Word of the Day ...

Onomatopoeia - the naming of a thing or action by a vocal imitation of the sound associated with it.

Given the vein of our most recent discussions, I'm feeling the need to stretch my intellect. Remember when your mom told you your face might freeze that way? I'm afraid if we don't get out of "dumb down mode" quick, we'll all get stuck there!

Buzz is an onomatopoeia.

I had never though of AW as a total threat to our community until before the county commission meeting last week. Fran so graciously presented some observations and questions to AW that he could not answer directly. She pointed out that a lot of the slighted post on his web and newspaper are also read by people who are in charge of funding or wanting to locate jobs in our county and that they would not be interest think the everyone is corrupt. She asked him just how many jobs he had created at he radio station and newspaper over the past 10 years. She asked what organizations he volunteered on. If he picked up trash or served on a board or tried to promote our county or if he tried to promote conflict to sell papers. He stumbled and arived at the answer of employing 1 person but would not reveal who. He laughed the laugh of defeat when asked if selling a paper was worth damaging our county. I challenge all of you to not purchase anymore papers why support our own demise. It has become evident to me thanks to Fran that a dollar in his pocket is more fuel to add to the flame of stomping any hopes of clay county.

I did not see one onomatopoeia in that whole post! Grrrrrrr!

Anonymous said...

I agree with SB and anon. But I don't think I can quit purchasing his paper or reading his site. I think I'm an addict. At least I'm not in denial. I know that's the first step toward recovery.

Anonymous said...

And that is maybe why he has'nt had a new post today?

Anonymous said...

Now now anon lets not go that far at least there was one job created in the mess. By the way Fran didn't give poor ole AW time to answer any questions she asked. AW like any good reporter will report just exactly what will sell papers. Every day you can sit in front of the TV and listen to the same type reporting. The latest example and I quote (the white house waited almost a day before reporting the shooting on the VP's friend) Do them idiots that report that stuff not have any consideration as to the facts. Do they not consider that the VP may have taken his buddy to the hospital out of concern for his welfare (have you ever done that) taken someone to the Hospital. Heres the catch (takes the majority of the day to get in and out of a hospital around here) providing its a serious matter. Do you think maybe that would contribute to the wh taking the most of the day to report the incident....When you have something like that going on if you have any humanity at all about you the fartherest thing from your mind is making sure some Dumb A** news reporter knows the story and as they should be the last to know what difference does it make. NBC has blown that completely out of context the past three days.

Anonymous said...

Grrrrrr!!! I will continue to buy and read AW's "little rag". Better than who visited who and who has a backache and who went to the doctor. And, he does give a lot of positive coverage of our school kids accomplishments and his "Person of the Year" I think is a good idea. And yes, I have been on the receiving end of some negative coverage in some matters but I can take the heat. I do what I think is the right thing and if others disagree, that's fine. I have learned the hard lesson of how to disagree without being disagreeable.

Anonymous said...

Fran never gives anyone a chance to answer anything. Can't think of an onomatopoeia for chronic diarrhea of the mouth.

Hey rosie girl.....just making my way thru days of blogs....been away from this dreadful addicting devil box, and I cant seem to get some of the blogs to work. Are they gone or what? Where did Frog and the others hop off too?? And what happened to all those sites MP had...I see she is back in the water business again. I thought she had smartened up and got out of that one......dang was I wrong. Apparantly, I should have stayed glued to this box. What a soap opera....better than One Life to Live. hey thats it....I know how to make money for Clay...a soap opera using real characters. Now all we need is some board member to sleep with someones spouse. Any takers on that one????? tee hee hee

ROSE said...

JustMe stopped by & said he'd changed the URL on the jailbirds site, but he never told us what it was! Don't know what happened to Frogger. Just POOF! & they were gone!

Does justme wonder why no one visits his site? Maybe it's just us few that don't know how to get there? I loved that jail bird site!

Me, too! JustMe? You still out there??

