HAPPY THANKSGIVING ...

You don't owe me a thing,
I've been there too.
Someone once helped me out,
Just the way I'm helping you.
If you really want to pay me back,
Here's what you do.
Don't let the chain of love
... end with you.

Thanksgiving is the day set aside to ponder all the things we have to be thankful for.

Today, my firstborn child becomes a teenager.

I'm thankful he's not a girl.

BAHAHAHAHAHA

LOL

And on the other hand, Rose, we are sure glad your not a boy. ho ho ho!

I have many things to be thankful for this year, I'll share this one with you (whether u like it or not!!) hehe

Sister, Sister
I have a friend: very special & true, she was my sister even before I knew.

We were separated by many miles & years, but when we finally met there were many happy tears.

In 1988, just before Thanksgiving Day, we met at Aunt Wavie's and hardly knew what to say.

Never having a sister, we said we'd be close, stay in touch; but writing soon became a bore... And as the days passed into months, things were much like they had been before.

We grew up & apart, each had lives of our own, it was as though we weren't sisters, just strangers on the phone.

Now, the visits were there, that I cannot deny, maybe one day in December & again in July.

I'm very happy to report that again things have changed, our relationship now seems totally rearranged.

We chat almost daily & the visits are never soon enough, but when its time to part ways: that's when goodbyes are really tough.

Now I have a big sister that I cant do without & finding another friend like her is something I doubt!

I just read an article that says the Pilgrims didn't use forks when they ate. They used spoons, knives and their fingers. I think in the spirit of American tradition (and my children), I'm going to eat my Thanksgiving meal with my fingers.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Finally, industry at Filcon!

Just goes to prove what I have said for years with the BDA, Its BS to waste tax money on. Now that the industry has arrived I wonder if Pete and Fran will throw $300,000.00 at the cows, after all they are producing ferterlizer.

ROSE said...

Maybe we can even get in on the federal grants that research the effects of cow farts on the ozone.

AND ... maybe it'll even create jobs for people willing to offer their own farts for comparison purposes!!

Truly another miracle for the thugs in Clayberry to steal some more money from. Just think of all the time thats been spent and the thousands, yes Hundreds of thousand dollars they have spent already and the only thing acomplished is that where the cornfields use to be we now have Grass to go with our Gas.
Sure gives it that empty look don't you think? Now just picture the next rip off of digging footers down to the solid again to build on. Hope I can get a job doing some of that digging and pushing and shoving that dirt, or BS around for weeks on end so someone else can do the same thing again in a few years. Thats waht keeps government jobs running so smooth.

Anonymous said...

There might be something good happen in this county if more of the younger generation (& not just the sons & daughters of the blue bloods) got involved and the old farts moved over!

Anonymous said...

I've always heard that if you dont have the right last name in this county, (Sams, Nichols, Sizemore, Morris, etc...), your opinions and input dont count and so long as the "powers that be" (the old farts aka families) stay in charge there wont be anything happen around here that doesnt directly line their pockets. Blue blood sucks, we need NEW BLOOD!

Anonymous said...

Queen, not smart, Sams was voted out of office, Nicholas is very ill I hear, Sizemore sold their store beat feet, Morris went to prison. Is this what you are calling Blue Blood?

Anonymous said...

Regardless, the Crap is still at the throne!

Anonymous said...

hey you'll the powers that be are those that control the "old goat lodge" and the board of directors of "the clay county" bank. they've access to all your confidential files and the amount that's in your bank account.

Anonymous said...

More "blue blood" -

Young Mr. Sizemore - in and out of jail.

Middle age Mr. Sizemore - crack head.

Young Mr. Murphy - prison.

Anonymous said...

Dont forget benny murphy is in jail also

Anonymous said...

This is Clay County's Blue Blood?Please_________have mercy on the low class of Clay County.

Anonymous said...

