 790 The Ticket. "I'm homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."

My head may be somewhere you don't care to mention but I at least have not been brainwashed to the facts of voting no on a levy that has to be funded by poor people who have fixed incomes and struggle to hang onto family owned land or homes.
I am old enough to know how the system works and who it works for and who it don't. I also know that giving little junior something to do besides play at something will benefit not only you, him or the community and also learn them something in the process. If they don't learn anything else in life they will at least know that working with their hands and mind will get them a little farther down the road then playin or sitting on the couch either one.

Anonymous said...

your a funny man!!

this type of levy usually never effects the poor except to let there kids have a better experience in school.

run your numbers-- it usually effects the middle class and above. it could possibly cause someone hardship if there money isnt managed right. but its doubtful that anyone will even miss it.

i think you are in your 50s or 60s and have no link to any school. the only thing you see is your money going out and since you aren't invovled you dont see any return on it. i think everyone that votes should not only undestand taxes but go to the schools and talk to teachers and coaches to learn what they think first hand.

you dont give a crap what it will do for our community. you gotta be one of those that dont care about the future. why not right, you prolly wont be here much longer so why make it better for others.

maybe you have no life except work and sleep. or maybe you need friends. i will be your friend.

Anonymous said...

go to the schools and talk to teachers and coaches to learn what they think first hand.

Half the teachers in this county have no idea about taxes, how they work where they come from or anything else except what they are told to do. Anyone that thinks the way you do will not only vote for anything they want to hand out but will also follow along with the school system and whatever they want to do.
I have seen all the changes made in the past 50 years and its still the same way as it was then. Pay you taxes ask no questions and do as you are told. Walk blindly as the blind leading the blind.

Anonymous said...

Teachers pay taxes too.
So- Get off that "I pay their salary" battle cry.
They pay for their own salary as well as support the welfare crowd who didnt try to learn in school, hated school, and is now raising the next generation just like them.
If you think being a state employee is the same as being state-supported, you need to open your eyes.
I know some teachers, and some other state employees, and some welfares.
I know the difference, too.
Go down to the DHHR. See if you can tell the difference between the employee and the client.

Yep the ones on welfare are the ones driving that big fine caddy and dressed in the $500.00 suits when you see them in Charleston. State checks are state checks no matter if your dumb enough to work for it or just get it at the P.O. All pays the same money its all green only difference the food stamp card comes with some of the checks if you just work at the P.O. one hour or so a month.

To Sir Henry: You are absolutely correct when you say the kids know nothing about history. As a matter of fact, if you ask a kid anything about history, chances are that he/she can't answer any questions. BUT, ask them about the latest movie, movie star or sports star or the lyrics to the latest rap song, I bet you a dollar to a doughnut they can answer every one of those questions. If that's what the kids are learning in school, the who needs the levy? Let the school system go on and NOT teach the 3 R's and see what the future holds then. Chances are that the kids can't name all 5 of the great lakes or even the capital of their own state. Most of them can't spell or use proper grammar. It's not just in Clay County, it's everywhere. If the schools put as much effort into teaching as they did making sure the football players had a nice field to play on, it would be a much better world.

yeah whatever....look at how many illiterate adults you have over 50 around here.....doesnt look like things have changed much you can blame the school system all you want but it takes the family too...look at how many kids come from homes where the parents cant read they are divorced and living with God knows how many men or women and they just dont care much about their kids they want the school system to do everything including their job
