Good morning, all!

My firstborn son walked out of here this morning with spit-shined shoes & a tie (he's 12). He's on his way to the Capitol to sit in on a legislative session. He might even meet Smokin' Joe (yes, I gave him detailed messages to pass along! teeheehee).

Wasn't it just yesterday that this kid was learning to walk? 'scuse me while I have a Mommy Moment ...

Go ahead, Rose. Have your mommy moment. Just wait until you look at your little boy who is 37 with 3 kids. Talk about a mommy moment. sob. sob.

Am going to try to have a good day in spite or your original post. Such sadness and depravity. You and every one have a good one too. Later.

Oh, and HAPPY GROUND HOG DAY!!!

I betcha Fola Coal doesn't shut down! They think they are above anyone elses rules. Wonder who a person shoul contact to turn em' in?

Don't you people ever get out of the house. Governor Joe can't shut down the coal industry. All he can do is ask. Some mines will close for a day, some for an hour and some for a 5 minute safety check. Turn them in???? There is no law to forces them to stop production.

What an idiot!

I agree with wvchic. Chill. No reason to be so mean. Any attempt that the gov or anyone else makes to try to make it safer for miners should be applauded.

All the mines should be shut down until someone from the state got to the mines to check them out. That way, it would be done right and half-assed. (Sorry Rose). That if there was a problem it could be fixed; not just giving a clean bill health because it your mine. The Gov. should also set up a team of skilled workers to make surprise inspections.

It took Governor Manchin 1 day to unanimously pass legislation that will cost mine owners $100,000 just for not reporting an emergency within 15 minutes. I'd say if he wants the mines shut down, he'll get them shut down.

I don't think he made any demands, though, did he? No, he asked/recommended/suggested that mine owners do this voluntarily. I doubt any of them will refuse with any gusto. Fortunately, not everybody needs a "law" to tell them what to do.

Mines are already inspected on a random/regular basis. Obviously, this isn't enough. There once was a huge problem with inspectors showing up at mines, schmoozing with the management, deals being cut, pockets being lined, mines being deemed safe with no inspection whatsoever taking place.

Governor Manchin may lack the judicial power to shut down all the mines for safety checks, but he can darn sure make it hard on the ones that don't care enough about their employees to follow his recommendation.

The citizens should win.
Jerry Linkinogger is the best bet. Randy Holcomb is the greatest we have had in 20 years and Randy said that Jerry would be to. Randy swore on his life that Jerry Linkinogger would turn this county around in the courtroom last week in front of Judge Alsop, Gene King and Mike Asbury. He said Jerry was already bringing grants into his office freeing up his budget so he could give all his employees a raise and hiring an officer to work at the high school. I voted Holcomb and Holcomb says vote LINK.

hey why won't link explain his financial dealings. theres the ivydale school deal a back room deal where, it's my opinion, someone fattened their bank account. why won't LINK explain the 2,660,000.oo dollars to the IRS. will LINK be doing his back room dealings in the co. comm. seat. does a leopard change its spots. VOTE JS A MAN WHO BACKS HIS BELIEFS.

You know anon as a citizen of this county and one that has stood on the front line for a very long time I also have my opinion of both your comments about Link posted not only here but on other blogs as well as I read each and everyone when I can and comment if I can.... Here is my point>>> I think about every voter in Clay co. should know that women who have applied for work while Link was in office has also been guaranteed work for sexual favors in some cases. I also read the papers that come out and see where Zillions have been spent by Link and the BOE over the past few years and I also read County Budjets reported or parts thereof and I to can add and subtract.. 1+1=3 for BOE and Link 1+1=-00 for the voter-citizen of this county. Now as for Randy or Holc as you call him he can be a one term sheriff just as well as a two term its just up to the voters of this county and the nack of persuassion by the people to their neighbors or the lack therof. Now as for Links knowledge of Grant Writing I to can write Grants or you for that matter either way its the presentation of such and who they are presented to and at what time will they be granted to the grantor. You make it sound as if Link is God when it comes to this county.. I got news for you and for him<> The BOE does not own nor employee all people in the county there fore just because Link and you walk around hand in hand it don't mean all of the people living here do..Womanizers have no place in the courthouse as few working there are men and I am sure the ones that knows Link have a different point of few about him also.