You have left out the true blue bloods as they are still in control of the county and will be for a long time to come and Sams is not one of the names of blue bloods.
Starcher and Moores along with the Gibsons were not mentioned nor were the Piersons or Kings. You can't trust none of them and it won't change as long as they control one party lines in the school system. Demorat, Demorat, Demorat is what is taught here from first grade threw out school years. Two or three party systems are not taught nor ever will be in Clayberry.

Anonymous said...

The blueblood hold started to crumble when Link got the first Levy to pass. he lost three true blue school board members right after that.
The foundation fell apart completely when JD went to prison. With Scotty Legg swept out as well, they had no one to fill those shoes.
RT and Don Moore are too old to have any influence, Starcher is dead. Doc Boggs couldn't win a school board election last time he tried.
Morgan and Joyce haven't been able to win ANYTHING (she couldn't win Town Council last time)!
Last May the blue bloods couldn't even get Greg Tucker in to replace Randy White!
Blue bloods might think they have power, but its been gone a long time.

Anonymous said...

Is Don Moore the one that get's picked up for D>U>I kinda often? Is Avis Moore the one that use to buy land for taxe's that never was put up to bid on? Is it her Dad that owns a lot of houses that is not on the tax books? I bet that the Clerk's office should be taken apart and looked at real good.

Anonymous said...

Ok so I didnt get all the names in there, I was counting on you guys to fill in the etc... And with the DUI's, drug charges, and all the other underhanded schemes they've pulled over the years, little changes in Clay. Many of those same still stay in positions of power and/or recieve a slap on the wrist! I mean, look: we all know that JD Morris robbed a bank for yyearrrsss and he went to a country club prison for...was it 18 months?
If I robbed a bank, they'd put me under the jail for 18 years!

Anonymous said...

Hey James:

The woods are that way ----->
;)

Anonymous said...

Who is Avis Moore's dad?

Anonymous said...

Avis Moores dad was Andy Starcher and it appears he still rules from the grave don't it. Not really but all the underhanded stuff done in the Clerks office will remain covered until after Don,Avis,Butch and Judy and the rest of that family are buried. But rest assured as long as Connie Workman is there it shall remain as is.

It used to be that the offices in the court house ran hand in hand but not that way anymore. Before she even got elected Connie demonstrated her power by excluding any help to the other offices. Does she really think she is so high and mighty she can turn her back on the very people who got her elected in the first place. Maybe a good place to start her asking questions wopuld be talk to Susie Legg about what happens when you turn your nose up at the voters.

Jimmy Morris has enough money to last him at least three lifetimes if he lives to be a hundred, he could still live in comfort for two hundred more years and never lift a hand to do anything. His little stint at the country club never done anything but take away his status with some people across the county but didn't matter to him anyway as they were just a number to him anyway. Account number that is. Jimmy learned along time ago who to make loans to and who not to.

Now on to bigger and better things in life in Clayberry. Did you know that by running adds through her real estate agency Jeannie Davis is also driving up your taxes so high that elderly, disabled and underprivlidge Clayonians are not going to be able to pay their taxes soon. The tax list will grow again next year and Avis will again buy more land for taxes and have more homes unlisted on the tax books.
And the gossip column goes on......

Anonymous said...

So how is Connie Workman carrying on the blue-blood legacy? She was a Woods and is not from the blue-blood line is she? Did she earn the office by default?

Anonymous said...

She is nothing but a hired body guard. She should know when the house start's to fall she will be on the bottom.

Somebody has some real insight on the county clerks office. i could not agree more about connie workman. judy and avis moore's little "tramp". we all know she won the election because of judy and avis. the letter in the free press the week before the election proves that. she not only has the personality of a cardboard box, but her office is the most unprofessional of all the offices in the courthouse. Kids running around, clerks on the phone with their back to you when you do come in for help.

What about her family? Isn't her brother in jail or was. Doesn't her husband act like an idiot during basketball games and other sporting events?

Great representation we have in
that office.

I wonder what items are covered up in that office. Does that not make you wonder why Avis and Judy worked so hard for her during the election. Someone else coming in might find something that is a NO NO!!!!

I doubt that! that type of stuff don't happen in Clay.