If you have a lisp, is PISSSSS still an onomatopoeia??

Did anybody witness Jeff Boggs making an A-- of himself at the ballgame Tuesday night. According to the WVAC we will be sanctioned and our girls will forfeit the next 3 games.

P.S. Never say that it was a long time ago or that ya' can't remember. You're supposed to make up your own words and say that Paul Simon is singing it all wrong. hahaha

Well maybe anon was right just talked to Roger Nutter CAEZ did not get their money for the railroad. Nice dream but how many people would it actually employee and how many tourist would come to dundon to spent 100.00 a night on a cabin. He said they were still going to build the campground.

Anonymous said...

Maybe they DO read AW's web in Charlietown.

Anonymous said...

You bet your sweet ass we do. Sometimes we print it out & take it to restroom instead of the Gazette. Easier to handle and doesn't make as much noise.

Anonymous said...

What are MP's websites? Does anyone know how to get to them?

Anonymous said...

ROTFLMAO.

Rose, only took about 20 comments to get to "you know who" this time. Unbelievable!! I think I have developed my very own "morbid obsession" about this. UUUGGGHHH!!

ROSE said...

Good morning, all!

Ah, brulz, I think next time, I'll moderate the post & reject any comments not relevant to the topic of the day. I'm guessing we'd have ... 3 comments? before the whole thing stalled. I don't know why I bother with trying to get a line of thought going. I should just rename the whole thing ""All Things MP" & be done with it.

Anonymous said...

Good mornin', Rose. Oh, don't do that. In between the relentless comments about the dreaded MP, there are a lot of fun and informative comments left here. I love your blog just the way it is. No frills and fancy pics. You make us think a little. Gives me one hellava headache sometimes though. lol. The other blogs that have the pics and music and stuff are nice but I still like your's the best. So, take a deep breath and keep on keepin' on.

Kinda hard not to talk about her when she throws herself in front of us all the tiem. She said complaints are going to be filed at the PSC. Look how many she has there. She says the truth is more than some can take maybe that's why she always lies. She says there could be costly lawsuits but she filed some herself. That's teh problem. She just keeps SAYING. If she'd shut up, the rest of us could.

Anonymous said...

sounds to me like "oh mom i wanna pee" I think we have a winner in MP. she sure would pack the courthouse. with all the negative comments about her she sure is getting publicity think i'll maybe vote for her. sorry rose can't vote for link. he won't account for 2,660,000 dollars. don't want him in the courthouse. maybe i'll just stick with brother SAM. NEGATIVE-NEGATIVE-NEGATIVE MP-MP-MP-THE the corn starch kid BBB

ROSE said...

Oh, BBB, it doesn't matter what Link will or won't account for. Just go back over the Valentine thread & you'll see that nobody cares about that "historical" stuff. All that's important is that he play well with others.

MP would most assuredly pack the courthouse. They'd have to build an addition just to accomodate the satellite news vans & a hotel to accomodate the reporters. She'd be great for bringing money in the county & nobody'd care where it ended up. Actually, it wouldn't matter, would it, since that'd be private money. AW'd probably raise the cost of The Communicator to $1 just because he could.

I'm staying home on election day. I'm not voting for any of them. But I am going to sit here & bitch & complain & gripe & carry on about what a dismal job they're all doing. Then I'm going to go to all the meetings & make a public a*s of myself. Then I think I'll come home & give a full report of everything that took place. In my own words, of course.

Before anybody even bothers, I'm not really staying home on election day. I will at least cast my vote. Don't even start with me on that one.

Anonymous said...

I think that AW is right, there is no reason to paint a rosy picture when everything is just the oposit.
Thatis what CN had done fo years

Anonymous said...

Here's what I don't understand. First she talks about how she wants to be treated like a equal board member. Then she talks about how the board did this and the board did that, like she ain't got nothing to do with it. If things are so bad, why don't she step up and do something? If complaints get filed, they're against her, too, aren't they? It's either all or nothing, not pick & choose like she's doing. She's either a part of it or she ain't, whether she agrees with it or not.