JS does NOT back his beliefs. He says that the "10" is not religious. He's weak! If he were a true Christian he would say that the '10' is very much a religous thing. So by saying that they are not reglious he is breaking another commandment~~Thou shalt NOT LIE!

He smoozes everything over and smiles that stupid smile and everyone eats it up. Like the ignorant bible thumpers that they are.

When are these people gonna see that he is a liar? Why is he not standing up in the face of adversity and saying that he is a Christian and that the '10'is what his religion is based on? I have your answer, he's a cheat, liar and is ONLY looking out for #1. HIMSELF!

To the Anon yesterday saying governor Manchin didn't have the power to shut down the mines - WHO'S THE IDIOT NOW? MSHA is calling for a national shut down of ALL mines on Monday. Do you think they came up with that idea on their own?

Scenario #1: Link at the capital (or a dinner or anywhere there's other elected officials). He tries to make a move on a female delegate or senator. Clay has a sexual harrassment suit against it.

Scenario #2: MP in the same setting. No matter what anybody says, she disputes it because she knows more about it. Eventually, tempers flare. You can imagine the rest. Clay has another black eye.

Scenario #3: JS in the same setting. Been there, done that. Clay has nothing.

Scenario #4: Everybody write in their own name on the ballot. Just for the hell of it.

If what AW is reporting on his page this morning is a fact, and I have no reason to think it's not, too bad. This is why we have so little in this County. I for one am staying here for a very specific reason and when that reason no longer exists, I am getting out of here. No shopping to speak of; what businesses we have are struggling for the most part and with what we have to chose from in the upcoming election, I don't think there will be any changes of any kind. Just more of the same. Of course, I know other places have their dirty politics and such but at least a person who is willing to get off their ass and work can find a decent job without having to be related to or have sex with someone who can give them a job. In spite of all the good, hard working folks who live here, in general this whole county sucks for air. I fully expect someone to come back with a slam against AW and believing anything he says, but at least since he has been around, he keeps some heat on the ones who had always before got away with all kinds of illegal doings. So have at it.

Anon, How in the world do you get dirty politics because two organizations to not share every element of every project. Do you think the DOH talks to the DNR everytime they clean a ditch. No the problem is people like you that like to gripe but never attend any meetings, volunteer for any boards, or step up and help but like to SIT on their ass an bitch. Plus before you pat CAEZ on the back go to the usda website under caez and find that the clay based caez has filter 54 million dollars thru our county look at the breakdown and see how much of it stayed in our county. lets be fair before we start slinging snot.

I'm totally changing the subject here because I have a question about an article I just read on the Hur Hearld wesbite.
There is an elementary school principal in Gilmer County that resigned (after his license was revoked) because they found thousand of porno pictures on his computer at school and his personal computer, which he used for school related purposes. They also saw pictures of him "in various states of undress" in the school office. (Meaning he was in the school office when the pictures were taken, I think.)
My question is, since he resigned and wasn't fired does he still get to collect his retirement and other such benefits from the state since he was a state employee?
...Thousands of pictures of pornography with "young people". Hmmm I have tons of family pictures and stuff like that on my own computer; a collection that I thought was pretty vast. But it amounts to 523 pictures. He had THOUSANDS of pictures of pornography with young people. I can't get over that.

To 11:29 comment. I have on several different occasions, tried to be a part of different organizations and each and every one of them are the same. One group within the organization against another one in a ridiculous in-fight. If I spoke up for what I thought might be the right way to go about something, then I was on the other groups crap list. So don't go yelling a me. I tried and the mentality in this County makes getting anything done totally impossible. I tried to be tactful in stating my opinion. Now I'm telling you that you are probably one of the people that makes this place what it is. The butthole of the world.