One more thought: Ask the other offices in the courthouse how easy it is doing business with the county clerks office. they will tell you that it is extremely hard. not one office, but about all the offices in the courthouse will tell you that.

oh well six more years and we can change that.

Anonymous said...

OK, that gives me some insight, but now, just who is Judy Moore? What was HER maiden name and did she marry Avis Moore's son to become a Moore? If she did, what is his name? This just gets more and more interesting.

Sheila Stone is one of them in the office that is unfriendly..when she is not out back smoking a cigarette. do you know she had plans on running for the office of county clerk until someone "talked" her out of it. or lets say suggested she better not run for it.

Anonymous said...

Obviously, I don't know how the clerk's office operates on a daily basis but I was home on leave this past summer and needed to re-register to vote. I'm in the military and haven't actually lived in the county for almost 17 years. Since I had no physical address to use for registration it was a little complicated. Three different ladies assisted me, found out what needed to be done and got me registered. They were all friendly, courteous and professional.

My, how this blog does become a festering pot of gossip to be continuously stirred!

Before you believe anything you read here, though, it's important to note that Russ Harper never owned a red Corvette. What's that got to do with anything, you ask? Nothing. Except somebody once got their "facts" screwed up ... it's entirely possible that it could happen again. & again. & again.

In my own personal experience, the only problem I've ever had at the courthouse was that one time I was whistled at by some dude in shackles. Sheriff Holcomb handled that rather well, I thought.

Speaking of shackles, I passed a lovely bunch of fellas dressed in day-glo orange cleaning up litter along the highway today. They're doing a fine job.

Can't for the life of me figure out why everybody thinks hicks are so stupid. Sounds like you're all just jealous that the courthouse folks are smarter than you.

Anonymous said...

Ok here is how your taxes are going to get out of hand with real estate offices running adds sky high.
Lets say you build a home and it cost you $35,000.00 to build that house. Your job blows out and you have to sale it and move away. You turn this chore over to Jeannie Davis to sale for you and she sets the price at $65,000.00. All your less fortunate neighbors homes would do well to sale for $15,000.00 fair market value. When this 35 home sales for 65 it also reflects to the price of your 15 home. Since your neighbor sold for 65 that automatically increases the assessed value of every home in the community. After all this is Clayberry where the welfare and unemployed play. We just been hit by the assessments from New York and San Francisco Lawyers that says that shack by the road that near to falling down is a million dollar home when it comes to taxes. Does that clear things up any for you if not just drop in on the assessors office and have them explain it for you. As for me I think if you own your home it should belong to you and taxes should be exempt so at least when you die you can say you didn't rent off the county all your life.

Anonymous said...

Once upon a time in Clayberry they had an excess levy where there would be no schools closed and no child be bused out of the community to attend elementary school. This was the final touch that got the last levy passed because Ivydale and Vallyforkers were told just that so they could pass the levy.
Well only got one thing to say for you H.E. Whiters and Lizemorers get your suction built up you have the only two schools left in the communitys now. I must warn you tho, soon after the Queer Dale school is under way and classes are held there now just where do you think your kids will be in school? Clay and the Dale? Not likely after the new high school is built and the old high school will then house all the elementary classes, the Dale school will be shut down also. Why you may ask would they do that? Well some of the good ole boys will need that new 8 million dollar building by then.

7th: Thou shalt not commit adultery
10th: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt no covet thy neighbors wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbors.

While I was perusing my copy of the bible, I found some interesting facts: The words eternity, reverend, grandmother and gnat only occurred once each in the entire Bible!!!

Anonymous said...

father, father's, fathers occur in the bible 1500 times. while mother, mother's, mothers occur 325 times.
boy and boys occur only 3 times
girl and girls occur only twice.
God occurs 4,379 times
Lord occurs 7,738 times

And for those of you that didnt know:
The Bible was written by about 40 men who engaged in writing it during a period of about 1600 years dating from 1500 BC to about 100 years after Christ. These men wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. They wrote not in words of human wisdom but in words taught by the Holy Ghost.
1 Corinthians 2:13
See what you all get for makin me look something up myself!!!