Anonymous said...

If the Council, Commission, Boards, etc., would stop doing things that are questionable or downright illegal, then there wouldn't be so much negative stuff to report. I don't see why some have such a problem with AW's reporting of the meetings. He doesn't make the stuff up. I have been to lots of meetings that he has reported about and I have not seen anything in his reports that did not happen just the way he says it did. Even when it's not clear what happened, AW says so.

And Rose, I do admire what you are trying to do on the Board you are serving on currently. You are a brave woman to tackle cleaning up the mess. And the others also, except of course, MP. She is totally out of her league. I don't mean to be unkind, but she just isn't the type of person needed to serve on the Board. Anyway, said my piece for the day. Off to work now. Hi Ho, Hi Ho.

Ahhhh now to the rest of the story:::::: Jeff Boggs??? Well Poopy and Bailey both were asked to remove Jeff from the game at half time by the refs did they do that. No H*** NO neither one did their job and I guarantee you that had it been you or me they would have mazed us cuffed and stuffed us right on out the door.. Was this the right thing to do??? Jeff was beligerant to the refs and continued to hassle the refs all thru the game and Poopy just turned a deaf ear to the fact and so did Bailey... Now I wonder just who will suffer for their dirlect of duty "If you guessed" the girls ballteam then you win the prize because the refs told them Poopy,Link, Bailey, Coaches and staff that Action would be taken and guess where it will take place. Right down at the civic center during the state finals if not before then. Ball team has to sit out the next three games??? Why not just eject Jeff, POOPY, and Bailey from the rest of the games this year... Simple solution to that problem but no this is Clay County make the "kids" suffer for another elected officials mistakes. Makes Sense to Me

Anonymous said...

Hey sloopy the correction to MP's problem would be for her to get out of PUBLIC SERVICE and keep her DUMB ideas at home. NO not in the kitchen, under the bed or somewhere in that vicinity. She's not a part of anything just wasting space and wasting good air.

(sounds like he thinks of MP as the rest of us do)

Clay Roane PSD Chair Grigsby's letter from Feb 13 2006

Fellow Members and Officer:

First of all, I want to state that I probably owe Crystal an apology for the foul language that I used after being informed of Melissa Postelwait's (MP) website and its contents. I was in a great mood this morning and looking forward to working on obtaining funds for the Pumpkin Ridge project. Upon learning of MP's site and the detrimental information that she is putting out about the District, I was sorely upset. I truly felt betrayed. After all of our hard work as board members and staff, and MP's assurances that everyone would set aside their differences to work towards a common goal, I could not believe that she would not be aware that her statements would undermine our efforts. For the past 10 months the new board has worked diligently to improve the District's finances and gain the public's trust. I feel that we have made tremendous strides in both areas.

I contacted MP at 4:00 pm today and tried to have a conversation with her about my concerns over her website and the petty issues that she raised. I explained to her that in contacts and conversations with many of our funding and regulatory officials last week, I learned that they do, from time to time, surf our sites (AW's site and links) to see if anything controversial is happening. MP did not seem to understand why this is a problem. I tried to explain to her that even though she may have issues with other board members, she should not air them on her website and stir unnecessary controversy. I feel that MP has a personal vendetta, because as hard as I tried to explain to her why it is not appropriate to have detrimental comments on her website regarding the board at a time when the board is seeking funding for the Pumpkin Ridge Project, she could not understand. I explained to her that if the only actions I could expect from her would be detrimental to the District, I would have no recourse other than to limit contact with her regarding District business outside of the public meetings. She complained that she was not being filled in on day to day operations at the plant. I informed her that we do not micro manage the day to day operations of the District. We have competent, trained employees whose job it is to operate and maintain the District.