Anonymous said...

Let me see if I've got this striaght...there is someone out there who would take less than their house is worth so that thier (ex)neighbors wont have to pay more taxes? Well, when your ready to sell YOUR house, let me know!
If the imaginary house wasnt worth $65,000 who would pay that much for it??? And if it was worth that much, then they should get a fair price for it! I've never sold a house myself, but I've bought one. As far as I know, a real estate agent doesnt pick the price all by themselves! Its a collaboration between all parties involved. Also, How is operating a business to maximize profits make someone un-Christian-like? And I'm sure Ms Davis pays taxes, too, so if she's affecting taxes, she's paying her share.

I think you all are mixing up the words "Blue Blood" with the term, "Employed". You talk about how all these "families" run clay and this and that. This isn't some big city. It's a hole in the wall. I was born and raised in clay, didn't come from a "blue blood" family, and probably make more than 9/10 of the "blue bloods" make. All these little jobs that you think are held for certain people are just pisson jobs. The board of education doesn't control anything. The commission barely controls anything. The reason there aren't any new businesses or big companies in clay county is simple. There's no one to fill the jobs because most of the county is composed of high school dropouts on welfare I wouldn't start a company up in clay county because I'd have to hire everyone from out of county, and then I'd have to spend several thousand dollars just on security to keep the meth heads from breaking in. So stop thinking there's some hidden chapter of the Illuminati running clay county, WV.

Anonymous said...

According to the state tax dept. Clayberry taxes were assessed at 103% of the real market value already and that was ten years back.
Yes Jennie Davis real estate is inflating property values by placing them in groups Charleston is used to getting for run down dumps.
I have never seen a place in Clay County that I would pay $75,000.00 for a house built in the 30's and 40s. Some of these houses are not worth $25,000.00 even if they were not termite eaten shells but these young kids will buy anything so they have a place to live for awhile. After they find out how bad burned they got it usually ends up as a repo. The problem is it has already been revalued and caused the assessment of higher taxes to the $10,000.00 homes around it.
As far as being Christian morals I learned along time ago to do unto others then split with the high profits. Falls right into the category of Screw your neighbor before someone beats you to her.
Makes it all good.

Anonymous said...

That's the most sensible comment I've seen since the blogs started.

I'm sure the employed or business- operating "bluebloods" would like to be able to just lay around all day waiting for the mailman, and then spend it all on gas keeping the roads hot.
Which, by the way, reminds me to ask-

How about all you DHHR or what ever it is hold off running to the welfare office first thing on check day, so the employed "bluebloods" can get to their jobs without having to follow your rolling no-insurance, no-sticker junkpiles at your leisurely, "What? Me hurry?" pace.
It would be in your best interest since they're making money to pay taxes to provide for your carefree lifestyle.

To the Anon on Wed Nov 29 at 10:44, there's someone with a free puppy (a pretty black, Lab looking one...with white toes) which is good with kids. Don't know about it being a watchdog, though. There is an ad in the Communicator if you're interested in finding out.

AP WASHINGTON - A record 7 million people -- or one in every 32 American adults -- were behind bars, on probation or on parole by the end of last year, according to the Justice Department.

Of those, 2,193,798 were in prison or jail, an increase of 2.7 percent over the previous year.

"Today's figures fail to capture incarceration's impact on the thousands of children left behind by mothers in prison," Marc Mauer, the executive director of the Sentencing Project, a Washington-based group supporting criminal justice reform, said in a statement Wednesday. "Misguided policies that create harsher sentences for nonviolent drug offenses are disproportionately responsible for the increasing rates of women in prisons and jails."

From 1995 until 2003, inmates in federal prison for drug offenses have accounted for 49 percent of total prison population growth.

sounds pretty accurate on the statistics! In my family alone, I've got an uncle whose been in jail for 30 years of his 50 years of life, a cousin whose seen gray bars for 14 of his 31 yrs, and a brother who keeps reservations there constantly. Plus a cousin who did a couple yrs, and another bro who did sometime in CRJ.