Concerning the information on MP's website about gravel at the plant, we had customers complaining about the condition of the parking lot and claiming damage to their vehicles. Not only were customers complaining about the parking lot, but the regulatory and administrative officials that performed the Sanitary Survey had to park on this lot while conducting their survey. The condition of the parking lot not only reflected badly on the District, it created an immediate liability for the plant. I personally did not enjoy seeing elderly customers stepping out of their vehicles into a mudhole when coming to pay their accounts. After conducting price comparisons and having discussions with the employees and board, we contacted Eddie Johnson of Bartlett Concrete. Mr. Johnson immediately responded by going above and beyond expectations by immediately providing the gravel, invoicing the District for the materials only, and allowing the District to operate his equipment thereby incurring no charges for an operator.

We also discussed the results of the sanitary survey. MP claimed that it was this board's fault that the violations were not addressed in a timely manner. I informed her that all of the violations were issued before or during her tenure as chairperson. She stated that she could not get the previous board to take any action and that there were no funds available at the time to remedy the situations. I reminded her, that during her tenure, there was not only inaction on the violations, but mismanagement of funds in overpayments that she made to herself (the other board members did not accept any payment at the time). She did not respond to this statement.

I'm writing this email to inform each of you of what transpired and my position regarding the same. I will only have contact with MP at public meetings or upon request by the District employees. My personal feelings are that she is working, at this time, to undermine the funding that we are trying to secure for the Pumpkin Ridge Project, as well as derail any improvements to services for the District. Again, I want to assure you that I only wish to work in a professional manner with regard to any District business. I feel that MP did not and does not act in a professional manner when posting unsubstantiated and detrimental information regarding the District on her website and conducting herself in a non-professional manner in public. I am also going to copy Andy Waddell on this email since he provides the public with information and has a vested interest in the betterment of Clay County.

Sincerely,

Dave Grigsby
Chairperson
Clay-Roane PSD

Well, there ya go. More negative stuff to report. Way to go, Jeff. And shame on you, Randy!! And shame on you, Bailey!!

Just how in the hell can you, Jeff, justify behaving like an ass and causing our team to be penalized? What would you do if someone behaved this way in your Magistrate Court? You should have been thrown out just like you would throw an idiot out of your courtroom. How disgusting is this?? Can't find the words that would be acceptable for this blog.

Anonymous said...

I was at the game and wanted to throw Jeff out myself, but had I done that, then you bet your sweet behind, that I would have been cuffed and stuffed and hauled off to jail. There were others around me that felt the same way. Good grief, this is just awful.

Anonymous said...

It don't really matter as to what set him off the refs are paid officials to do the job to the best of their abitlity and not to satisfy people sitting in the bleachers. Sometimes there is a bad call now and then but as a player, coach, parent or spectator you have to have enough gumption about you to know when enough heckling is enough over it. It shows not only poor sportmanship but also ignorance on the part of the home team spectator to show your A** and make a complete A** out of your actions.
Had I been the official I would have not only called a Techinical for the obsenenous but I would have discontinued the game until the Sheriff or State Police removed Mr. Jeff Boggs from the game and I would not have allowed it to continue until he was out of the building. It just goes to show you how the law actually works in this county. Good Move

You can bet your sweet ass if it had been Greasy Pete, FABIO Fran, or 10 commandments Sams they would have been cuffed and stuffed.

Is JBoggs a coach? A parent? Was he there just as some guy in the stands? There's something about sports that brings out the ... maniac ... in people.

Several years ago, I caused quite some heartburn when I voiced my opinions of elementary school coaches here in Clay. Right around that same time (3-4 years ago), games in Maryland were closed to spectators because the audience always got so far out of control.

Hmm. Might be an idea for a future post, huh?

LOL They're making it easier for the rest of us to steal trucks, though. I mean, honestly, if we all just watch closely, we can learn exactly what NOT to do.

Rule #1: Don't steal a truck that requires another truck to keep it running;

Rule #2: Go for something a bit less conspicuous;

Rule #3: Don't leave your stolen property in the first place people are likely to look.
